Sky's Rejection
Sky’s Rejection Chapter 59

(Dimitri’s POV)

I watch as Sky shovels down her food, exhaustion lacing her facial expression. What could be going on with her? She just woke up from a coma or maybe it was just a deep sleep and now she wants to head back to bed. Something doesn’t feel right.

‘What if she doesn’t wake up again?’ Demon whines in concern. I know the feeling. Since we have gotten back from the Vampire’s land nothing has gone right. I could just be over thinking this though.

“Di? I am done eating but you have hardly touched your food.” Sky stated in concern. I gave her a grin ans stared at her breath taking eyes.

“I am not as hungry as I thought. Shall we head to bed?” I asked her as I stood up and held my hand out for her. She giggled at my gesture as she placed her small hand into mine. I pulled her into my arms and decided to sweep her into my arms. The squeal that left her lips was music to my ears. I stared down at her as love shined in her eyes.

“Are you just going to stare at me all day or are you going to take me to our bed?” Sky asked in amusement as her eyes shined with happiness.

‘This is how I like to see mate. You heard her, take her to the bed.’ Demon growled in demand. I couldn’t agree more with him right now.

“To bed, Mon amour.” I whispered as I carried her up the stairs, my eyes never leaving hers. I watched as she drifted off, her head burying into my chest. I may be concerned that she is sleeping again but one thing I will never complain about is her touch.

(Ariel’s POV)

I am not sure how it all happened, all that I know is that I was extremely grateful Sky woke up from the sleep trance she was in to help me through all of this. I couldn’t have went through with the birthing without her. I know I had Mark but Sky helped in so many ways that I feel bad for all the she – wolves who don’t have a person like her by their sides. I knew she was taking the majority of my pain, I felt the drastic change when she awoke. It felt as if she had woken up just for my pup and I. That would be absurd though wouldn’t it?

I looked down at the sleeping pup in my arms and smile. Parent hood is a beautiful but exhausting experience. After eating for the last two hours and then crying because she pooped I am ready for a nap. She just looks like the world needed perfection. She has thick chess – nut hair with transparent bright green eyes. Her eye lashes matching hair with a ting of red lighting off them. Her tiny little fingers and toes making me realize how little she really is.

“How is our little Liliana?” Mark asks as he walks back into the hospital room with the food I had asked of him, snapping me out of my thoughts. I look up at my perfect mate and soon to be the best father I have ever known. The way he looks lovingly at our pup and I shows how much he really cares. He went and made me a steak dinner, saying the hospital food wasn’t good enough for me. I love his thoughtfulness, no matter how over dramatic he is. The hospital food is made at the pack house so I know everything is edible and extremely good, his overbearing attitude is a normal around here.

“Ariel…. Are you alright? Should I get the doctor?” Mark asked in concern as he begins to freak out that something was wrong with me. Shoot, I got lost in thought again and scared my mate. I didn’t want that to happen, I hate seeing him worry.

“I am fine Dear. I didn’t mean to worry you. I just was lost in thought about our little family. Our pup is just to perfect, right little Lily.” I said as I looked down at the sleeping little pup in my arms. Liliana Grey, the perfect name for the perfect pup.

“Well, as long as nothing is wrong then I will sit next to you and take Liliana from you while you eat.” Mark said as he placed the food on my lap. He slowly lifted Lily out of my arms and sat in the chair next to my bed. I watched father and daughter bond in the corner of my eye as I scarfed down the dinner he made for me.

“Did you eat?” I asked between mouthfuls, keeping voice low. Lily was now clearly sleeping and I didn’t want to disturb the sleep she needed.

“Of course, babe. I ate while you were nursing. Focus on you and don’t worry about anything else right know. I am here for you, both of you.” Mark stated as he placed our pup in the bassinet. I watched as he swaddled her up, making her coo in delight and maybe annoyance. I giggled lightly, causing Mark to whip around, looking at me with amusement.

