Chapter 529

Bailey had already been dispatched for emergency rescue by the time Artemis arrived at the Shurmerfamily's medical base.

His heart sank when he saw Zeke leaning against the wall while drenched in blood, appearing dejectedand confused in his thoughts.

Who's blood is that? Is it that woman? How much blood did she lose? I wonder how is she doing now?

Artemis hurried to the emergency room, intending to storm in and ascertain the woman's condition.

Fortunately, Zeke snapped out of his trance and hurriedly stepped forward to stop the man's recklessbehavior.

“Please calm down. They are trying their best to save her. She's in the good hands of all the experts inthe Shurmer family. I'm sure she'll be fine,” he assured.

Artemis glanced at Zeke's stained white suit and hissed, “Take a look at the blood on you. How can I beconvinced that she's fine?”

The rebuttal left Zeke at a loss for words.

Bay said that the baby was gone. Why am I still hoping for a miracle?

Zeke responded in a quavering voice, “She said that the baby was gone. I had no idea how to save her. There was so much blood on her. She was already in a coma when I carried her to the hospital base.”

Artermis' body tensed up with every word the man uttered.

He became so tense that one would think he might lose his mind in the next second.

“Don't worry, Artemis. I'm confident Bay will be fine. You two are still young. There will be numerousopportunities to have another child,” Zeke comforted.

The man shut his eyes and replied in a hoarse voice, “I'm all right. I never wanted the child anyway. She had a serious case of prepartum depression. Maybe it's best that she lost the child. She won'thave to go through the pain and agony of pregnancy.”

Despite Artermis' declaration that it was a blessing in disguise, his fists were clenched tightly.

After all, even a vicious tiger would not devour its young. How could his heart not ache after witnessinghis child's death?

However, if he had to choose between Bailey and his child, he would not hesitate to choose the former.

She was his everything; he could not live without her.

“Tell me what happened,” Artemis demanded.

When he heard the man's words, Zeke's rage flared up once more. He detailed their meeting atCentury Grandeur briefly.

“Fortunately, Bay was familiar with hypnosis, or the Jeffersons might have gotten their way,” he added.

Artemis' eyes flew open to reveal a murderous glint.

What made her decide to give up her child in order to establish her innocence? The baby could havesurvived if she hadn't used hypnosis. However, this would tarnish her reputation. She must have beentorn between the two choices. Alas, she decided to sacrifice our child. No wonder she swore to destroyRhonda and Clarence. It's her way of taking revenge and venting the hatred in her heart.

After a moment of silence, Artemis took out his phone and called Dwayne. “Ask the public relationsdepartment in Luther Group to report Rhonda and Clarence's wrongdoings at Century Grandeur. I wantthe world to know of their dirty secrets. Do you understand?”

Dwayne did not question him and simply followed his instructions.

The emergency room door swung open the moment the call ended.

A middle-aged doctor exited, her expression solemn.

Zeke hurried forward and asked, “What's her condition? Is she all right?”

The doctor massaged her temples and uttered grimly, “The drugs in Ms. Jefferson's body have beencleared. However, she lost too much blood and sustained serious injuries. I'm afraid the fetus in herbody is gone, Mr. Luther.”

“How about Bailey? Is she all right? Would she recover well?” Artemis probed.

The doctor reported truthfully, “She'll be fine as long as she nurses her health. Since she did not suffer

a miscarriage because of a traumatic experience, her body is capable of becoming pregnant again. Allshe needs to do is concentrate on recovery for roughly a year.”

Artemis heaved a sigh of relief when he heard that Bailey was well.

Even if they had lost a child, it was more vital that she was healthy.

He would do anything to make sure that she was safe.

“Thank you for saving her. Can we go in and see her?” Artemis asked.

The doctor smiled and nodded slightly. “She's still unconscious. However, you are welcome to push herto the ward.”

Artemis went inside the emergency room as soon as he received permission from the doctor.

Zeke turned to the doctor and instructed, “You are not permitted to discuss today's occurrence withanyone. This includes me giving Ms. Jefferson a blood transfusion. Do you understand?”

“Yes. I won't say anything about it,” the doctor reassured.

Meanwhile, Rhonda went berserk after she woke up and found herself doing unspeakable things withClarence.

The man was equally taken aback. He remained silent as he struggled to understand what hadoccurred.

The police led the father-daughter duo back to the Jefferson residence.

Once they arrived, Beatrice ripped a horrendous shriek and pounced on Clarence.

She yelled, “You, Idiot! How could you be so foolish? Have you forgotten that Ronni is your daughter? How could you commit such a sin? Have you ever spared a thought for her, even if you don't careabout your reputation? My hope of marrying her to a wealthy family is ruined. This is all your fault! Ihate you so much!”

Clarence remained rooted and allowed Beatrice to release her rage on him.

He eventually could not endure the constant reprimands and spat a mouthful of blood. His eyes rolledback in his head as he dropped to the ground.

The younger servants were eager to distance themselves from Clarence and Rhonda's scandal. As aresult, when the news broke, they resigned promptly, even prepared to forego their income.

Clarence's sudden collapse startled the elderly servants, who opted to stay. They immediately carriedhim to his room to rest.

“Why is this happening? How could you be so stupid to be fooled by Bailey? Your reputation is ruined! How can I depend on you to support me for the rest of my life?” Beatrice bemoaned to Rhonda with alook of despair.

Rhonda let out a scoff. Her face was devoid of color, and her deep, penetrating eyes were hollow as ifher soul had abandoned her body.

Zoey and Sofie were hanging out at the coffee shop. The former grunted, “I thought we could destroyBailey this time. I never expected the Jeffersons to be so useless. They wasted such a goodopportunity!”

Sofie swirled her coffee and said casually, “There's no hurry, Zoey. We have plenty of opportunities toteach her a lesson. Moreover, this wasn't a wasted opportunity. She must be devastated to learn thather baby is gone. It's our chance to get rid of her while she's suffering from a shattered heart.”

Zoey scoffed, and her phone rang just as she was ready to respond.

It was a call from her bodyguard.

She picked up the phone and enquired, “Is the b*stard in Bailey's belly gone?”
