Aria’s POV

When Roma had said he was relieving me of my duties as maid because he wanted to formally make me his woman, well, his girlfriend since I was human and I needed human terms to come to terms of what we were doing, I hadn’t thought he was that serious.

Not until I came out of the study by his side and saw that people were looking at me differently as we passed by the hallway and when I looked at him, my eyes nearly fell out of their sockets when he linked our fingers as we continued to walk.

When I tried to pull away, he raised his eyebrows and I stopped pulling, following him silently until we got to my bedroom in the servant’s quarters.

When we entered the room, I raised my eyebrows and turned around to look at him.

“Your things are going to be moved to the East wing. You can’t stay here anymore, of course. And you’ll have someone, like a personal maid attending to everything that you need. Would you like to pick somebody?”

Everything was happening so fast.

One minute, I had thought it was impossible to even be with Roma and now we were already about to move me out of my room like I was the Lady of the House.

I knew what the East wing was.

Called the East wing even though it was located directly beside the West wing, I had been told that it was the room for the Luna.

The last person to have lived there was not even Selene but Roma’s mother because Roma had not yet been Alpha when he was mated to Selene who had been pregnant for him.

And it was barely weeks after his father died that Selene had also died.

Why was he moving me there?

Did it mean that he saw me as Luna?

Or was I overthinking things?

It was not possible to be Luna of the pack if I was human, was it?

Was this thing permanent between us?

“Your heart is racing, Aria. Breathe.” He placed his hands gently on my shoulders and tilted my chin to look at him and when I swallowed nervously, he kissed me softly.

“Everything is happening so fast, Roma.

The words that I was scared to say were heavy between us.

What if he realized that he didn’t want me anymore?

How long was this going to last?

He was a supernatural creature and would never age.

But I would.

And if he wanted me to be his Luna, what about the pack? Would they accept me?

Did I even want to be Luna?

“We will take things one step after the other, sweetheart.” He whispered, massaging my shoulders as he placed k**s after k**s against my lips and I felt myself melt into him.

Nodding, he took a step back.

“I need your permission to move you to the East wing, sweetheart. You can’t stay here anymore. You understand that, right?”

I could stay with you, I wanted to say but after what had happened when he slept on my bed, I knew he would never agree to it.

“And the maid? Who do you want with you always?”

There was only one option in my mind and even though I didn’t want to have to choose, she was the only one that I wanted to be with me. And the only one that would not tell on me whenever I wanted to do things myself because I knew that I would quickly be frustrated from being treated like a princess every hour of the day.

“Sophia.”

Minutes after Roma left, giving me a goodbye k**s that made my toes curl, Sophia burst into the room, her eyes wide as she pulled me in for a hug.

“You’re such a lucky b***h, you know that, right? And I love you so much. Everyone has heard the news. Everyone in the pack, I mean. And then I just heard that you want me as your personal maid too. Of course who else would be able to put up with your shy a*s?”

“You’re not mad about any of this?” I asked, unsure of everything myself and she looked at me like I was crazy.

“Of course not, sweetheart. You’ve always liked him. And as unreal as it seems, he likes you too. A lot, from what I saw today. I’ve never seen him smile like that. I’ve never seen him smile, period. And as for being your personal maid, of course I’ll serve you. Anything you want. It’s like a promotion to serve the Lady of the Mansion.”

“Is that what I am?”

“You’re moving into the East wing, sweetheart, of course you are. Come, you must be hungry. Once I’m done feeding you, I’m heading out with one of the sentinels to get you some clothes and other stuff. The East wing has already been cleared out so I’ll take you there after food.”

“I hope you don’t mean feed me literally, Sophia.” I mumbled shyly as she took my hand and led me towards the kitchen and she smirked.

“Well, you do look like a cute baby from time to time, so who knows?”

I rolled my eyes at her with a smile and when she laughed, I felt my tense shoulders relax. Maybe it was not so bad after all.

Maybe I was just worrying too much. Maybe I just needed to enjoy it.

We were about to enter the kitchen when Sophia’s face changed and she paused at the door.

“What’s wrong?” I asked but then I heard it.

People were discussing about me. The maids in the kitchen were talking about me.

“Just when we all thought it was Salem that was going to rise to that position, she leaves and what? A human?” One of them said.

“She’s not going to be Luna. She’s human and is probably the master’s new plaything for the time being.” Another said and when they chuckled, Sophia growled low, barging into the kitchen before I could stop her.

Before she could reach the two girls, however, I held her hand, drawing her back and the duo paled when they saw me.

“That’s right, you little witches. You should be afraid to be speaking about her like that. And the next time I hear you do that, you’ll face my claws.”

“We’re all Omegas” one of them answered weakly and when Sophia grinned, it was filled with fang.

Omegas could not transform into their wolf forms, but still manifested claws and fangs even though they were weaker than the other wolves.

“But some are stronger than others, Alicia. Do you want to really replace out how deep my claws can go into your throat?” Sophia roared and when they flinched, I grabbed her hand as she took another step forward and when she turned to face me, I shook my head.

“Please, let’s go.” I whispered to her and when she realized that I was on the verge of crying, she retracted her fangs and claws and took my hand, leading me out of the kitchen.

“Don’t listen to them, Aria.” Sophia said as she led me to the East wing and even though I nodded, I wondered if they were right.

About me being nothing more than a plaything for Roma.
