Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! -
Chapter 707 Mrs. Madden's Mixed Feelings
Met with such a look from his wife, Brandon looked around the room and figured out the situation. He asked tiredly in a hoarse voice, "Did I pass out again?"
Upon hearing his voice, Mrs. Madden hurriedly raised her tearful eyes and looked at him. "Honey, you're awake."
Brandon hummed and said, "Help me up."
Mrs. Madden helped him sit up and recline against the head of the bed.
To make him comfortable, she stuffed a pillow behind his back.
While pouring a glass of water, she said, "You have passed out many times. Why don't you stay in the hospital and receive treatment?"
With a trembling hand, Brandon took the glass and sighed, "I can't. Because of my losses to Sydney, Trison Corporation has failed to thrive, and my shares are sufficient for me to suppress those shareholders who were ready to make a move. I have to stay in the office. If I got hospitalized at such a time, they would definitely hang my position in the air. That's the last thing I want."
Although Mrs. Madden didn't understand business management, she knew what he meant by that. The tears she had done her best to hold back fell again. "Why do things turn out this way?"
"It's okay. Stop crying. It's giving me a headache," Brandon said, rubbing his temples.
Mrs. Madden immediately stopped crying but looked at him in dismay.
The sight of his grey hair, wrinkled face, and crow's feet saddened her.
The Maddens were rich, and both of them used to be well-maintained. In their fifties, they used to look like people in their thirties.
In this day and age, Mrs. Madden hadn't changed, but Brandon looked like he had aged about ten years because of his kidney failure. He no longer looked like he was in his thirties. On the contrary, he looked much older than his real age. People would believe that he was in his seventies.
"Any news from the organ bank?" Brandon asked tiredly.
Mrs. Madden shook her head and replied, "No."
Because his blood type was special, it was not easy to replace a matching kidney resource.
'The doctor has issued a red alert. If we couldn't replace a suitable kidney within six months, Brandon would...'
Mrs. Madden couldn't imagine the consequences. Wiping the tears off the corners of her eyes, she asked, "By the way, how are you feeling right now? Should I send for the doctor?"
"I'm okay. Go through the discharge formalities for me in a moment. I can't stay in the hospital for long. There is an important meeting tomorrow. I heard that the supervisory authorities would come and inspect Trison. I can't be absent from this meeting, or there will be great trouble," Brandon replied, looking at his wife.
Mrs. Madden nodded. "I see."
Brandon took a sip of water and asked, "Where's Clarice?"
"She went home. I thought it would be better for you to be hospitalized and asked her to get the necessities ready and bring them over tomorrow. Now that you won't stay in the hospital, I'll give her a call in a moment and tell her about it," Mrs. Madden replied.
She picked up the remote control and turned on the TV. "I assume you're not sleepy since you just woke up. You can watch TV and relax."
"Okay." Brandon pinched his eyebrows and agreed.
Mrs. Madden switched the channels when Brandon suddenly cried out, "Stop."
She was taken aback. "What's wrong?"
"Go back to the last channel," Brandon demanded.
"Okay." Mrs. Madden had no idea what was going on but complied nonetheless.
After the last channel was tuned in, she figured out the reason.
On the entertainment channel, a piece of news about Sydney was being broadcast.
'No wonder Brandon suddenly looks so serious. Turns out Sydney is in the news again.'
'What's the cause this time?'
Mrs. Madden thought to herself and watched it with Brandon.
After watching it through, she widened her eyes in surprise, "Sydney is not Harry's biological daughter?"
Brandon also showed a surprised look. "That's what Madeline said. She also claims that Sydney is the child of Leanna and her lover. It's worth celebrating if it is true."
He looked delighted and gloated, "Harry is a good man in everyone's mind. Those seniors in the business world and the employees all praised him. They sang praises of his virtue and debased me for decades. In the end, the best man in this world was betrayed by the love of his life. He was cuckolded. Ha-ha, wonderful!"
Harry and he used to be close friends when they were little.
Later, Harry's academic talent stood out, and his nightmare began. Everyone, his parents included, compared him with Harry and criticized him for not being able to keep up. Even some irrelevant people judged him for not being as outstanding as his friend. Even his employees believed that Harry was a better boss. They jumped ship and worked with Harry to develop a new machine.
So, he hated Harry to the core.
Sudden death was too easy.
He had taken measures to destroy everything and watched Harry die in despair.
To his surprise, such a sensational scandal was exposed years after Harry's death.
Sure enough, Heaven didn't favor Harry.
Brandon laughed heartily.
Mrs. Madden didn't laugh at Harry with him. She just stared at the TV screen with mixed feelings. No one knew what she was thinking about.
Brandon noticed it, cleared his throat, and asked, "What's wrong?"
Mrs. Madden shook her head. "Nothing, I don't know why, but the news brings me a strange feeling."
She put her hand on her heart.
Brandon waved his hand. "It's nothing strange. Don't think too much. Go and check out for me."
"Okay." Mrs. Madden nodded, put down the remote control, and headed out.
She walked slowly, stopped in her tracks, and looked back at the TV.
She didn't know why she cared so much about the fact that Sydney was not Harry's daughter.
She was perturbed and could not calm down. Something seemed to be coming to light, but she couldn't tell exactly. It gave her the jitters. The time passed quickly. Soon, it was dawn.
In Julien's arms, Sydney woke up, opened her eyes, and met a pair of deep, dark eyes.
Lying beside her, the man was resting his head on one hand. His other hand was leisurely fiddling with a lock of her hair.
"Awake?" asked the man in a deep, attractive voice.
"Yeah." Sydney's hand reached out of the blanket and snatched her hair back, "When did you wake up?"
"A while ago," Julien replied.
Sydney raised her eyebrows. "Then you've been staring at me?"
Julien nodded. "I wanted to see you wake up."
"Heh heh." Sydney rolled her eyes at him, "Rejoice that I didn't forget where I fell asleep last night. Otherwise, I would freak out when I woke up to replace someone staring at me." With that, she pushed the man aside and sat up.
Under her shove, Julien lay down and then also sat up two seconds later. "Are you going out of bed?"
"I'm going to the bank and taking the surveillance footage out of the safe," Sydney replied, narrowing her eyes.
