Simon: Artemis, I've explained everything to Granddad, and he has calmed down. Hence, you don'thave to rush over to the Chivers residence. Now that you owe me one, this will offset what I did sevenyears ago. Therefore, you're not allowed to hold it against me anymore.

Intrigued by Artemis' sudden smile, Bailey inquired, “What is it?”

Artemis showed her the message instead of replying.

Upon reading it, Bailey was equally delighted. “Back then, in my desperation to raise money to saveGranny, I had no choice but to agree to Rhonda's condition and sleep with an old man. I was surprisedwhen the “old man” turned out to be you. So it was Simon's doing all along. Anyway, message him totell him that I'm eternally grateful for what he has done. Artemis was elated to hear her words.

After replying to Simon's message with what Bailey said, Artemis turned off his phone.

As the smiling Susan joined them, she commented, “Maxton, Zayron, I don't want to be the youngest. Iprefer to have a younger sibling instead.”

Exchanging glances, the boys gave their adorable sister a look before slapping their thighs in unison.

“Fine, I'll make your wish come true.”

“Okay, I'll think of a way to get Mommy pregnant again.”

After mulling over the matter, the brothers shared a glance and spotted the cunning glint that flashedacross each other's eyes.

Zayron remarked, “Given how desperate they are for each other, I'm sure they didn't use anyprotection. Thus, Bailey will definitely take the morning-after pill tomorrow. Hehe... I'll leave this matterto you.”

Maxton patted his chest. “Don't worry, I'll get it done. Bay will not be swallowing that pill tomorrow, I

promise.”

As the brothers burst into devious laughter, Susan clapped her hands in delight.

“Hurray! I'll have a younger sibling soon!”

Meanwhile, at the Gezmond residence, Lionel was on the phone as he lay on the couch in his study.

“Mr. Gezmond, we have discovered Ms. Saunders' location. She has secretly left Hallsbay a few daysago. Traveling together with her is Dwayne Derning, assistant to Luther Group's CEO.”

The mention of Dwayne caused Lionel to tighten his grip on his phone.

“Regardless of where she is and whatever it takes, replace her.”

“Understood.”

Upon regaining his composure, Lionel added, “Do we know where Holden is?”

A deathly silence ensued before the person on the other end of the line mustered the courage toanswer, “Based on our investigations, we have narrowed it down to one person. However, he issomeone so powerful that we're unable to touch him.”

With a darkened gaze and furrowed brows, Lionel asked, “Who can he be?”

“One of Tarragon's leaders, second only to Micah.”

Lionel's pupils constricted abruptly. Even though he knew that Sebastian's father was an influentialperson, he didn't expect the latter to be so powerful.

Tarragon, the mysterious organization that controlled all the underground factions around the globe,was feared by everyone. No one dared to go against them.

Is Sebastian's father really one of the leaders of Tarragon? If that's the case, he should have had thecapability to fight with the Hoffman family back then. Why did he abandon the pregnant Wendy andcause her to fall into such a predicament? She was almost assassinated by her family!

“Okay. I understand. There's no need to investigate any further. If we don't stop here, I'm worried thatwe would bring unnecessary trouble upon ourselves.”

“Got it.”

Falling into deep thought after the call, Lionel decided to see Micah.

Since he was told that Micah was in Hallsbay recently, he figured it was best to replace out about Holdenstraight from the horse's mouth.

Inside a private room on the top floor that night, Sylvester and Micah were sharing a drink, while Jerry,abstaining, was playing games on his phone.

When Sylvester threw a kick at Jerry out of nowhere, his toes struck a steel plate when the latter swiftly

dodged, causing him to howl in agonized pain.

F*ck, isn't he engrossed in his game? How did he see my kick coming?

After being humiliated by Jerry, Sylvester turned toward Micah, who was gulping down his wine, androlled his eyes.

“Justin has gone in pursuit of his girl, while Dwayne is spending time with his first love. As for Ratemis,he's intoxicated in a woman's bed, leaving both of you here. One is addicted to his games and theother only cares about drinking. F*ck, this is so boring. I'm outta here.”

With that, he got up to leave.

Narrowing his eyes at the other man's leaving silhouette, Micah asked in a nonchalant tone, “Jerry, isthere any progress on the matter I asked you to investigate?”

“The Saviors, Veikko, Bailey, Shannon.”

After spitting out the names one by one, Jerry lowered his head and continued with his game.

Micah's brows knitted in response.

The Saviors? Veikko? Bailey? Shannon?

After a momentary silence, he clarified, “Are you saying that Bailey sent Veikko of the Saviors to protectShannon? As long as I can replace Veikko, I can replace her?”

Jerry ignored him.

Whenever he immersed himself in his game, he could go on playing for three days without eating.

He might not even realize if there was a fire.

Nevertheless, Micah trusted his friend, as the latter wouldn't be known as Tarragon's top detectivewithout the required skills.

His answer has proved that all those parties are connected, confirming my suspicions. Therefore,Bailey must know where Shannon is.

The next day, when sunlight illuminated the room through the windows, Bailey was awoken by itsjarring rays.

The moment she opened her eyes, a layer of haziness covered them still.

Subsequently, the soreness of her limbs washed over her, bringing clarity back to her mind.

As she looked to her side instinctively, Artemis wasn't there.

Evidently, women can't compare to men. Even though he did most of the work last night, I'm still theone who's drained.

As she sat up from bed while leaning on the headboard, the residual marks on her body elicited a sighfrom her.

At that moment, the door was pushed open, and in walked Artemis with a tray in his hand.

On it was breakfast—consisting of milk and bread—and a box of medication.
