Sold To The Demon Alpha -
Chapter 36
Aria’s POV
“Happy Birthday Sophia!” I squealed with the other maids, holding a cake and my friend had a surprised smile on her face just like I had planned.
“Oh my God, you guys, what is going on here?” She asked as she walked into the room, her eyes welling up with tears.
“Don’t look at us. It was Aria’s idea.” Greta, one of the other maids said and smiled at me.
Indeed, it was my idea. When I found out by accident yesterday that Sophia’s birthday was today, I had gone to Scian to ask if it was possible to throw a small party since we were servants and she had told me to ask Raphael and that she would help.
So I had and he had lent us one of the bigger rooms that could contain at least twenty people for a sleepover and I had rallied the maids that I knew would be interested in a party and one after the other, we had gotten what we would need for the party.
Some of them had cried when they remembered that Carmen, who used to bake cakes for everyone in the pack was dead but unlike before when everyone always looked at me with blame, they didn’t look at me like I was just a human stranger in their midst.
And because of that, I was able to make more friends, which made me grateful.
Placing the cake on a table, I let her jump on me, sending us both to the ground and I laughed.
“How did you organize all of this?” She asked as we both laid on the ground and the other girls went about opening the packs of sweets and boxes of donut and helping themselves to it.
“Scian helped. Raphael did too.” I answered and her eyes widened, her smile turning shy.
“Raphael did?”
“I’m pretty sure I said Scian did but of course that’s the only name you’ll hear. And you’ll tell me that you do not have a crush on…” She covered my mouth with her hand and helped me to my feet.
“Don’t say it out loud.” She said with a frown that turned into a smile and we both laughed.
“You have a crush on the nice kind Beta.” I whispered and she rolled her eyes and poked me.
“You’re incorrigible” she said and pulled me towards the other girls.
Sitting on the ground in a circle, we played a series of games and laughed so hard when Sophia was asked to dance for us.
It was the most fun that I had had since I came to the pack and it made me remember my best friend, Nicole. I missed her.
I had lied to her and even Daniel who had kept texting me about my whereabouts that I had moved out of town to stay with a relative. To Nicole, I had explained that it was because of my father’s alcohol addiction and since she knew all about my bruises, because i used to hide at her house back then, it was easy to believe.
Daniel, on the other hand, had not stopped asking me questions that would have been awfully intrusive. If I didn’t know that he liked me, I would have found the questions to be very suspicious.
My phone vibrated in the middle of the games and when I saw the notification, my mouth fell open in shock.
The stipend was more than I had expected. It was even more that what I had earned from my bartending job in town.
“Oh my God, you guys, I just got my stipend and it’s a lot.” I said with a gasp and Sophia grinned.
“A lot of us got ours during the day and some of us yesterday. The Alpha might look like he doesn’t know what a smile is, but he is just and fair.” Greta said and the other maids nodded.
“Speaking of, who would you pick? Roma or Carlos?” Annie, another maid asked all of us and one by one until it got to my turn, we all mentioned Roma.
“I know right, he is so sexy and intimidating and gives off this s*x appeal that makes women want to be handled by him.” Greta said and there was a chorus of agreements that made my face red when I remembered how close Roma had sat close to me yesterday.
“I think Raphael is better though. Who wants a dark brooding man?” Sophia said and the rest laughed.
“Perhaps, but in terms of looks, the Alpha takes the cake.” Annie responded and her eyes landed on me.
“Speaking of the Alpha, you happen to be the first human that he has ever brought into the pack.”
“Really?” I asked, even though Sophia had told me once when I had first come to the pack, and a feeling of pride bloomed in my chest. It made me feel special.
“Yes. We heard that he went all the way into the forbidden forest to save you from the feral wolves. I’ve never seen a feral wolf before.” Greta added and Annie nodded.
“Me neither.”
“Did you guys hear the rumor about the Alpha, though?” Grace, another maid said and all of us turned to look at her.
“What rumour?” Sophia asked and Grace looked around and lowered her voice.
“That he is possessed by a demon. I heard some people talking about it. That he doesn’t shift like the other wolves as he pleases because he is possessed.”
“Hm” Annie answered. “Have any of you ever seen him in wolf form?”
All of us shook our heads even as I wondered whether the rumour was true. I had seen Raphael in his wolf form countless times and even the other werewolves who could shift did it whenever they wanted. But not Roma. I thought it was because he was Alpha and maybe there was another reason for it, but possessed?
Sophia shook her head immediately.
“Come on, let’s not ruin the fun with baseless rumours. Sure, the Alpha may be stern and sometimes ruthless with his enemies, but possessed? I don’t think so.”
“Me too.” I added and when the girls continued to murmur, Sophia cleared her throat.
“Instead of talking about gloomy things, how about you guys listen to my idea?”
“What do you have in mind?” Annie asked and Sophia grinned.
“Tomorrow is the bonfire and as you know, our services won’t be needed as servants once the party starts. So, I was thinking we could go to a party. In town.”
I was the only one who looked surprised by her idea and the rest looked like they were deep in thought.
“Won’t the others look for us?” I asked and Sophia shook her head.
“The Alpha doesn’t really care what we do as long as we are not putting the pack in jeopardy and a little party is not going to hurt anyone, is it, girls?” Sophia said with a grin.
“I’m in.” Annie said and Greta nodded in agreement. Grace said she would think about it and as we continued to play other games, Sophia leaned to whisper in my ear.
“It’ll be fun, I promise.”
