Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 287 Who Sent The Message
"How are you holding up, Director Nancy? You look really sad." Erin asked gently. Nancy's eyes were filled with tears as she looked at Jessie lying unconsciously on the hospital bed. Nancy merely nodded. She took her gaze from Jessie when she heard her phone buzz.
When she checked it, there was a new message. It said, "What are you doing right now, dear? Is there anything else you want me to do? Just tell me." The message was from Charles. 'If I don't reply to him, will he keep sending me messages?' Nancy thought to herself as she read it.
'When did he become so indecisive? It's really getting on my nerves.'
"Alright, Charles. Please don't text me anymore. Stop bothering me!" Nancy typed her reply but deleted it immediately. She had no time to deal with this nonsense.
"Erin, will you please reply to this message for me!" She quickly handed her phone to Erin.
"Hmm, okay. Let's see..." Erin took the phone and clicked it. "Director Nancy, what should I say?"
"I don't really care anymore. You can say anything as long as it'll make Charles stop sending messages," Nancy replied as she rolled her eyes and fixed her hair. She seemed annoyed.
"I see. Well if you're sure..." Erin turned her attention to the phone and opened the message. After she read it, she smiled and mumbled, "I didn't quite expect that Mr. Fu would say such sweet things!" Meanwhile, Nancy was deeply distressed because of Jessie. She merely sighed and remained silent the entire time.
Even though Nancy and Charles were not a couple anymore, Erin thought that those two had still spent a lot of time together. Therefore, she couldn't just write a stiff reply.
With that in mind, she wrote to Charles, "Honey, I miss you!"
As soon as Charles read the message, he instantly felt elated. He couldn't believe that Nancy actually missed him.
"Oh honey, I miss you too." He typed and sent the message quickly. His heart was pounding a little while he waited for her reply.
When Erin read this, she bit her lips and smiled. She had an idea what to tell him next. "Honey, let's have dinner together tonight. Okay? I have been craving for barbecue lately!" "Okay! I'll text you again later." There was a slight frown on Charles' face. Somehow, he got the feeling that the message was not really from Nancy.
But then again, who else would send him this message except for Nancy? There was no doubt that this was her number.
"Are you done, Erin? Can I have my phone back?" Nancy reached for her phone. She needed to check what Erin sent.
"Sure, Director Nancy! What do you think of my reply? Isn't it perfect?" With a smile on her face, Erin handed the phone back to Nancy. She couldn't quite contain her excitement.
When she saw the conversation, Nancy sighed and thought, 'Why did she say such things to him? Ugh.' "Okay, that's good enough," she lied. She was actually regretting her impulsive decision now.
She did ask her to reply to Charles and even told her she could write anything. But she definitely didn't ask her to please him! This was really embarrassing!
"Can I be completely honest with you? I really think that Mr. Fu is a good man. You should cherish him, Director Nancy! Don't let him down too much. If a man gets too disappointed, he will leave eventually. You don't want to lose him, do you?" Erin said timidly. She stared at Nancy's gloomy expression. She wished that the doctor would stop giving Charles a hard time.
Nancy looked at her and patted on her shoulder. "Erin, remember that love is a matter of two people. However, marriage is definitely not. There are more important things in a marriage than love. Don't be so simple-minded!" She started to walk away. "Let's go. I am scheduled to do an operation today."
She took one last look at Jessie and left. Erin stared after her and pouted her lips. Isn't it normal for a person to sacrifice oneself for someone he or she really loved?
And if two people were married without love, wouldn't the relationship be pathetic? She couldn't imagine a marriage like that.
Hours passed and Nancy's work shift was done. Finally, she could just go pick her kids up and rest.
Just as she was about to lock her office door, Nancy received a message from Charles. "Darling, where do you want to eat? I'll take you there."
Nancy was already extremely tired and cranky. For some reason, she got even more annoyed when she saw the message.
"I'm going to pick up my children, Charles. I don't want to have dinner with you. I just want to go home!" Still thinking about Jessie, Nancy was obviously not in the mood to go out for dinner.
When he received her reply, Charles was utterly stunned. He thought, 'What just happened?'
She was very nice and sweet to him just a couple of hours ago. Why was she so rude and indifferent now?
"Didn't you tell me earlier that you want to take the kids out for dinner with me? What happened? What changed your mind?"
