Zoey tugged Wendy to sit down on the couch in her bedroom.

“Come on, Wendy. Stop sulking. Since Lionel has to stay at Hallsbay a little longer for work, why don'tyou stay here with him? Didn't my mom say that it's almost Thanksgiving? We can have a nice dinnertogether then.”

Wendy's expression was still dark. Boiling anger simmered in her eyes.

Lionel has been keeping me at arm's length since we arrived at Hallsbay. Every time I look at him, it'slike trying to replace my way out of a foggy maze, hazy and ethereal. It's like he can disappear, leaving meat any moment. All his changes were because of that woman from the Saunders family. She's the onewho ensnared Lionel's soul and left me with an empty shell.

Zoey's heart surged with joy when she noticed Wendy trying to suppress her rage.

It looks like I'm right. This princess does have hatred and resentment for Victoria.

“What's wrong, Wendy? You look as though something is bothering you. If you're troubled bysomething, you can always talk to me. We're cousins now, so I'll definitely take your side. Did Lionel dosomething to make you sad again?”

Wendy pressed her lips into a line and turned to Zoey. “Zoey, do you know Victoria Saunders?”

“Um...” Zoey paused. Hesitation crept up her face as she purposely fumbled with her words. “Victoria...S-She...”

Seeing her stammer, Wendy snickered. “Whatever. You're Lionel's cousin. Naturally, you'll take hisside. I'm sure you're unwilling to help me expose him. I'll be taking my leave if there's nothing elseimportant. Let's meet again if there's a chance.”

She was about to get up from her chair when Zoey hurriedly reached for her hand. “I'm not on Lionel'sside. I'm worried that you won't be happy if I bring Victoria into the conversation. After all, she's Lionel'sex-girlfriend, and they had an intense relationship. However, don't worry. That woman betrayed Lionel. Iwant nothing more than to tear off that fake, innocent mask she wears,” Zoey explained urgently.

Wendy cast a sideway glance at Zoey. “Is that true? You don't like her too?”

Zoey answered resignedly, “Wendy, what's up with your question? She was the one who caused UncleBenjamin's death and tarnished Lionel's reputation. How can I like her?”

“Then, will you help me chase her away from Lionel's side?”

Wendy grabbed Zoey's wrist and went on in a choked-up voice, “She's approaching Lionel again. I'msure her motive isn't pure. It was hard for Lionel to turn over a new leaf. I don't want her to ruin himagain.”

Zoey looked at Wendy with puzzlement. “How can she be so shameless? She hurt Lionel before. Howcan she—” Zoey stopped her rambling. “Wendy, you can't have mercy on her. You could ignore Lionel'spast since you two were strangers seven years ago. However, he's now your lawful husband. It's timeyou use some tactics.”

Wendy stared at her with shock. “W-What tactics?”

The corners of Zoey's lips quirked up into a smile while a calculative gleam flashed across her eyes.

Victoria is Bailey's best friend. All I have to do is instigate this dumb princess to cause trouble forVictoria. When Victoria has nothing left of her, I'll get my revenge on Bailey.

“Don't forget, Wendy, you're Lionel's lawful wife. The public will accuse Victoria of being a homewreckerif they replace out she's trying to interfere in someone else's marriage.”

Wendy clenched her fists. “You're saying—”

“Shh.” Zoey placed her index finger in front of her lips. “Sometimes, it's better not to say certain thingsout loud, as long as we both know what it is. After all, the walls have ears.”

In the laboratory of Dyke Pharmaceutical, Juliana peered through the window at the grounds below andsaw a familiar figure come into her sight.

“Master, I'm leaving since I have something urgent to deal with.”

Bailey lifted her gaze to Juliana before shifting it to the window. She spotted Zeke walking toward hiscar under the protection of his bodyguards.

Hmm... Has she finally fallen in love?

Bailey was baffled at the thought of Juliana being in love. Something indescribable glinted in her eyes.

When Bailey looked over her shoulder, Juliana was already gone from the room.

“I'll take it as an agreement from you if you stay silent, Zeke. Let's go!” She tried to get into the carbefore he could realize what she was doing.

Zeke immediately stopped her. “You sure are easy-going, Ms. Stone. With that character, I'm sure a lotof people like you. However, you know I'm your cousin-in-law, right?”

He was hinting at her with his words.

How can I be unaware of her feelings for me when I'm such a keen person? I have to think twice beforerejecting her feelings since she's Bailey's disciple. I hope that reminding her about our relationship candraw the line and set some boundaries.

Juliana pouted.

What cousin-in-law? I want him to be my husband.

“Whatever. Where are you going? Can you give me a ride?”

Zeke pondered briefly before smiling. “I'm returning to the Shurmer residence. Coincidentally, yoursister and brother-in-law are there as well. Let's go together.”

Juliana's eyes sparkled at his offer.

He's bringing me to meet his parents so soon?

“Okay! Before that, though, why don't you accompany me to the mall to buy a dress first? Then, we'llshop for presents.”

Zeke didn't know how to respond to her thought process.

At that moment, Zeke's phone rang. He apologized to Juliana before walking a distance away to pick

up the call.

Juliana swiftly clambered into the car, worried he would go back on his word.

Zeke ended the call and walked back to the car. With a smile, he said, “Lionel has left the Shurmerresidence due to urgent matters, but your sister is still there. I'll have someone send you over. I won'tbe joining you as I wouldn't want to interrupt you gals from having a fun time.”

With that, he shut the door in Juliana's face and turned to one of his bodyguards. “Send Ms. Stone tothe Shurmer residence. Treat her with care.”

“Yes, sir,” the bodyguard answered.

“Hey!”

Juliana tried to open the door when realization dawned upon her, but the lock was already in place.Hence, she could only watch as the car slowly pulled out of its parking space.

Her temper flared, and she started cussing at the window. “Zeke, you're a hypocrite! How dare you trickme! I'll remember this and bother you every day. I refuse to believe you won't be frustrated by the end.”
