Chapter 336

Indeed, Bailey could not leave, for that man had trapped her heart in Hallsbay.

Regardless of whether his injury was genuine or not, regardless of whether he or his enemy had firedthat shot, all she could think of at that moment was the image of him in a pool of his own blood after hetook the stab for Zayron the other time.

Bailey did not dare to take the risk when it came to Artemis' life.

If he was truly injured, all that waited for the madman if she did not return was death.

Raiden narrowed his eyes at her and asked with a lifted brow, “What if I don't agree with turningaround? What would you do?”

Bailey lifted her head to glance at him. The only thing she said to him was, “Then you will be myenemy.”

Raiden smiled bitterly.

“The love you have for him is immense. How can Artemis be so fortunate to have your affection?”

Bailey inclined her head a little and muttered, “I don't think that's the case. It's not good fortune that hehas met me but ill fortune. I've dragged that divine man off his throne and tainted him with worldlydesires. I've made him an ordinary man.”

A dark look danced across Raiden's eyes. A while of silence later, he turned and headed toward thecabin.

Bailey quietly watched him leave before sighing inwardly.

Artemis had won.

Not only did he win her, but he even won Edmund and Raiden.

Upon reaching the port, Bailey rushed straight to Justin's medical base.

When she darted into the emergency room and saw Artemis leaning against the wall, completelyunscathed, she went cold with fury.

Disregarding the other Luthers who were present, Bailey slapped him.

Smack!

The sound snapped the dazed Luthers back to their senses.

Almost immediately, Felicity roared, “How dare you hit my son, Bailey Jefferson?”

Bailey shoved her aside aggressively, making Felicity stumble back until she fell into Gerald's arms.

“Y-You pushed me?”

Felicity struggled to get out of her husband's hold to fight with Bailey.

“That's enough. Hold your tongue if you don't want to see your beloved grandson die. We will need torely on her.”

Bailey ignored all the noises around her and uttered in a mocking, contemptuous manner, “Weren't youshot? Where's the injury? Where's the bullet? Didn't you say that you were on the verge of death? Whois this healthy man in front of me, then?”

Artemis pursed his lips and said grimly, “Max has been bitten by a cobra. Justin isn't in town, and themedical team hasn't come up with the right antidote yet. Please save him.”

“What does his life have to do with me?” Bailey raised her voice. “Do you think of me as a saint? Am Isupposed to save everyone who's in trouble?”

Anyone in her position would have exploded in anger. Only God knew how anxious she had been whenshe had rushed back here.

Yet, the supposedly dying man had no trouble standing in front of her.

Despite not actually wanting him to be hurt, she could not stop the wrath from taking over her mind.

“I'm sorry,” Artemis said in his hoarse voice.

Then he grabbed her arm and pulled her into the emergency room.

“Let go!” Bailey bellowed as she thrashed around. “Artemis Luther, you're a madman! You're a b*stard! You're nothing but a pest! You're bullying me! All you know is to be mean to me!”

As she shrieked curses, tears welled up in her eyes, and she began bawling.

Artemis pursed his lips before turning to shout at the doctors in the room, “You useless bunch! I can'tbelieve you've failed to develop the right antidote until now! Why should we still hire you? Get the f*ckout right now!”

The doctors scrambled out of the emergency room.

Once they were gone, Artemis pulled her into a tight hug. “Max took the hit for me. I was supposed toshoot myself, but the silly boy was scared that I might die, so he let a snake bite him instead. I'm sorry.I couldn't protect our boy well and made him suffer in my place.”

Although Bailey was crying, she still had a good head on her shoulders.

When she registered his words, she slowly lifted her head to stare at him. In a trembling voice, sheasked, “W-What do you mean? What do you mean by our boy?”

Artemis turned her head to make her look at the boy on the bed. “Look, doesn't his face seem familiar?Doesn't he look like you?”

Bailey began shaking. “No. No, no, no. He can't be my child. Artemis, don't do this. Don't do this to me,please. I really, really don't want to be filled with hope, only to have my hope taken from me again. Mychild died in the delivery room back then. He died. He was gone.”

At that, her last bits of calmness shattered as her face turned pale. She was on the verge of a mentalbreakdown.

Artemis tightened his grip on her before leaning closer to plant kisses on her pale cheeks. “There's noway this is a mistake, and I won't let your hope turn into despair anymore. Bay, Max is really our eldestson. Rhonda took him away.”

Something in Bailey's mind exploded, causing her to tremble even harder.

“No, that's not right. I've done a DNA test for them before. Max isn't Rhonda's biological son, and he'snot her nephew either, so there's no way he's my eldest son. He's not mine. No, he isn't. Artemis, you're really doing everything just to keep me by your side, huh?”

Artemis sighed softly. “He's lying right in front of you. You can always do a DNA test with him. Bay, Iswear I'm not lying to you. Max is your son, and Susan and Zayron aren't Simon's children either. They're mine.”

Bailey's eyes widened.

It was only then a certain thought crossed her mind.

If Maxton was her son, then Zayron and Susan would be Artemis' children.

What's going on? Can anyone tell me what's going on?

After a moment of silence, she struggled out of his arms and walked toward the side of the bed. “Let'sput that aside for now. Show me the test report. I need to know what kind of cobra it was before I cancome up with the right antidote.”

Artemis was silent as he walked to the side.

Shortly after, he returned with a few test reports.

Bailey took them and skimmed through them. “Okay, I know what antidote to make for him.”

With that, she began searching for needles in the room.

After finally replaceing it, she took half a syringe of Maxton's blood before heading toward the door.

“I'll be developing the antidote in the lab.”

Bailey's footsteps were steady, but if one were to look at her closely, one could see that she wasshaking.

No doubt she had taken Maxton's blood for a DNA test.
