Silly Bride novel (Winnie and Xavier) -
Chapter 77
Winnie was left speechless.
She wondered if the man would argue with her over a nickname for the rest of the day.
"But Handsome, what is the meaning of hubby?"
Xavier sneakily smirked, for he already anticipated that she would ask naively.
He dragged the woman closer to him and patted his lap. "Sit here, and I'll explain to you."
His request had Winnie speechless once more. "Handsome, I thought your legs were broken? Can I even sit on your lap?"
"Of course you can. These are just some minor bone fractures. Come here and let me get a hold of you." His tone gradually turned deeper and hoarser as Xavier spoke.
As Winnie had a fetish for voices, she particularly loved this deep yet sexy voice.
She sighed inwardly.
Had I known, I wouldn't have kicked his leg that hard on that night. There was no need for me to break his leg.
Despite that, the woman still sat on the man's lap. After all, she was no saint as to turn such a beautiful man down.
"Handsome..." Winnie wrapped her arms around Xavier's neck and pressed her forehead against his, her voice soft and gentle.
"What is a hubby? Can a hubby do what you're doing right now? Hugging Winnie and protecting her at all cost and at any time?" "Yes..." Xavier had obviously overestimated himself.
He thought he would be able to reason with her properly by having her sitting on his lap.
The truth, however, proved him wrong.
When she got closer to him, his heart started pumping rapidly. He felt his every drop of blood and every breath he breathed were all boiling hot. He could not take it anymore.
He could not stand her being that close to him, and being close to him was not enough for him.
He wanted to be with her. Be it being a part of her or merging with her, the lust in him erupted fierily.
Under the influence of such overwhelming and untamed power, he pinned his hand behind her head and pressed himself against her.
After a series of rampaging kisses, the man finally quenched his thirst, and his actions turned gentle.
In the end, they both were panting.
At the same time, Xavier's perfectly shaped nose was leaning against Winnie's nose tip. "Remember, this is something only a hubby can do to his wife, Winnie. I'm your hubby, and you're my wife. I'm the only one who can kiss you, hug you closely, and own you. Dumbo, you heard me? Talk to me."
Winnie was still gasping for air.
What kind of explanation is this? Is this even what a hubby is supposed to mean?
She did not answer him, and she was unwilling to answer.
If he wants to be my hubby, he has to present more of himself, for that was too simple. However, Xavier would not stop until he received an answer.
"Hurry. Call me Hubby."
"Handsome."
"I don't want to be Handsome or whatsoever. We're husband and wife. Call me Hubby."
Winnie, however, played the stupid card and refused to change how she addressed him.
Xavier was upset by it, but he could not bring himself to force it on her.
However, since she refused to address him in the way he wanted to, he would remain upset, which resulted in him kissing her endlessly.
From her forehead to her eyes, nose tip, lips, chin, and cheeks, there was no part of her that he did not yearn for.
As he unbuttoned the first button on her blouse with his teeth, Winnie suddenly asked, "Handsome, I'm curious. It's been a long time since I last met you, but you didn't ask me why I was here. Why?" Xavier's movements froze in a split second.
He raised his head and glance at Winnie.
Confusion was still present in her eyes, but this time, there was a hint of calmness.
When he looked into her eyes, she was looking back at him.
It felt as if she was prying, trying to look for something, or perhaps planning something.
All of these traits did not belong to the previous Dumbo.
"What are you trying to tell me, Winnie?" Xavier suddenly felt a sense of insecurity.
Winnie pouted. "Handsome, I wanted to go to Grandpa Rufus' to attend his birthday party, but you wanted to divorce me."
"Stop," Xavier interrupted immediately. "I wasn't thinking straight back then. I will not divorce you. Forget about what happened that day."
"But I can't, Handsome. It hurt so much that day. You're a bad person. I was so sad that I went hiking but was pushed down the hill by Kiki."
"Kiki? Are you referring to Kylie? She's the one who pushed you?" Xavier frowned deeply. This darned Garland! How dare she!
"Yes." The aggrieved Winnie sniffled. "It's Kiki. She's jealous of me, so she wanted me dead. After falling from the hill, I fell into a river and was rescued by someone. Handsome, look. My arms are injured, and they haven't recovered until now."
As she explained, Winnie rolled her sleeves up to reveal her arms.
There were, indeed, plenty of minor injuries, and they were the injuries she suffered after being pushed down the hill by Kylie.
Seeing this, the heartbroken Xavier was overwhelmed by the guilt he felt.
"I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I'm not a good person. I allowed such a tragedy to happen to you." Xavier held onto Winnie's hands, planting gentle kisses on her arms.
Seeing how his reaction, Winnie suddenly recalled the night at Lagune Mansion.
This man sat beside her bed in the middle of the night and forcefully kissed her.
He only stopped after she gave him a bite on his lips, causing him to bleed.
That night, he had also apologized in a similar way.
Ha, history is repeating itself.
After kissing every injury on her arms, the man raised his head and asked, "What happened later? Why didn't you come back to me? Do you know your granny has been looking for you? How did you even end up here on this island?"
Winnie found herself choked by his questions.
There was no way she would be telling him she no longer wanted her identity as Dumbo, so she decided to go missing. It was also impossible for her to reveal that it was part of her plan for Jacinta to live in the Fairchild residence. On top of that, she could also never reveal that she was now on that island because she had been by his side all this time.
No, there's no way I can confess everything in one go.
Hence, she shook her head, pretending as if she was clueless about the questions.
"I don't know. I can't remember. Please stop asking, Handsome."
All it took was a single drop of tear and a saddened expression to have Xavier surrender.
"Okay. I'll stop asking."
That night, Winnie fell asleep on Xavier's arm.
After Winnie fell asleep soundly, Xavier raised his hand and covered the lower part of her face.
With only her eyes exposed, she looked absurdly familiar to him after he observed her carefully.
It was also at this moment that his newly bought phone rang.
Looking at the phone, he hurriedly hung up and typed out a message: Text me. It's not convenient to call right now.
