Talented Martial Hero
Chapter 1073 The Cunning Immortal

After the contract had been established, Darren had lost his desire to kill the immortal. He believedthat she, too, had the same feeling. They were both in the same boat now.

"Very well. I shall fill you with spiritual energy, and you should recover as soon as possible."

Time waited for no one. Darren estimated that he only had half an hour at most before he wasabout to fall.

He immediately swallowed the liquefied spiritual energy. He then placed his palm on the immortal'sbelly and let the spiritual energy flow into her.

However, the immortal's body was vastly different from a normal being's. Even though his spiritualenergy was of high caliber, he couldn't cure her instantly.

Waves of spiritual energy surged into her body, transforming into a fainter version of the immortal'spower.

Half an hour passed, and Darren found themselves falling. Inch by inch, they were both nearing thewater's surface. Their robes touched the waves more and more frequently.

But before they could fully go down, the immortal's power streamed out of her body. It pulled themup, inch by inch

At this speed, Darren estimated that it would take them at least dozens of years to pull themselvesout of this pulling force range!

He couldn't wait for that long, so he began transferring more spiritual energy into the immortal'sbody.

One month passed, and half of his spiritual energy liquid was consumed.

During this time, the immortal hadn't fully recovered yet. Most of her power was used to resist thepulling force instead of healing her.

Slowly, they reached the height of three kilometers from the sea surface.

"I'm afraid you will have to resist the pulling force yourself now. I need to reserve my power,"

the immortal said.

"Why?" Darren asked, puzzled.

"The more immortals power I have, the faster I can recover. If we can hold on for a month, I'll beable to get us out of here once I'm ready.”

Indeed, even if she only recovered twenty percent of her true strength, the pulling force wouldbecome insignificant.

"Okay."

And anyway, she couldn't kill Darren now. He had nothing to worry about if he agreed with her."That's not right.”

After thinking for a while, Darren sighed.

"You really are strange and complicated,” murmured the immortal.

It was obvious that she didn't understand his decision. Why did he change his mind?

"Now that you have regained some of the immortal's power, you have to establish a contract withme to release my wife. It's the only way I will feel assured.”

This was his chance to finally get his wife back. He wouldn't dare miss it. If he didn't make theconditions now, he might never have the opportunity in the future.

The immortal fell silent. There was a palpable twitch on her gorgeous face—a sign that her emotionwas about to burst.

"What? You don't want to agree?

My wife is only an ordinary human to you. Why would you want to assimilate her? Why?"

Darren asked. His voice was full of passion and emotion.

When Elsa was devoured by the immortal, she was only a cultivator at the Grand Realm. To animmortal, she was like an ant. Darren couldn't understand why an immortal would want toassimilate Elsa.

"Her pure soul is good for me," the immortal answered honestly.

"Well, now I want you to give her up!"

"I can't do it.” The immortal's cold reply angered Darren again.

"Then let's just die together.” Even though Darren was threatening, there was no killing intentbehind it. The contract would not take effect.

"Your wife has already integrated into my immortal's soul, so I can't release her. In nine thousandyears, I'll absorb her completely.” Indeed, this was the truth. She had already assimilated Elsa's souland wouldn't be able to release it.

"I don't care. You just need to establish a contract with me. Then, we'll have the witcher ancestorhelp me." At the moment, he only needed her promise. As long as she gave her word, he could goreplace the witcher ancestor afterwards.

"Witcher," she repeated.

There was a twinkle in her eyes.

"The witcher is powerful."

Darren was astonished to hear such words from the immortal.

However, he had no time to replace out what she meant by that. He was too focused on getting herpromise.

"How is it? As long as you let my wife go, I won't ask anything else from you. Oh, and also, let go ofDenise as well," Darren said.

The immortal fell silent again.

She seemed to be thinking over his proposal. For her, contracts were not to be taken lightlyespecially since this involved two pure souls. She couldn't let them go that easily.

Once the contract had been established, she had no choice but to fulfill it. If the witcher ancestorcouldn't get the two souls out of her, she could die due to violating the contract.

Moreover, this human could ask the witcher ancestor to kill her right after the process. She wouldn'tbe able to resist him if that was the case.

Even with the Blood-sharing Contract between them, Darren could still order someone to kill her,and he wouldn't be violating the contract then.

A series of complicated outcomes flashed through her mind. There were so many things that couldgo wrong by pursuing this contract. It might even cost her life. She must be careful in weighing thepros and cons.

"If you don't agree, I'll let you die this time. I mean what I say!" Darren continued to threaten her.Her eyes flashed a stream of hostility before it disappeared completely.

This man was crazy. She couldn't be sure if he was serious or not.

After pondering on this for a while, she finally said, "I can give you my word, but you have toestablish another contract with me first."

"What is it?" Darren nodded his head eagerly.

"You must agree not to do anything that could endanger my life under any circumstances!"

"Okay. I promise you that I won't endanger your life. I promise!”

"All right. Keep your soul relaxed. I will pass the contract to your soul," said the immortal.

With that, her strange immortal's spiritual sense rushed into Darren's mind. It was made up of runeswith complicated structures. Those runes were from the Oath Law, which was more advanced thanthe Oath Rule.

She first passed the contract that would bound Darren to never endanger her life.

He accepted it without hesitation. He pledged his oath silently.

But as he was making his oath, he felt the strange stone in his head rotating wildly. The runes beganto disappear into the stone.

He felt his heart stuttering against his chest as he watched the strange scene unfold.

"Done?"

Darren answered tentatively. But he knew that the contract did not come into effect.

"Yes."

To his surprise, the immortal didn't seem to notice this at all.

He kept his shock to himself. He could hardly believe that the strange stone inside his head was somagical that it could resist the power of oath!

The Oath Law was one of the supreme laws!

"Well then, you better hold up your end of the bargain.”

Now it was time for the immortal to agree to release Elsa's and Denise's souls.

"No way."

However, the immortal didn't seem keen on pushing through with the deal.

Only then did Darren realize that he had been fooled. Since the first contract was made, Darrencould not do anything to endanger the immortal's life even if she didn't promise to release Elsa andDenise!

Fortunately, she had no idea that it didn't come into effect.

“Liar! The immortal is too cunning!" Darren thought.
