Sir, Madam Dispeared Again After Divorce!
Chapter 882 Don't Betray Me

"I was also in the wrong."

Julien suddenly unbuckled the seatbelt and turned sideways to hold Sydney, who was in the passenger seat. His chin rested on her shoulder. His voice was full of depression and self-accusation. "If I had found out that Dallin betrayed my mother, she might not have waited for him for ten years, fallen into despair when she just saw hope, and forgone her life. If she had found out about Dallin's betrayal from the beginning, she might have come out of the shadows sooner and accepted my father."

Feeling his depression and guilt, Sydney patted him on the back. "That was not your fault. You were just a child who couldn't possibly reach every aspect of the matter. Don't beat yourself up. Your mother loved you. She would not rest in peace if she learned that you blame yourself for her death. That's not something you want to see."

Julien fell silent. He held Sydney more tightly and buried his head deeper in her neck.

Sydney continued to soothe him by patting his back.

This man was always lofty and tough. Nothing seemed to be able to stump him. He was omnipotent.

When he took off his armor, he was no different from other men.

He had the same feelings as ordinary people.

He could be sad and remorseful.

He needed others' comfort and company.

The silence went on till it was broken by a tap on the window. A police officer came to remind them that they shouldn't park the car there. Only then did Julien let go of Sydney, start the car, and drive away. His eyes on the road, Julien remained quiet on their way back to Shallow Bay. Not a word was said.

When they arrived at their destination, he parked the car in the garage, put his hands off the steering wheel, looked sideways at Sydney, and broke the silence. "You have my word. I will never become someone like Dallin."

"Huh?" Sydney paused from unbuckling the seatbelt. His words seemed to puzzle her.

Julien took her hand in his and said seriously, "My heart and soul will always belong to you. I'll never be a hypocrite like Dallin. I won't hurt you as he did to my mother. This is my promise to you." A man should keep his word.

He should fulfill his promise.

The education he received and his faith didn't allow him to be an unfaithful man. They dictated his devotion to his life partner.

Even if they were no longer in love, he would continue to be kind to her as long as they were still living together.

He should respect her and answer for his responsibility.

Anyway, he would not stop loving Sydney.

He hated Dallin's kind.

He meant to tell Sydney that there were a lot of men like Dallin, but the good men were not few either. He was one of the good guys.

She might doubt his faith after she heard the disgusting things done by Dallin. She might be worried that he would have love affairs too. After all, he had never promised his devotion to her. He was afraid that his promise would fall into incredibility because of Dallin.

That would be frustrating.

That was why he was so anxious to tell Sydney that he was different from Dallin and that he would never become one like Dallin.

She believed him, right?

Julien's lips were pursed into a thin line. His deep eyes were somehow tinted with anxiety.

He was worried that she would not believe him and that she would suspect him because of Dallin.

Seeing his tense look, Sydney chuckled behind her hand. "It's okay, don't worry. I won't doubt you because of those terrible things Dallin did to your mother. People are different. I'm aware of that." It was easy to read his mind.

At a glance, she could tell what was bothering him.

His worries were unnecessary. Then again, he considered her feelings and immediately reassured her. It touched her.

"This world is multi-faceted, and so are people. There are good ones and bad ones. I won't blindly think that all men are terrible just because one of them is a scumbag. It's not fair to other men. Don't worry about it. I won't be affected to suspect you. Even if I don't have faith in you, I believe in my taste. I don't think the man I chose is a two-timer. Am I right?"

Sydney smiled at him.

Julien nodded firmly. "Yeah, you won't regret your choice."

"Good." Sydney gently squeezed his fingers.

The man heaved a sigh of relief.

It was great that she wasn't affected by Dallin.

If she were, he would go and kill that bastard right away.

However, Sydney's following words made him anxious again.

"But..." Sydney narrowed her glimmering eyes.

Julien's heart slammed against his ribcage as he had a bad feeling. "What is it?"

His Adam's apple rose and fell. His voice was a bit hoarse.

Sydney grinned at him. The slyness in her eyes was undisguised. "If you dare to cheat on me and betray my trust in you, I will be excusable to destroy the tool you use to fool around."

She made a cutting gesture and looked down till her eyes were fixed on his crotch.

Julien's pupils constricted, and his face changed. In the seat, he subconsciously put his legs together under her gaze.

Obviously, he hadn't expected her to say such a thing.

That was ruthless.

As Julien pursed his lips and fell silent, Sydney rested her head on her palm and smirked, "What, too harsh? I don't think so. As long as you behave, I'll have no reason to do that. Do you replace it harsh because you're going to treat me like what Dallin did to your mother?"

"No!" Julien frowned and blurted out, "I'll never become someone like him."

"Then why didn't you say anything just now? As I said, you'll be fine as long as you're faithful to me. Since you won't break faith, what are you worried about?" Sydney looked into his eyes.

He let out a sigh. "It's not that I found it harsh. I was just shocked."

"Shocked?" Sydney tilted her head.

Julien nodded lightly and hummed, "I was not scared by your words or worried that I would degenerate, but you looked at my body so seriously as if you were going to destroy it in the next second. You know, men care about that thing. After all..."

His eyes swiveled.
