Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 290 Two-faced
Charles thought Nancy was being reasonable, but he didn't think that he wasn't.
If neither of them backed down soon, this was never going to end
One of them eventually had to give in, right?
Obviously, there was no way Nancy was going to give in. With a sigh, he decided to just concede. After all, he had been used to it.
"Nancy, what do you suggest then? I'll think about it!"
Nancy felt much better now that Charles seemed to compromise.
She said, "Now that Jessie returned the money to her patient, let her go back to work! She tried to commit suicide. We can't just stand by and watch her die, right?"
"Okay, you've got it," he said, smiling helplessly.
He didn't really want Jessie to go back to the hospital.
He didn't want her to lose her life over this either though
"Thank you, Charles. You haven't lost your soft side. You still know mercy!" A smile finally appeared on her stiff face.
"Mercy? Nancy..." Charles gently lifted Nancy's little chin and looked deep into her eyes. "For you, I'd give up the whole world. This small allowance is really not a problem!" "Sentimental!" said Nancy cheekily. "I'll do anything to make you happy!" Charles lowered his head and kissed her.
When she arrived at the hospital the next day, she heard the nurses whispering amongst themselves.
"I heard that Dr. Jessie will be back at work soon."
"Yeah. If she irons out her mistakes I have no problem forgiving her!"
"Isn't it because she tried to kill herself?"
A nurse saw Nancy and quickly made a gesture to cover her mouth. "Stop it. Director Nancy is here."
Nancy stopped and said, "The professional requirements for nurses is very strict. You are in charge of patients' lives. I hope all of you can take it seriously!"
"Yes, Director Nancy!" Several nurses rushed into the ward.
Turning her head, Nancy saw Anna coming over.
Her eyes gleamed with anger.
Nancy grinned. She knew that Anna would be the most upset with Jessie's return.
"Director Nancy, you really hate me!" Anna said aggressively.
"Dr. Anna, what are you talking about?" Nancy didn't think too highly of Anna and nothing was about to change that now!
"I've been working so hard these days. Don't you see that?" Anna sighed.
"Oh? Are you saying that others aren't working hard?" Nancy frowned and asked.
"Are you intentionally twisting my words?" Anna knew that she already wasn't in Nancy's good books. What was the point of trying to pretend to be nice now?
"I'm still very busy. If you're free, you can go see Director Jessie!" Nancy wasn't about to waste her time on such a trivial conversation. She dismissed Anna and was ready to leave. "Director Nancy, do you think that I don't know..." Anna hesitated before finishing her thought.
"What do you know?"
"Forget it. I'd rather just keep it to myself. I'm going to see Director Jessie!" After saying that, Anna was off to Jessie's ward.
Without thinking too much, Nancy walked into her office.
Jessie had woken up, but her face was still completely pale.
When she saw Anna come in, she looked away angrily.
"Director Jessie, why are you staring at me like I'm a mortal enemy? I'm not trying to hurt you." Anna pulled a chair and sat down in front of Jessie's bed as she spoke to her.
"If you came here to mock me, you have achieved your goal and you can leave now!" Jessie said bitterly.
"Director Jessie, what are you talking about? Without your help, I wouldn't even be in the pediatric department. I'm only there because I'm filling in for you. I didn't want to do it but President Hobart asked me to I heard that you'll come back to work soon though. Don't worry. As long as you come back, the pediatric department is yours!" Anna said sincerely.
"Just let me get back to being a regular doctor. I don't want to be the director anymore. You can rest assured! I'm not going to replace you." Jessie laughed at herself, "I'm a sinner. I deserve it!"
"Director Jessie, you're in a lot of pain these days, right? You know, I couldn't figure it out. You said that Nancy was your good friend. How could she do such a thing to hurt you?" Anna picked up an apple nonchalantly and began to peel it.
"What do you mean? My situation has something to do with Nancy?" Jessie thought it was because of her patient, not Nancy.
"Ah..." Anna raised her hand and quickly blocked her mouth. "Bah, look at me blabbing on. Director Jessie, forget what I said. It's just nonsense!"
"Yeah, maybe you are just talking nonsense!" Jessie was getting quite annoyed with Anna. Even though she hated Nancy, she didn't want to show Anna that.
"Well, alright. Since you don't believe me, I'll get going. It seems I'm just wasting my efforts!" Anna placed the apple on the bedside table and left in a huff. Lying on the bed, Jessie got angrier thinking about what Anna said.
All of a sudden, she pulled needle from her wrist, got out of the bed, and ran angrily to Nancy's office.
"Nancy!" Jessie came in shrieking at her.
Nancy was stunned, "Director Jessie? Why are you out of your ward? What's up?"
Jessie walked towards her step by step with a malicious look in her eyes.
Nancy felt a real sense fight-or-flight kick in. "Director Jessie, what's wrong with you?"
"Nancy, you don't need to pretend to care anymore. Thanks to you, I'm not the director of the pediatric department anymore." Jessie gave a sinister smile and said, "I knew you were a good person, so I apologized. I hoped you could put in a good word for me with Charles. I just never expected that you would be the one to hurt me! Nancy, you're quite good at putting on this facade!"
"Director Jessie, I think you must have misunderstood something!" Nancy didn't know how to explain it. After all, it was kind of to do with her.
She didn't mean it though.
How was she going to explain herself?
Nancy was so anxious that her head began to ache. "Director Jessie, please let me explain!"
"Explain what? You told Charles, didn't you?"
Nancy nodded helplessly, "Director Jessie, you did a really bad thing though."
"Yes, what I did was wrong. But if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been fired. You could have asked me to return the money to the patient privately. You didn't do that though. Instead, you asked Charles to fire me and spread the news to the whole city! Only when I met you did I realize what being two-faced truly meant!" Jessie roared.
