Chapter 76

Millie frowned, unhappy with Winston’s teasing.

Just as she was about to push him away, he pulled her into his embrace. He deliberately rested hischin on her shoulder and teased her, “Satisfying you is not out of the question.”

Millie was

rendered speechless. Winston really had ho shame. Why hadn’t she realized that she was soshameless before?

She stomped on Winston’s foot. He didn’t back off, but he did let her go.

Millie glared at him resentfully. She was about to tum and leave when Winston frowned and asked,” Can you walk? Don’t fall again.”

Millie forced a smile. “You don’t have to concern yourself with these matters, Mr. Greer.”

Then, she raised her leg, but unexpectedly, she stumbled again.

Winston hurried forward to help her, but before he could hold her, she had already grabbed theedge of

the bed herself.

Millie looked down. Her dress was caught on the bed,

Winston couldn’t help but chuckle softly. Like a cello, it was low and sonorous.

He walked over to her and helped her untangle her dress.

When Millie met his gaze, she felt extremely embarrassed.

She quickly walked out, wanting to get away from Winston.

Meanwhile, he followed behind her quietly, smiling unknowingly.

The doctors were pacing outside the door. Once they saw Millie and Winston, they immediatelygreeted them. “Mr. and Mrs. Greer.”

Winston grunted in acknowledgement before turning to look at Millie, who looked down. Her hearttrembled. Very soon, she would not be Mrs. Greer anymore.

“This is the ointment you need.” The doctor handed Millie an ointment and reminded her, “Althoughyour wounds aren’t deep, there are many of them. To prevent infection, please come back threedays. later for a follow–up.”

Millie nodded at once. “Okay.”

“Good. You studied medicine yourself, so I won’t say more.” The doctor smiled before looking atWinston and teasing him. “Mr. Greer, you will need to take extra care of your wife for some time.”

Winston paused and looked at Millie for some reason. Both of them looked awkward.

Even though they were married, they didn’t know why when someone referred to them as husbandand wife, they would always feel uneasy.

Millie thought that Winston wouldn’t answer the doctor. After all, the doctor had referred to her ashis

Millie straightened out her dress. With an indifferent expression, she said calmly, “I fell from a heightand crashed into a vase when I was young. The vase broke and cut me.”

“A vase?” Winston wanted to examine Millie’s wound more closely, but Millie had already turned toface him.

Her eyes were reddened. “You didn’t care about me when we got married. We’re getting a divorcenow, so why are you still so concerned about me?”

Winston’s lips parted slightly. Millie leaned toward him and said playfully, “Could it be that you’vestarted to take an interest in me, Mr. Greer?”

The doctors in the emergency room looked at each other before leaving.

Winston’s expression darkened. He didn’t look too happy. “Millie, you’re being delusional again.”

Hearing this, Millie smiled and said, “Really? Then don’t ask so many questions. Otherwise, I’lloverthink.” She slipped out of bed.

“Thank you for sending me to the hospital, Mr. Greer…” Millie was about to leave when shestumbled.

Before she could fall to the ground, she felt a warmth around her waist. The next moment, she waspulled into an embrace.

Millie’s face was buried in Winston’s chest. She felt a slight pain from her wounds that had beentouched.

For some reason, she held his arm tightly.

Winston narrowed his eyes. Feeling Millie grabbing him, he couldn’t help but smile. “Perhaps I cansay that you did that on purpose,” he said flirtily into her ear.

Not wanting the doctor to feel awkward, Millie was about to say something when she heard Winstonsay in a low voice, “Okay.”

She looked at him in shock. Meanwhile, Winston was staring at her.

His gaze was profound. What was he looking at?

Millie bit her lip. She really didn’t understand Winston now.

What was the meaning of this? Was he trying to preserve her dignity? Did she have to thank him?

“I’m sorry for troubling all of you to come here so late at night. I’ll treat you all to a meal soon,”Winston said politely.

The doctors all waved their hands.

Winston held Millie’s wrist and looked at the doctors, saying regally and calmly, “Then my wife and Iwill leave first.”

Millie’s eyes were filled with shock. She stared at her wrist that was being held by Winston indisbelief before looking at his face.

“You don’t have to see us off.” With that, he led her out.

He quickened his pace a little. Millie followed him somewhat reluctantly, but her gaze did not leavehis

face.

Winston was indeed handsome. He was tall and he had a lean waist.

His face was flawless, and he had a tall nose bridge, double eyelids, and long and thick eyelashes.His side profile was extremely attractive.

Millie thought that if she could turn back time, she might still inevitably fall in love with Winston.

However, Winston was not his usual self that night. Why was he treating her so well?