“What is so funny, babe?” Mark asked in a whisper. He slowly moved towards me, making it look like I was his prey. Within seconds he was hovering above me as I stared at him in happiness. This was our family. He was the father I could always imagine for my pups, he was the protector of our family and pack. I knew that no matter what I would always feel this deep love for him.

“You know we couldn’t have done this without Sky, I felt her take my pain and I hate she isn’t here bonding with us right now.” I said softly, realizing I wanted my friend here to enjoy this moment as well.

“She is the Luna, Ariel. She would do this for all of us because that’s what the mother of the back does. Protects and shields others from pain they can not handle. She didn’t want to be in here because she knows that the parents need to bond with their pup before anyone else.” Mark told me in his sweet voice, as if he was talking to a child. He tucked my hair behind my ear as I stared at him in adoration. I couldn’t have wished for anyone more perfect, the Moon Goddess blessed me with the best mate.

I leaned up, pecking his lips with mine, the sparks flew as I pulled him closer. I needed this. “Shall we rest? I am exhausted.” I exhaled between a yawn. He laughed before wrapping me in his arms. I leaned my head against his chest, listening to his heart beat lullaby me to sleep.

(Doctor Ron’s POV)

This can’t be right. The test must have malfunctioned. I need to re – run these results and replace out what is going on. I sit at my desk, stressed over this tiny little paper in my hand. Do I take this to the Alpha, or maybe the Beta and Gamma need these results. No, I shouldn’t do that until I am certain. Maybe I should just go talk to the Luna? No, that is a bad idea too. She didn’t look well when I saw her in with the Female Gamma. How did she even wake up with these kind of results. Could this have been the only reason everything is happening to her or is there more to it.

This can’t even be possible, what am I saying.

Maybe I just need some sleep, could I be reading the results wrong? No, I have re – read these results to many times for it to be written wrong. I have to do something.

“Nurse Rose?” I call for through the intercom. I need someone to help me here. “I need you in my office right away.”

Within a few minutes, my anxiety increasing as I hear a knock on my door. “Come in.”

Nurse Rose walks in looking concern, could she already know? That isn’t possible I had all of the results coded to keep everything private. Even if I showed her this sheet, she would have no idea what it even means.

“Doctor Ron, are you alright? I know you have a lot on your plate right now with our Luna sick, all of the attacks and our Gamma Female just having her pup but you do look as if you need some rest. When was the last time you slept? If you prefer not to go home I can have one of the employ cots to be brought into your office for you.” Nurse Rose says, she seems generally concerned. Do I really look that bad?

“I appreciate your offer Nurse Rose. I do think it is best I stay over night here due to the new pup. I would appreciate you bringing a cot in here for me. Also have maintenance do it and grab me a few pillows and blanket. One this I need you to expedite is these b***d tests to be ran again. I want fast results and to be awoken as soon as they come in. Do you understand?” I asked with a no nonsense tone. I need her to understand the severity of these results and how time sensitive they are.

“Of course Doctor Ron. I sent a mind link to maintenance and they will be here in a few minutes. I will take these records of… Jane and go get them re – done. I will make sure they understand the rush you need and the certainty of these results. I will make sure they run it right too before going to check on the pup.” Nurse Rose said, I looked at her in skepticism, I am honestly not even sure if I have worked with this nurse before. She seems different, maybe it is just the lack of sleep I am dealing with. I nod in confirmation and hand the paperwork over to her. I watched as she left the room, as maintenance walked in right after.

“Thank you.” I said to the man I have seen every day for the last fifty years. I have told him so many times to retire but I always get the same answer, no one does my job as good as me and anyone hurt or sick needs the best care. I get that, I feel like the newer doctors are more incompetent and like to spread rumors than to give the patients the care they need, that I can give them.

I guess I will try to rest my eyes before I receive those results and I need to go check on the new pup and mother.
