Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 150 A Smart Woman

After all the commotion and insults she threw, Lucy started to see a friend in Nancy. Something in the latter seemed so genuine and comforting, which the former had never felt in any of her friends before. "I know. I will never listen to her anymore." She nodded while flashing a sweet smile. "Good girl!" Nancy expressed while locking her arms around Lucy.

"My daughter is so innocent and pure. She's not devious!" Lucy's father muttered in support of her daughter.

"I agree with you, sir. I also think that she is a kind girl!" Nancy agreed, nodding. She also thought Lucy was under the influence of a bad friend like Dorothy; that was why she was prompted to act rudely before. But now, she could see through the young woman.

"Thank you, Nancy!" Tears began forming on the corner of her eyes as she felt delighted with all the compliments.

No one had expected such a turn of events.

Everyone was surprised while clapping their hands for Nancy.

"Grandpa, how is Nancy?" Joseph suddenly asked, holding a glass on his hand while smiling with admiration.

"Well, she's a smart girl and a much better one than Dorothy," the patriarch of the Fu family responded coldly. Even with his old age, Frederic had a talent in seeing through people's eyes. Just a while ago, he saw the inherent fury and fiery of Doris and Nancy's calmness.

If he were to be honest, the old man didn't expect Nancy to handle things in such a smart way.

"Grandpa, I like her a little. What should I do?" Joseph revealed as he watched Nancy and intently stared at her from head to toe.

"Remember, Joseph, the smarter women are, the more horrible they are!" His tone was grave as he spat those words.

"What do you mean?" The young man was confused as to what his grandfather meant.

"You'll learn what this kind of women are capable of one day!" Although Frederic was talking to his grandson, his eyes were all on Nancy, thinking that the woman was too intelligent for her age. More than that, she was also beautiful, wise, and talented. Frederic was almost sure that she would be of use if she married into their family.

While they intently watched the young woman, Charles walked towards her with two goblets on his hands.

"You did a great job!" he congratulated, handing a glass to her. "I'm flattered," she replied with a shy smile. Then, taking a sip of wine, she lowered her voice and said, "I learned from the you. You're a great teacher."

"Ha-ha, such a tease! But I like it! I like you this way. In fact, I'm liking you more each day that I think I'm going crazy. I can't live without you."

"You must be drunk, Mr. Charles. You were able to survive all those years before meeting me, so I'm sure you'll live through another decade without me," Nancy responded indifferently, sporting a straight face to not reveal what she was actually feeling.

Because although she sounded cold and distant, a pang of pain rose in her heart as uttered those words.

She was looking forward to spending the rest of her life with Charles. In fact, she was so confident they'd be together forever, building a happy family and making memories to last a lifetime.

But reality kicked in and slapped her in the face, making her realize that they were not right for each other. And because of that, Nancy swore not to fall in love anymore.

Those thoughts and feelings consumed her through the night until the banquet was about to end. Guests began to leave one after another, and the crowd eventually thinned.

At the same time, Landon, whose face was red because of wine, sent the guests out one by one.

Although he was already 80 years old, the man could still walk and stand on his feet until this late.

But surprisingly, he was tripped on his crutch and fell on the ground.

"Grandpa!" Sarah and Stoney, who were both in the garden, yelled in worry.

The two were busy laughing and playing together when Sarah saw the old man tripped.

So in a hurry, she quickly ran towards him.

"Ouch, it hurts!" the old man complained. After all, Landon was already of old age, so such a big fall wouldn't be too bearable.

The grimace on his face exhibited how severe the impact was. In fact, he couldn't even get himself to stand up even with Sarah's help.

"Help! Dr. Nancy help! Grandpa fell down!" Sarah called out because she knew that Nancy and Charles were still inside the villa.

And true enough, Nancy quickly ran out after hearing the former's desperate voice.

"What happened?" she asked after getting to where Landon and Sarah were.

"Grandpa fell down accidentally," Sarah cried anxiously, obviously at a loss while looking at her grandpa helplessly sitting on the ground.

