Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 583 Unable To Fall Asleep
With his two short legs, Bobby followed Charles to the guest room.
He pushed the door open and watched his father lift the quilt and lie down on the bed. After turning off the lights, Bobby immediately walked out and went to his bedroom. Meanwhile, Nancy was welcomed by the empty living room when she got out of the bathroom after taking a shower.
Where were they? How could it be so quiet?
To answer her questions, Nancy tiptoed into Nadia's room and found out she was already asleep. Then she went to Bobby's room next and saw him lying on the bed. Seeing Nancy peeping at him, Bobby made a face.
"I just came here to say that you are so good today." With an apologetic smile, Nancy walked out of the room.
To her surprise, the master bedroom was empty. She didn't expect that Charles wasn't there!
What was this moody man doing?
Did he refuse to sleep with her?
But Charles was not the type of person to sleep in the guest room, was he?
The more Nancy thought about it, the stranger she felt. She went out and tiptoed to the guest room to see him.
When she was about to open the door and frighten Charles, she vaguely heard his voice from inside.
Nancy breathed out slowly, approached the red wooden door and tried to eavesdrop.
But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't hear what Charles was saying.
It was Joseph who was on the phone with Charles.
Recently, his life had become relatively stable. The movie he and Daisy had been filming was very popular even though it hadn't been shown yet. It had been on the top searches several times. But today, while Joseph was shooting on the set, some policemen suddenly came to take him.
They said they wanted Joseph to cooperate with an investigation.
As soon as Daisy heard this, her face turned cold. Afraid that she would misinterpret it, Joseph tried to explain right away. "Daisy, don't think too much. I didn't do anything illegal. They just need me for an investigation."
Although Daisy didn't say anything, she knew that Joseph didn't have the guts to do anything illegal. He was only lawless when it came to love. As a matter of fact, Joseph was one of the top ten playboys in the city.
Seeing that Daisy didn't believe him, Joseph held the police's hand anxiously. "Sir, you have to explain, or I won't cooperate with your investigation."
The policeman had no choice but to explain the situation to Daisy. "Don't make wild guesses. We are taking Joseph only because we need his cooperation with something."
"Daisy, you may not believe me, but you should believe the police, right?" From the policeman, Joseph's eyes turned to Daisy again.
"Well, it's none of my business. You can go with the police. It's better for you to stay inside for a period of time, so I can have peace." It didn't seem like Daisy was bothered at all, and her reaction made Joseph instantly sad.
How could she not care? "I love you so much, Daisy. How could you be so cruel to me?"
With gritted teeth, she replied, "You don't really love me. You love all women, don't you?"
Feeling dejected, Joseph sighed and did not to explain more. He just followed the police with slumped shoulders.
On the contrary, Daisy was happy thinking that the next following days would be blissful, since she didn't have to see Joseph.
Because ever since they began to live in the same house, Joseph had been like a buzzing fly, surrounding her all the time. It annoyed her so much that she never had a peaceful day.
Joseph was taken away, so they had to stop filming. Therefore, Daisy went home earlier than usual.
After taking a shower, she lazily sat on the sofa.
If Joseph was here, the first thing he would do as soon as they got home was to cook, while Daisy would only rest on the sofa.
It was always Joseph who cooked their meal, and he would just call Daisy when they were going to eat already.
Daisy thought Joseph was just trying to please her, so she never took his efforts seriously.
All of a sudden, her stomach rumbled. She was hungry, but she was too lazy to go to the kitchen.
It was getting darker but Daisy was still sitting on the sofa, consumed with the sadness that she was beginning to feel.
The new year was coming and it was freezing outside, and the empty house seemed colder now that she was alone. So, Daisy stood up and turned on the heater.
Then she turned on the lights and walked into the kitchen lazily.
Left without a choice, Daisy opened the refrigerator to get something to cook.
However, her lips slightly parted when she found out that the fridge was full of her favorite food and ingredients. There was no doubt that Joseph prepared it all for her.
A lump formed in her throat as she stared at the food. Why didn't she feel Joseph's kindness?
Maybe because Joseph had hurt her so much before that she couldn't believe him. She couldn't appreciate what he was doing for her because she was afraid that they were all fake. For a moment, she was lost in various fancies and conjectures. When she came back to her senses, she took out some ingredients she needed.
The delicious spareribs Joseph had cooked for her before suddenly crossed her mind, so she took out the spareribs to stew them.
But when she was chopping the ribs, she accidentally cut her finger.
"Oh, why am I so stupid?" Tears streamed down her face as she stared at the blood on her finger.
With a sigh, she walked out of the kitchen to get the medicine kit and put a bandage on the wound.
After a while, she went back to the kitchen, but she no longer had the mood to continue stewing spareribs, so she put them back in the fridge.
In the end, she chose to cook some vegetables and porridge. She only ate a little and stared blankly ahead, trying to figure out what was wrong with her today. The house was so quiet as if no one lived there.
Loneliness completely enveloped Daisy. It was only then that she had realized that she never felt lonely these past few days when she was with Joseph. In the past, when Joseph was not around, wasn't she suffering like this every day?
As time went by, she became numb and didn't feel lonely.
But now, she felt uncomfortable that he was not around.
It was ridiculous.
After dinner, Daisy went to her bedroom alone and felt even lonelier when she found the bed empty. She lay down and read the script until she felt sleepy.
However, even after she tossed and turned on the bed, she still couldn't fall asleep.
So, Daisy grabbed a pillow and held it in her arms, thinking that it could help, but it didn't.
Was it because she had gotten used to being held by Joseph in his arms when they slept? Did she become dependent on him?
"Damn it!" With this thought, Daisy felt upset. She didn't know whether she was cursing Joseph or herself for developing such a bad habit.
It was not until dawn that Daisy fell asleep, and when she woke up the next morning, she habitually shouted, "Joseph, it's time for you to get up and make breakfast. When she didn't get any response, Daisy sat up to wake him up, only to realize that Joseph had been taken away by the police.
In a daze, she lay down again. Since Joseph was not here and the movie couldn't be filmed, she decided to go back to sleep, but she couldn't.
From time to time, she picked up her phone to check if there was any message from Joseph. She even turned the phone's volume to the maximum level, for fear that she would miss his call.
To her dismay, no matter how many times she looked at her phone, she didn't receive any text or call from him.