Without bothering to reply, Nancy turned off her phone. She couldn't deal with this right now. She went downstairs and walked briskly to the parking lot. As soon as she had settled into the driver's seat, she threw her bag towards the passenger seat, started the engine, and drove straight to the kindergarten.
She was in a really bad mood all the way to her kids' school.
When she arrived, she went out of her car immediately and strode across the empty street towards the school. What she saw made her heart feel a lot heavier than it was.
It was because as soon as she entered the gate, she didn't see the happy faces of Bobby and Nadia. Instead, she saw her kids bowing their heads and apologizing. The sun was already setting and most of the kids had been picked up by their parents.
A fierce-looking man was standing in front of her kids who looked completely dejected. There was also a kindlooking teacher with them. He was smiling humbly and apologetically towards the man. "Just hold on, Bobby. Daddy will be here soon," Nadia said in a low voice. She was trying so hard to keep herself from crying.
Bobby pressed his lips tightly and said nothing. He remained looking at the ground.
At this point, Nancy had reached where they were standing.
Even from a distance, she could clearly see that Bobby's face was red. It looked like he had been beaten by someone!
"Bobby, what happened? Who hit you baby?" Nancy asked as she hugged him tight. She had let go of him only to examine him further. Her voice was trembling so much. Perhaps it was because of her genuine concern for her child. But it could also be because she had been on edge the entire day.
Bobby stubbornly kept his head bowed and said nothing. However, Nancy could feel that he was trembling in fear.
Out of the blue, Nadia pointed at the man in front of her. "It's him, Mommy! He was the one who slapped Bobby," she yelled before she burst into tears and hugged Nancy. "What?? Why??" Trying so hard to hold back her anger, Nancy asked, "Why did you hit my son?" Her hands were shaking so bad that she had to clench her fists.
"Hey look, you unreasonable shrew! Let me tell you that it's your son who hit my son a few days ago. So today, I decided to teach him a lesson. It's useless for you to get mad at me. I don't care and I'm not scared of you. If you apologize quickly, I will let this pass. But if you don't, I will beat this little bastard right here!" As the man spoke harshly; his spit flew everywhere. How awful could this person be?! "Hey, you are a grown-ass man! How dare you hit a child?! Don't you know that's child abuse?!" Nancy burst out angrily. She could not restrain herself anymore. This man had hurt her son and he had the nerve of justifying his action?
"I..."1 the man stuttered as he tried to replace an excuse for what he did. He suddenly realized that he was in the wrong. But instead of apologizing, he straightened his back and said, "Haven't I told you earlier? I came here to avenge my son! How hard is that to understand?!"
"You cruel, twisted man! I can't even... I have nothing to say to you!" She felt that arguing with him was a complete waste of time. It seemed like he wouldn't listen no matter what she said. Nancy couldn't just understand why a grown man would bully a child over a petty children's squabble.
The child who Bobby had fought with must had been that Garry. The one that Nadia mentioned to her a few days ago!
No matter what misunderstanding the children had, Garry's parents should at least hear the other side of the story. They couldn't just beat her child up! Moreover, they could've just asked to talk to them about it like adults.
"If you don't want to say anything, then just let your son apologize to me. Only then will I consider that this matter is over!" the man shouted angrily. He even had the audacity to force them to apologize! This man was the worst!
"Mommy, it really hurts!" Bobby said out loud as he forced himself not to cry. He kept his head down but he was sure he heard Charles' footsteps.
Because Nancy told him that she was going to pick up the children, Charles thought he had to come by the school too.
He was looking forward to see Nancy today. He got out of the car quickly. To his surprise, he saw her arguing with a man.
Charles' expression immediately turned sour when he saw the two kids standing there looking frightened. They looked really terrified.
When he heard Bobby, the man replied angrily, "I only hit you once. Why the hell are you shouting?"
"No! You hit Bobby several times. I saw it with my own two eyes!" Nadia yelled as she hid behind Nancy.
"Yes he did, Mommy. He hit my arms and legs repeatedly! It really hurts, Mommy... My whole body hurts!" Bobby eventually cried out. He was sobbing so hard he couldn't say another word.
Nancy hugged Bobby close to her and patted his head lovingly. "Sir, if my son really did hit your son, then it was my son's fault. But you can't just beat up my son like that! You should have talked to us about it first!"
"Humph! Your son hit mine first! He got what he deserves! An eye of an eye!" the man replied arrogantly. It seemed like he was still holding on to his pride.
