Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce! -
Chapter 802 Hurtful Words
"I told Greta not to say that," Sydney smiled.
Luke frowned in confusion. "Why?"
"What if Greta kills herself or gets killed because of this?" Sydney said, rubbing her temples.
Luke immediately shifted in his seat and fell silent.
Yes, it would be no fun if a human's life was involved.
"Ahem." But soon, Luke pulled his tie and smiled again, "I thought that woman had deliberately hidden it."
"She didn't dare," Sydney replied with certainty.
Greta dared to mislead the netizens, but she definitely did not dare not hide the reason for the apology. After all, these were two different things.
If she misled the netizens, not everyone could figure it out. After all, not everyone was smart.
But if she hid the reason for the apology, everyone could replace it out.
That was why she was absolutely sure that Greta didn't dare do so.
"Okay. Since you asked her to do that, then I will not say anything else. Anyway, Syd, you have to control Julien. Don't let him get entangled with other women. If you can't control him, just dump him, or he will hurt you," Luke said, his mouth twisting.
Sydney felt awkward. "Well, I know what to do. Don't worry about me. You should worry about yourself."
"Me?" Luke pointed at himself in confusion. "Why?"
Sydney raised her eyes and looked at Sean, who had been listening to Sydney talking on the phone with her head down. Sydney sighed silently in her heart and then asked Luke tentatively, "You're still single, Luke. You're almost 31. Are you still not going to replace a girlfriend?"
Hearing this, Sean jerked her head up to stare at Sydney's phone with a somewhat anxious look.
"Ms. Raines..." She lowered her voice and called out in a hurry, afraid that Sydney would recommend her to Luke.
After all, Sydney had always been very supportive of Sean's pursuit of Luke.
If Luke did not hate Sean, she would be happy rather than afraid that Sydney recommended her to Luke.
But Luke hated Sean, so if Sydney recommended her to Luke, Luke would definitely think Sean asked Sydney to do so, and then Luke would hate Sean even more.
Sydney took a look at Sean's expression and knew what Sean was worried about.
She shook her head slightly at Sean and gave a reassuring smile, implying that there was no need to worry and that she would not say anything nonsensical.
When Sean saw this, she was a little relieved.
But she was still nervous, and her eyes were fixed on Sydney's phone.
On the phone, Luke heard Sydney ask about his emotional life. His expression became gloomy, and finally, he smiled bitterly and said, "Syd, don't you understand me? I have not let go of my feelings for you. How can I replace a girlfriend? If I replace one, it will be unfair to her."
"Yes," Sydney sighed. "But you can replace a suitable one. Try to accept her and love her. Maybe, in the end, you will fall in love with her."
"There's no such a person." Luke shrugged his shoulders disapprovingly.
Sydney looked at Sean.
Sean tensed up.
Sydney quickly retracted her gaze and said tentatively, "Not necessarily. You are so handsome, and your family is good. There are naturally many girls who like you. Why don't you try to replace a girl who admires you?"
Sydney secretly put Luke on speaker.
Next, Sean heard Luke's voice clearly.
Luke still said in a casual tone, "No. Those women are just so-so. I'm not interested in them."
The words instantly made Sean's face pale. Her expectations completely disappeared. She felt a chill all over.
Seeing her like this, Sydney opened her red lips and felt very guilty.
She originally thought that she would test Luke for Sean to see if there was any possibility of Sean and Luke being together. But unexpectedly, Luke's answer was so hurtful.
Although Luke did not mention Sean directly, Sean was one of those girls who liked Luke.
But Luke said that the girls who liked him were just so-so and that he was not interested in them.
For a while, Sydney regretted that she had put Luke on speaker and let Sean suffer such a blow.
Sydney looked at Sean, sighed, frowned at the phone, and asked, "Luke, do you feel your words are hurtful?"
Luke leaned back lazily in his chair, his voice calm. "No. I didn't say it to them in person."
"You..." Sydney was angry with him. She pressed her brow. "Forget it. I'm not talking to you about this anymore. I still have things to do next. Bye."
Sydney was about to hang up the phone.
Luke suddenly said, "Wait a minute, Syd."
"Do you have anything else?" Sydney asked.
Luke sat up straight. "It's not a big deal. After my mom found out you and Julien had gotten back together, she wanted to ask you two out for dinner some time ago, but I told her you were busy, so my mom didn't look for you, but she definitely won't give up. She'll ask you out later. I'm giving you a heads-up."
"Why did your mom want to ask us to dinner?" Sydney was surprised.
It was normal for Mrs. Chase to ask her out for dinner.
But Mrs. Chase also wanted to invite Julien, which made Sydney think more.
Luke laughed, "It's not a small thing that you're back together, and my mother has always treated you like her daughter, so she must want to talk to Julien about it. After all, Julien has once again taken her goddaughter away."
Sydney nodded and smiled, "I see. So when you're back home, please tell your mom I'll bring Julien to see her when she's available."
"Okay," Luke answered.
The call ended. Sydney put the phone down, exhaled slightly, and looked across the table at Sean, who bowed her head. Sydney couldn't see Sean's expression. She said with a guilty look, "Sean... I'm sorry. didn't know Luke..."
"It's okay, Ms. Raines," Sean raised her head. Her eyes were red, and her expression was a little sad, but she forced a smile.
Yet her smile looked so stiff and depressed.
"I know you were trying to set me and Mr. Chase up, so I don't blame you. After all, you mean well. You just want to fulfill my wish. It's just that Luke doesn't like me. I've always known this, so I'm not surprised that he said those words. After all, he dislikes those who like him, especially me." Sean's voice was bitter.
She climbed into Luke's bed while he was drunk.
Although he yanked her and didn't let go of her, mistaking her for Sydney, Sean, as a sober person and an adult, had the strength to push a drunk away and even help him sober up.
But she didn't. She indulged Luke and herself, which led to Luke's hatred for her.
She deserved it.
Sometimes, Sean asked herself if she regretted that she had not pushed Luke away that day.
She couldn't fool herself. She was regretful.
