need the herb?” Winston asked
just heard it’s very rare so I want tgcollect it. What if it comes in handy later? Like the Snowdrop lasttime…
Mentioning the Snowdrop made Joagha sigh. She would never forget about that incident. Millie hadreally humiliated her.
1 still need it, so I can’t give it to you, Winston refused outright.
Joanna was displeased. “Didn’t you say you weren’t giving it to William anymore? So why can’t Ihave it? Win, it’s just a herb. If it’s about money, I can pay for it
“It’s not about the money.” Winston turned her down again. He couldn’t give her the Aspher, nomatter what
“Are you planning to give it to someone else?” Joanna asked, puzzled,
Winston wasn’t the type to hold onto things just for the sake of it. If he wasn’t willing to give it to her,it meant he had use for it.
“Yes,” Winston answered, choosing not to lie to Joanna.
When she heard his response, she huffed. “Fine, everyone else is more important than me. Justgive it to them. I don’t want it anymore!”
“The herb wouldn’t be of any use to you, but it might be useful to someone else,” Winstonexplained.
Joanna shrugged and responded, “Alright, I don’t want it then. Your connections are obviously moreimportant.”
“That’s my girl.” Winston smiled.
With that, Joanna finally let the matter go. If she couldn’t have it, then so be it.
Millie was asleep when Marvin called. Still groggy, she answered the phone.
“Boss, I’ve managed to get in touch with the Aspher’s owner.”
Millie immediately opened her eyes, her voice tinged with excitement as she asked, “Did they agreeto meet?”
“They did. We talked about the price. They said the price is negotiable if you’re truly interested andit could be of use to you. We can discuss it in person. But since they’re busy with work, they set themeeting for tonight at Rose Café.”
Millie narrowed her eyes and said. “Alright, you go.”
“I can’t,” Marvin replied.
Millie was confused. “Why not?”
“They said you need to go in person to get it.”
Millie couldn’t help but replace it strange, Why did they need her to go in person?
“How do they know who’s buying?” she asked Marvin again.
Marvin fell into a brief silence before saying, “I’m not sure, but the seller insisted it has to be you. They want to see how sincere you are.”
Millie was rendered speechless. “Alright, I’ll be there on time.”
She couldn’t shake the feeling that the Aspher’s owner was someone
she knew.
That evening, Millie arrived at Rose Café at the agreed time
+25 BOWLS
“You can go now.”
Sitting in the car, Millie spoke to a young woman in the passenger seat. The woman was dressed ina white shirt and black skirt with her hair styled in pigtails.
Yvonne Booker grinned and replied, “Got it, boss! I’ll take care of it.”
With that, she quickly got out of the car and headed into the café.
Yvonne, an 18–year–old young woman who Millie had taken in from the orphanage, was a ray ofsunshine at M Base. She was smart and a great help to everyone.
Marvin got up from the back seat and yawned. “Boss, you really know how to outsmart them!”
“I don’t even know who this person is, yet they insisted I come in person. Of course, I had to becautious,” Millie replied with a snort.
The Aspher’s owner didn’t know who she was either. What harm was there in sending someoneelse?
Millie watched as Yvonne entered the café and chose a seat by the
window.
Marvin then texted the person, saying, “I’m here by the window. Where are you?”
Yvonne glanced around. The café was crowded, and everyone seemed busy.
Right then, Marvin received a reply.
The seller: “I genuinely want to sell the Aspher to someone who truly needs it, but you sentsomeone else to pick it up.”
Marvin frowned after reading the message. What was this supposed to mean?
Marvin: “Do you know who’s buying the Aspher?”
