Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! -
Chapter 765 I Won't Do It Again
"Yes, you have my word." Julien nodded.
Sydney then flashed a smile. She cheered up. "Okay. What about you?"
"What?" Julien muttered, "What's wrong with me?"
"I mean your back..." Sydney gave an awkward smile and explained, "I mean those scratches..."
Julien now understood what Sydney was asking. Before she could finish her sentence, Julien interrupted her, smug in his tone, "They're fine."
"Okay." Sydney was relieved. She spoke again, "How are you feeling? You haven't asked about your own condition since you woke up."
"No, I didn't ask about it." Julien shook his head.
Sydney gave him a deliberate pat on the chest and asked, "What's wrong with you? You had a car accident. Don't you even care how your body is doing?"
Julien hadn't asked a single question about his own condition, as if he wasn't the one who had been in the accident.
Julien took her hand away from his chest and chuckled, "Don't be mad. I didn't ask it because I feel fine. If there was something serious with me, you wouldn't have calmed down so quickly when you saw my eyes open, so I guess I'm okay. Am I right?"
He took her hand out of the blanket and kissed it.
Sydney grunted, "Okay. You're right. Zach said you passed out because you got hit in the back of the head and that you can leave the hospital tomorrow."
"OK," Julien nodded, but an imperceptible glimmer flashed across his eyes.
Zach must have used it as an excuse to reassure Sydney.
Julien was well aware of how much his heart had hurt before he'd passed out. He did hit the back of his head, but it wouldn't have made him pass out.
It was his heart's problem that made him pass out.
Julien had told Zach not to tell Sydney about his heart. Therefore, Zach had to replace an excuse to reassure Sydney.
The fact that Julien hit the back of his head in the car accident was a plausible explanation for why Julien had fainted.
From the look on Sydney's face, Julien guessed that she believed what Zach said, and Julien was relieved.
Just as Julien was lost in thought, he felt a pair of hands cupping his face.
He looked down and found Sydney had suddenly sat up and that she was cupping his face tightly with both hands and staring at him with a serious expression. "Julien, do you have any idea how scared I was tonight when I heard you had an accident? I was terrified. I almost passed out. I pinched my thigh so hard to stay awake and to learn how bad the accident was. I..."
"What?" Before she could finish her sentence, Julien tensed up and sat up instantly.
"You pinched your thigh?"
Sydney blinked and replied, "Yes. There's the only way for me to stay awake and calm." "How could you do that to yourself?" Julien stared at Sydney with stern eyes and hissed. Sydney's eyes widened. "I did that for you. Why are you yelling at me?"
For a moment, Sydney felt upset.
Julien sensed that his tone was too harsh and he softened, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. I was just worried about you. Does it hurt?"
Sydney grunted, "It hurt. But to stay awake and keep myself from passing out, I had no other choice. How did you get into the accident? Why would I pinch my thigh if you didn't have an accident? And yet, you're accusing me!"
Julien compressed his lips and didn't say anything.
Indeed, it was his fault.
Julien rubbed his eyebrows and looked at Sydney with guilty eyes, "I'm sorry I scared you. Does your thigh still hurt? Let me see it."
Then he leaned over and tried to look at her thigh.
Sydney immediately withdrew her leg and refused, "No, I'm fine. It hurt back then, but it's fine now. And I'm wearing pants, so you can't see it. If you want to see it, I'll show it to you when we get home tomorrow."
Julien had been frustrated by her refusal. He wanted to see whether her thigh was fine, but she wouldn't let him.
But after Sydney said she would show him when they got home, he cheered up.
Seeing the smile at the corner of Julien's mouth, Sydney guessed what he was thinking. She shook her head with a faint smile.
However, the next second, her face clouded over.
Seeing Sydney's face darken, Julien raised his eyebrows. He guessed she was angry.
Sydney crossed her arms across her chest and stared at him with cold eyes, "Julien, I heard from Zach that a woman suddenly ran a red light and ran onto the road and that Zach couldn't brake in time, so you told him to crash into a garden. That's why you had the accident, right?"
Julien nodded, "Yes, or the car would have hit the woman."
Speaking of the woman, Julien gave a look of disgust.
People who ran red lights were so reckless. They risked not only their own lives but also others'. They were irresponsible.
Sydney was relieved to know that Julien didn't like the woman.
She was glad he hated that woman.
Although she knew that Julien did not know the woman and could not have had anything to do with her, she was upset when she saw the woman staying around Julien and taking care of him. Now that Sydney was sure Julien hated that woman, she relaxed.
"I understand you don't want to run into people, but you're risking your own life. Have you thought about it?" Sydney leaned over to Julien.
Julien was surprised. He hurriedly opened his arms and took her into his arms.
Sydney looked up at him, a smile in her eyes.
'He's not a stupid guy.'
"I had calculated that at the speed we were going, if the car crashed into the garden, we'd be okay, so I gave Zach that instruction." Julien rested his chin on top of Sydney's head.
Sydney hissed, "Yes, you did the calculation. There happened to be a garden there, but what if there's no garden there? What are you going to do? Are you going to tell Zach to steer to the side? If a car came from the opposite side of your car, then you would have crashed into another car. How dangerous that would be! You could have died! I'd rather you hit that woman than have anything happen to you. Do you understand?"
Sydney looked at Julien with reddened eyes.
She wasn't a cruel woman who suggested that Julien hit someone else, but she didn't want Julien to get hurt.
At Sydney's words, Julien's eyes twitched. He was surprised.
He knew how kind she was.
But now, she would rather he hit someone else to keep himself safe, which showed how much she cared for him.
Thinking about this, Julien held Sydney tighter, as if he wanted to press her inside his body. He whispered in a husky voice, gratitude in his tone, "I know. I won't do it again. I promise I won't make you worry anymore."
"Really?" Sydney averted her head slightly to look at Julien's face.
