Jayden strode over in a hurry and caught the falling Old Madam Flint.

She heard the little smack from the phone when it fell and day den's panic screams. She believed something must have happened to Old Madam Flint, which fueled her anxiety. However, Old Madam Flint's voice could no longer be heard through the phone.

She was nowhere near the house either, so she had no idea what happened. She clutched her phone tightly and kept on calling for Old Madam Flint, hoping for a reply.

"Dad." Clarice also welcomed him home.

Brandon nodded and sat down beside his wife. "I'm back."

"Dad, have a glass of water." Clarice poured a glass of water for him.

Brandon received it with a smile on his face. "Good girl."

Clarice blushed but she looked down to conceal the grim in her eyes.

It felt great being praised. She lived every day of her twenty-six years in scoldings and beatings, so she had never enjoyed parental love until she came here. She only found out that parental love was intoxicating.

Unfortunately, such loving parents were not her real parents.

"How was it, Brandon? Did Julien agree to reinstate the engagement and the cooperation between our companies?" Mrs. Madden put her hands together and prayed. "If he said okay to the engagement, who is it going to be? Lyra or Clarice?"

Clarice also got nervous upon hearing, she too looked at Brandon with anticipation.

Brandon clutched the couch tightly and bitterness appeared on his face.

If the engagement was not reinstated, she did not have to worry.
