Sebastian’s fists were tightly clenched as he furrowed his brows, ‘Who spilled the beans to you?”

“Don’t get your knickers in a twist,” Stephanie replied. “I’m not looking down on you or anything it just makes me feel sorry for you.”

“Stephanie” Sebastian spat out her name through gritted teeth.

Stephanie looked confused. “Did I say something wrong?”

Seeing her like this made Sebastian’s heart ache.

He took a deep breath, “From now on, don’t believe anyone unless the words come straight from me

“Is it all a bunch of baloney?” Stephanie questioned.

“Who told you all this?” Sebastian asked.

“Jeffrey Perez”

A mocking glint passed through Sebastian’s eyes. “He sure knows a lot.”

“So, is it true or not?” Stephanie pressed.

Sebastian answered, “Yesterday was my birthday… but it wasn’t the anniversary of my father’s death or my aunt and uncle’s wedding…

“Jeffrey lied to me! I’ve been heartbroken for nothing‘ That’s low!” Stephanie furned

Sebastian was curious. “Why were you heartbroken?”

“I just felt sorry for you… I thought there’s no one more pitiful in the world than you,” Stephanie explained.

Sebastian chuckled, “There are plenty of pitiful people in this world… I don’t see myself as one of them.”

“But… I only feel sorry for you, not anyone else… Stephanie responded.

“Don’t fret.. don’t take Jeffrey’s words to heart. I’m doing just fine now,” Sebastian comforted.

“Even if those things didn’t happen on the same day, they did happen, didn’t they?” Stephanie asked.

Sebastian hesitated before answering. “Knowing too much isn’t always a good thing. Don’t overthink, those are things of the past.”

“Since I’m here, I’ll keep you company, Stephanie offered.

Sebastian nodded, “Mm.”

That Jeffrey dared to shoot his mouth off! Still hoping to see Ashley Morris? He can dream on!

They spent nearly an hour at the cemetery before finally departing. During their time there, Stephanie took the lead in conversation, providing company to Sebastian’s father. As Sebastian listened to her words, memories of his own childhood were evoked, prompting him to share his recollections with Stephanie. Surprisingly, the atmosphere between the two living individuals and the memory of his deceased father felt oddly comfortable

On their way back, Sebastian’s phone began to ring. He glanced at the caller ID, seeing that it was Jeffrey calling Without any interest in engaging. Sebastian chose to ignor the call and ended it. Despite the persistent attempts, Sebastian continued to decline the subsequent calls without answering.

Curiosity getting the better of her, Stephanie observed his actions and inquired, “Who was that calling?”

*Jeffrey‘

Stephanie laughed, “He still hasn’t given up! You can’t tell him my teacher’s address.”

“I don’t know it. Sebastian replied.

“Right, you don’t know it either… But why didn’t you tell me that I spilled everything to Jeffrey when I was drunk?”

“I was waiting for you to realize it. Wouldn’t you be more upset if you knew?”

“Seriously Are you pulling my leg, watching me get all worked up? I’ve been beating myself up over last night, I almost missed your birthday!”

“Is a birthday that important?”

“Of course it is, it only comes once a year! If we missed this year, we’ll have to wait until next year. Who knows if we’ll still be together by then!”

Hearing this, Sebastian asked somewhat unhappily. “Why wouldn’t we be together?”
