Sold To The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 30
Aria’s POV
It had been three weeks since Scian’s shocking revelation and I had spent those three weeks still very conflicted now that I had heard the entire story.
But what was more surprising was the fact that Roma was here everyday without fail. Sometimes he would stay for an hour. Other times he would stay for two, on some days, I would have been asleep when he came and it would be one of the healers who would tell me when he came.
And on all of those days, neither of us said nothing. Well, I guess for Roma, he didn’t have anything to say. But I had too much to say and didn’t know where to start from.
Once, he had entered the room when I was trying to go to the restroom and had carried me to the bathroom, waiting outside to carry me back to the bed and tuck me in before leaving without a word.
Another time, I had woken up to replace him watching me as I slept and we had stared at each other for a long moment before he stood up and left the room.
There was also the time where he had refused to leave the room as Scian dressed my wounds and I had felt so embarrassed, my eyes filled with tears as he stared at the stitch across my stomach where thee ferals had torn into me. I had seen nothing but acceptance and understanding in his eyes but I was too ashamed of the scars that I knew would form very soon.
It confused me because I didn’t know which side of Roma was really him. Anytime he did something so gentle and caring like that, I could not help but compare him to the ruthless vengeful man that I had first met and who I had glimpsed that night in his chambers.
Sophia had torn into me when she visited, breaking down in tears when she saw my wounds and proceeding to threaten me playfully about never running away again. To cheer me up, she spoke about her crush on Raphael and I laughed as she told me all that she had imagined doing with him.
Speaking of Raphael, he had also come to visit once or twice, but I was asleep then and so I was surprised when the door to my room opened and he was the one that entered.
I didn’t like how disappointed I had felt when it turned out to not be Roma behind the door. I was shamelessly looking forward to his visits. I could not deny that despite my fear of him after what happened in that room even though I now knew why he had done it, he was also so gentle and caring, it made butterflies erupt in my stomach whenever he was near.
“Hello, can I sit?” He said tentatively and when I nodded, he smiled softly and sat, staring at me in a way that he had never done before. Like there was something that he had discovered that I didn’t know about. He looked like he had many questions to ask me. And since I heard from Scian that he was with Roma the night I was saved and had tagged along to rescue me, I had questions that I wanted to ask him too. He would be a much better option than his handsome grumpy superior.
Perhaps it was the bandage on my forehead that made him look at me differently.
“It’ll come off in a couple of days and Scian says that she will release me in three weeks when she is sure that I do not have any issues with my ribs again.”
He nodded, still staring at me and when he looked down at the open sketch pad on my lap, I closed it and hid it under my pillow.
I had nightmares about that hight which had led me to draw all sorts since I was strong enough to be allowed to hold a pencil and it was a miracle that they had saved my bag that had my sketch pad when they found me in the forest. Yet another reason to be grateful to Roma and Raphael.
“I heard you saved me. With the Alpha. And my bag. Thank you.” I added and he nodded, releasing a breath as he finally looked away from me.
“You’re welcome.”
“The last thing I remember was a gigantic werewolf with scary red eyes and fangs. What happened to that wolf? Did Alpha Roma kill it?”
His face paled briefly before he shook his head and shrugged.
“It was Roma who found you. When I got there, you were already in his arms. I think it is best that you ask him yourself what happened. Perhaps he will remember and tell you.”
I fought the urge to scoff because getting answers from Roma Ruggiero especially when he was not interested in speaking was like getting water from a dry well.
For someone with such a handsome face, he was the actual definition of a grouch.
“Okay. I will.” I answered as politely as possible and he nodded his head.
“Well, I came here to explain things that happened that day so that you’ll not disappear on us this time”
I fought back the urge to get upset when I remembered my time in the woods and just smiled.
“I don’t know if anyone has told you, but what you saw that day was not cold blooded murder.” He added and was taken aback when I nodded my head.
“Scian told me.”
“As I speak to you now, preparations are on the way to bury Carmen and her twins in a couple of hours. I would have invited you to attend and say your final goodbyes, but you should get your rest. I just came here to tell you that Roma Ruggiero is not a cold blooded murderer and he didn’t hurt that human because he wanted to. But because he had too.”
I opened my mouth, surprised at the way Raphael had come to explain. Everyone else but Roma himself had come to explain the situation to me and knowing Roma, he probably would never.”
After Raphael left, I continued to draw the wolf that I had seen in my vision on my sketch pad. It looked exactly like it had in my dreams.
And with strokes, I drew how the air brushed through the fur of the creature, black as the night without moonlight, his ears pulled forward and lips tucked up. I drew the four black paws that had stood firm to the earth’s soil and when he rose to his full height on all fours, he was taller than most of the horses I had seen.
What wolf was that and how had Roma saved me from the beast.
I had so many questions that I had to ask Roma and I didn’t know if I would even get an answer to one at this rate.
I yawned, about to sleep when the door finally opened and Roma stepped into the room, his entire body taking up the whole space in the room. And the whole space in my chest.