Immediately, Nancy squatted and checked on the old man. "Grandpa, which part of your body hurts?"

"Ouch! My whole body aches!" Landon shouted, irking in inexplicable pain while squinting both his eyes.

"Oh, okay. Hmmm...can you move your legs?" Nancy asked, now beginning to sound just like a surgeon. Landon tried to move his leg, but it was so painful.

"I can't. It's painful," he said with a contorted face that showcased the discomfort of his injury.

Luckily, Sarah called an ambulance and arrived soon to give aid.

"We need to go to the hospital now!" Sarah ordered the medic in a frantic voice. After Landon was loaded into the ambulance, it headed straight to the hospital, with both Sarah, Nancy, Jay and Charles inside. And while on their way, Sarah couldn't stop crying as she held her grandfather's hand tightly.

At the same time, Charles had already called the hospital and asked them to prepare a stretcher for the man.

"I don't want any other doctor but Dr. Nancy to examine me," Landon ordered stubbornly, not minding the emergency he was in.

"Grandpa, I'm a pediatric doctor. I can't examine you," Nancy coaxed the old man as if he was a child.

"I've never had surgery in my life. Will I undergo one just because of this?" Although the old man was skeptic, deep down, he was actually afraid of undergoing major surgery in his age.

"It's just a broken bone, grandpa. Don't worry," Sarah replied in a soft tone, obviously trying to distract her grandfather from panic.

"Let Nancy examine me, or I won't go to the hospital." An old man was like a self-willed child, allowing himself to do whatever he wanted. Besides, even his children and grandchildren spoilt him with his caprices, so this one wouldn't be any different.

"I only want you to examine me," he repeated, now glancing at Nancy, who sat beside Sarah. "Please do as he says Nancy. It's just a broken bone anyway and not a matter of life and death." This time, it was Jay who interrupted and persuaded Nancy.

"This is against hospital policies. I can't examine patients randomly. I can only perform medical treatment for kids and not for elderly people," she insisted, hoping that they would understand where she stood. If she would do as requested, the directors and higher-ups might replace out she violated the rules. That might even result in her suspension.

"Humph!" Hearing her response, Landon turned away from them in anger.

"How about this, Grandpa? After you finish the operation, you can transfer to the pediatric department, okay?" Jay uttered patiently as if he was tricking a child.

"Fine! But make sure I'll be transferred as you said!" After careful consideration, the old man finally compromised.

So, when they arrived at the hospital, the doctor immediately conducted a general check-up for him.

The X-ray result showed that his right leg was indeed fractured from the fall. And because of that, he needed immediate surgery.

To calm the old man, Nancy assisted Ethan, the surgeon, in performing the surgery for Landon.

It took them a couple of hours, and thankfully, the operation was very successful.

Then, with the permission of the hospital, Landon was transferred to the Second Pediatric Department, where Nancy and the Fang Family spent the entire night.

After making sure that Landon had settled in just fine, Nancy went into the lounge. Charles, like always, accompanied her, taking a shirt and a cup of coffee in his hand.

"You need to rest. Change into these clothes," he said gently, handing the clothes to her.

"Thank you." Nancy was too tired to even fight with him on this one. So instead, she merely replied in an indifferent tone.

"Why do you have to be so polite and distant to me?"

A hint of hurt and disappointment coated Charles' voice. But he refrained himself from being so stubborn now that Nancy evidently looked exhausted.

"Come on. Just drink this coffee. It will make you feel better." Then, he took her hand and gave her the cup.

"You don't have to do all of these, Charles. In fact, you can go home now." Seeing the sadness in his eyes, Nancy felt terrible for being so cold towards the man. Charles rubbed his eyebrows helplessly. Having been in the business world for so many years, he thought there was nothing complicated.

But meeting Nancy and falling in love with her definitely changed his mindset.

Everything he did, his efforts and hard work, seemed nothing to her at all.

"I want to take care of you all my life. Why won't you let me do that, Nancy?" he lovingly said as he stared deep into her eyes.
