“Which one is yours, Ms. Lowell?” Shane asked Joanna. He had seen the Lowell family on thenews, saying that they wanted to give the Snowdrop to Selma as her birthday present.

Joanna pointed to the herb immediately.

Shane was silent, and then he smirked. The Snowdrop? Looking at the herb, Shane couldn’t helpbut

chuckle.

Everyone was staring at Shane, whose reaction seemed to be a message in itself.

“It seems like Ms. Lowell’s Snowdrop is the real one!”

“Poor Ms. Lowell. She had put in so much effort just to give Mrs. Greer Senior a nice gift, but shewas wrongly accused!”

Joanna felt aggrieved the moment she heard this. Tears welled up in her eyes quickly. In just onesecond, her eyes had already turned red.

“I’ve read about Snowdrops in historical records. This one is the real one.” Shane picked up Millie’sSnowdrop and declared confidently, “This is the real Snowdrop! I guarantee it!

“Snowdrops resemble a white rose in appearance. They have a thick stem and a unique color. Asfor Joanna’s gift…”

Shane chuckled again. “That one is just an ordinary herb.”

Shane’s hearty voice echoed in everyone’s ears. They were at a loss for words at this moment.

It turned out that Shane’s laughter just now was not because Joanna’s Snowdrop was real; it wasbecause her Snowdrop was just an ordinary herb!

“Shane, are you telling the truth? Is the Snowdrop that Millie gave me the real one?” Selma wantedShane to reconfirm.

Shane nodded solemnly. “Selma, when have I ever lied to you? Moreover, there are so manypeople to bear witness here.

“If I lie, won’t be struck by lightning? I’m not that shameless to say that something is real when it isfake…”

As Shane spoke, he looked toward Joanna. His gaze seemed to be saying, “She’s the one who’sshameless. Where did she get the nerve to say that her herb was the Snowdrop? How ignorant!”

Joanna’s face fell instantly. She found it hard to breathe, and she felt as if she was going to faint.

Everyone in the venue fell silent. It was so quiet that one would be able to hear a pin drop.

“Joanna, do you have anything else to say?” Millie raised her eyebrow and asked lazily.

Selma also turned to Joanna. She snorted, obviously angry.

The Lowell family had made a big fuss about giving her the Snowdrop as her birthday present, butin the end, they had given her a fake one. If Millie hadn’t given her the real Snowdrop today, shewould have taken this herb as the real Snowdrop and showed it to her friend.

If her friend found out that her Snowdrop was fake later, she would have become a laughing stock.They would say that she was a fool who couldn’t even distinguish which Snowdrop was real or fake.The more Selma thought about it, the angrier she became.

“Mrs. Greer Senior…” Joanna looked at Selma while crying. “I didn’t know! I was lied to!‘d spent somuch money on it. I didn’t know it was fake either. Mrs. Greer Senior, I gave you that present out ofsincerity!”

Joanna grabbed Selma’s hand. She had lost her arrogant demeanor and only looked pitiful now.

With that, she went to catch up with Shane.
