Aria’s POV

“Can you tell me why you’re smiling at that tree this lovely afternoon?” Sophia asked as she sat beside me in the garden and I quickly frowned, not realizing that I had been smiling at the tree.

Because I wasn’t smiling at the tree. I was smiling because of what had happened last night.

I’d thought that the times when I had orgasmed because Roma had helped me touch myself were the best until last night in that study.

I had read enough novels that explained what was happening but actually getting to experience something like that?

I could not even put it into words.

And this time, when he was done, he carried me to the couch in his office and held me till I fell asleep.

There had been no words between us but this time, there didn’t need to be.

“I was not smiling at the tree.” I answered and she nodded, her face telling me that she totally disbelieved what I was saying.

Handing me a lollipop, she gave me my sketch pad that I had asked her to help me pick up from my room on her way here and I smiled.

“Thank you.”

She wriggled her eyebrows at me as I picked up the pencil and opened the sketch pad.

“You look like you are in a good mood, Amelia. What are you going to draw today?”

“A portrait.” I answered vaguely, knowing that she was going to ask who it was for and that I was going to tell her. She knew that I drew portraits of Roma already but this time, she didn’t know why I was drawing this particular one.

Didn’t know that things had changed between me and Roma. I didn’t know what it was yet, but right now we belonged to each other for as long as he was going to have me and it was by far better than the unrequited crush that I had thought would never be able to move beyond that.

“Of who? Scott?” She asked with her brows raised and her lips in a smirk.

My smile dropped and I realized that I had not even told her anything about Scott.

Closing the book, I decided to come clean about as much as I could with her.

“No, not Scott, Sophia. There is nothing between me and Scott. Not anymore. He’s just a friend.”

I had seen him at the infirmary and even though we had exchanged smiles, there was that aura of awkwardness between us that I hoped would lessen with time.

“Don’t tell me that you’re not with Scott because you’re hoping to bump uglies with Roma now or I’m going to knock you on the head.”

“Well, I’m kind of already bumping uglies with him, so…” I trailed off, my eyes widening when I realized what I had just blurted out.

So much for trying to keep a secret from Sophia.

Sophia had frozen in shock and as she blinked at me, my worry turned to amusement at her reaction.

And then she was shaking me as she looked around.

“You’re joking. Tell me you’re joking, young woman.”

When I shook my head, she screamed and then looked around again before she grabbed me and whispered

“So you and the big bad, oh my God, I can’t even say it, so you and him are bumping uglies?”

“Not bumping uglies per say.” I whispered shyly and Sophie’s eyes widened in shock.

“So what have you guys now been doing?”

“Well, I kind of have not yet told him that I’m a virgin.”

If Sophia’s eyes could fall out of their sockets from opening them wide, they probably would.

“Oh my God, I can’t believe that I’m having this conversation with you. But it needs to be had. So, make sure you shave down there. That’s one and then two, make sure that you’re well lubricated when it happens. You need a lot of lube, especially if he’s gigantic down there? Is he gigantic down there? Okay, don’t tell me!” She squealed and I shook my head, knowing that my face was already red.

Just as I was about to smack her for being such a tease, there was a message from Raphael. He wanted to take me somewhere.

Showing the message to Sophia, she rose to her feet and dragged me towards where the car was parked, collecting my sketch pad before she placed her hands on my shoulders.

“I don’t know where you’re going to, but I can’t wait to hear all about it. If I didn’t know that you were knee deep in love with the Alpha, I might have threatened you to not blink at Raphael.” She whispered with an amused smile and we both laughed as Raphael arrived in front of the car.

“Hello, Sophia, Aria. Let’s go.”

“Do I need to change first? Where are we going?”

I was only wearing one of my flowery dresses with no jacket.

“You look just fine. Come on, let’s go.” He said and I waved at Sophia as she went back into the house.

“So, where are we going again?” I asked and when Raphael didn’t budge, his easy smile my own, I looked outside the window with a huff and by the time we arrived at our destination, I was equal parts confused and excited.

We were at the Lake of Truth. The same lake that Roma had brought me to the very first time that I glimpsed the man beneath the cold facade that he wore like a second skin.

As I looked at the lake from where I stood beside the door to the car, I looked at the bridge and remembered how Roma had been sitting down at the edge like a beautiful painting, his dark hair cascading down his neck, so unmoving you would think he was an object.

But there was a slight difference today because on the bridge lay a blanket of goodies.

A picnic! This was a picnic.

Could it be that it was for me?

“This is my stop” Raphael said and when I nodded, he entered into the car and drove off, leaving me standing there looking at the entire scenery before me in awe.

Was all of this for me?

And why?

Moving closer to the edge of the bridge, I looked around and when I saw that there was no one around, I started to wonder what was really going on.

But all I could think about was the fact that this could only have been Roma’s idea, couldn’t it?

He was the one to bring me here and I remembered how he had looked into my eyes when we shared a moment.

‘I understand the need to escape from your nightmares. When I was younger, I used to come here to hide. Later, I came here because it provided me solace.’

Perhaps that was when I started to fall in love with him.

I peered into the water, looking at my reflection and the last thing I expected was for Roma to emerge from the lake.

Losing my balance, I screamed and fell into the water.
