Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! -
Chapter 1138 Clay's Visit
Last night, when Sydney and Julien were on their way back to Shallow Bay, she received a text message from Sean about her leave of absence. Sean said that she had to rest for half a month to prepare for ar operation. Sydney agreed at that time.
However, she forgot about it.
It was quite embarrassing.
"Ms. Raines, this is your schedule for today. See if there's anything you need to cancel or reschedule." The secretary handed Sydney the folder in her arms with both hands.
Sydney took it, flipped through it, and pointed at two activities. "Cancel these two. They're both unnecessary and will only be a waste of time."
The secretary leaned over to look at them. "Okay."
"Keep the others." Sydney closed the folder and handed it back to the secretary.
The secretary held the folder back in her arms. "By the way, those large machines you went over to Kingthene a few months ago to order have already been sent to customs." "Really?" Sydney's eyes suddenly lit up in surprise.
The secretary nodded. "Yes, now the customs clearance agency is working urgently for us. After the goods go through customs, we can arrange for people to go bring the machines back." "That's great," Sydney smiled happily.
How could she not be happy?
All along, Skylight's goods had been produced in cooperation with other companies because six years ago, Skylight sold the factory, as well as all the production lines, in exchange for liquidity to get through the hard times.
But unexpectedly, in the end, even after selling them, Skylight was still in trouble. Sydney's dad died, and Skylight's equities were scattered.
These years, with the help of Luke, Cayden, and Sydney's grandfather, she slowly bought the equities back. Otherwise, Skylight would still not belong to the Raines family now.
Although Skylight was back in her hands, it did not mean that she got back everything of Skylight in the past, such as Skylight's factory and the major production lines.
After all, they were sold back then. Unlike shares that could be slowly bought back in the stock market, those things could only be purchased back from the buyers.
Yet how could the buyers easily sell those things? They bought them because their own factory and production lines were not enough. If they now sold them, they had to buy a factory and production lines from others, so why bother?
So it was almost impossible to buy back the factory and production lines that had been sold in the past.
As a result, Skylight could only replace ZX and Perfect Parts Company that specialized in cooperating with others to produce goods. After all, Skylight didn't have its own factory and production lines anymore. However, cooperating with others was never a long-term solution. The initiative was in other people's hands, so Skylight might lose out one day.
Sure enough, ZX's boss violated the contract and gave her parts to Dallin. Sydney once again realized that always cooperating with others was a time bomb and that she must have her own factory and production lines.
The good thing was that she had this thought a long time ago and took action immediately after that, so the factory had already been built, and she had gone to Kingthene to customize the machines. Because the factory had been under construction, and the machines had been assembled in Kingthene, Sydney had had to continue to cooperate with ZX earlier.
After they cooperated for so long, something finally happened.
But now it was fine. The customized machines had already arrived at customs, just waiting to be taken back. Skylight wouldn't need to cooperate with any company to produce parts and goods. It could produce them by itself.
Thus, it was only a matter of time before it returned to the stock market.
The more Sydney thought about it, the more cheerful she became. She clasped her hands in excitement. "Tell the logistics department to keep an eye on customs and the customs clearance agency. Also, try to get the machines back as early as possible and don't make any mistakes."
"Don't worry, Ms. Raines. Sean already instructed me about this when she handed over the job to me yesterday," the secretary smiled.
Sydney also smiled, "She was still worried about the company when she was not feeling well and had to take a leave of absence."
"Sean is very responsible." The secretary nodded.
Sydney looked at her. "Is the decoration of the factory finished?"
The secretary held the folder and answered, "Yes. As for if there is any need for modifications, we have to wait until the machines arrive. After all, the decoration workers only looked at the drawings of the machines before setting electric boxes on the walls of the factory and making vents. They haven't seen the machines, so the sizes and shapes of the electric boxes and vents may not suit the machines."
"I understand. Tomorrow I will go over to the factory to see the decoration result. As for whether or not to modify it, let's wait until the machines arrive." Sydney pulled out a chair and sat down. The secretary nodded. "Okay."
"You can go now. Ask the major shareholders and the senior management to go to the conference room for a meeting," Sydney ordered with a wave of her hand. The secretary nodded and turned to go out.
Sydney sat in the office for a while, packed some things for the meeting, and then left the office.
The meeting lasted for almost three hours.
It was almost one o'clock after the meeting.
Sydney's stomach was already rumbling from hunger.
She frowned slightly and rubbed her stomach as she walked toward her office.
Back at her office, before she could sit down and ask her secretary to buy food for her, the landline on her desk suddenly rang.
Sydney could only send a text message to tell her secretary to buy her lunch. She then put down her cell phone, picked up the receiver, and put it to her ear. "Hello?"
"Hello, Ms. Raines, this is the front desk." The receptionist's respectful voice came through the landline.
Sydney raised an eyebrow in surprise.
It seemed like there was someone who wanted to see her, or there was an important item that she needed to sign for in person.
Otherwise, normally, the receptionist would contact her secretary or assistant first.
Thinking about it, Sydney held back her hunger, sat up a little straighter, and asked seriously, "What's the matter?"
"Here's the thing, Ms. Raines. Two guests came, claiming to be the president of the McDaniel Group and his assistant. They said they needed to meet you," the receptionist answered on the phone, glancing at Clay and his assistant standing opposite her.
Sydney narrowed her eyes. "The president of the McDaniel Group?"
"Yes."
Sydney pursed her red lips.
What a surprise! The McDaniel family actually came, and it was the current president of the McDaniel Group.
Sydney guessed he was here because of Erin.
"Ms. Raines, do you want to meet them?" the receptionist asked on the phone.
Sydney didn't answer immediately and instead held the receiver and tapped on the desk thoughtfully.
The receptionist naturally heard Sydney tapping on the desk. She didn't dare to disturb Sydney, so she could only hold the receiver with both hands and smile apologetically at Clay as a signal for him to wait a moment.
But Clay was very impatient, looking sullen.
He thought of himself as Sydney's senior, not only in the business world. He was as old as Harry.
Even regardless of his age, he was the son of Julien's teacher, so he felt Sydney should respect him and treat him courteously. When she heard that he had come, she should immediately invite him upstairs, instead of putting on airs and keeping him waiting.
