Chapter 1220 Getting out

An explosion of sheer force rocked the dark, cold space. The Rule Soul Avatar braced himself ascountless blade shadows flashed and flickered in front of him.

Before he could even realize it, the Blade Devil had turned into a blade and rushed towards him.The Rule Soul Avatar didn't understand what had happened. The Blade Devil knew that he was arule cultivator. There was no way he could inherit his blade cultivation. And yet, why was he doingthis?

The Rule Soul Avatar couldn't help but cry out in pain as his body was filled with blade intents. Itwas too much for his body to handle.

It was a good thing that he had activated the Resurrection Force beforehand. It was the only thingthat kept him from exploding from the sheer pressure of the blade intents.

Then, a black bead spun erratically in midair. It shot straight into his heart as soon as he felt like hisbody was returning to normal.

It was painful at first, but when it burrowed deeper into his heart, he realized that the pain eased offa bit.

Nonetheless, he still didn't know what the bead was for. This made it even more difficult tounderstand the inheritance.

Since he didn't know anything about the black bead, he decided to ignore it for now. He sat on theground with his legs crossed and activated his silver eyes. He then observed the law system in theabyss so that he could properly prepare himself.

Three years passed.

The Rule Soul Avatar had come here to avoid the Immortal Lord. He had no other intentions but togrow stronger and continue living. Thus, he didn't mind staying in this cave as long as it kept himsafe. He would only venture out when he felt confident he could handle the creatures in the abyss.However, something unexpected happened in the fourth year of his stay in the cave.

It woke him up in his meditation, and he immediately cast his god's sense out to check out thecommotion. It was then that he saw several skeletal creatures with swords made out of bones intheir hands.

Their eyes twinkled in the darkness as they looked around the cave.

A moment later, they suddenly disappeared, leaving behind a low roar in their wake.

The Rule Soul Avatar immediately stood up upon sensing danger.

And sure enough, a claw appeared out of the darkness and lashed out at him. Fortunately, he wasable to put up a shield to deflect the attack.

He then merged himself into the space to dodge the next attack, and then released his ownattacking law to fend off the other skeletons that came from all directions.

With a loud crack, he was able to smash the skeletons.

There was nothing left but dust from his opponents’ bones.

If this had happened a few years ago, the skeletons would have killed him on the spot.

However, he noticed that there was something strange with the skeletons. They didn't show anysigns of having god's power. They only used their speed and strength to attack him.

It seemed like these creatures were the weakest in the abyss. If such lowly creatures alreadypossessed such strength, he couldn't imagine how powerful the strongest creatures in the abysscould get.

While he was deep in his own thoughts, his ears picked up some squeaky sounds coming fromunderground. When he looked down, all the bones were gone.

Immediately, he could sense that something was wrong.

He activated some laws and began setting down defenses around his body.

Then, there was a loud bang

A bone claw pierced through his defenses and stabbed through his body from behind.

A powerful blade burst out from his body.

It attacked the skeleton creature, shattering it into pieces.

The Rule Soul Avatar looked around and realized that the skeleton creatures weren't exactly dead.They had only condensed together to transform into a stronger skeleton creature.

He couldn't believe that his own carelessness had almost killed him.

It was at this point when he finally understood the Blade Devil's inheritance. The black beadcontained all the Blade Devil's cultivation, and it would release them automatically to protect himfrom his enemy's attacks once he was in danger.

Once the skeleton creature was truly dead, a green smoke curled out of its body and floated up intothe sky.

The Rule Soul Avatar flew up to catch the green smoke, but he failed to grab it on time. In the end,he had to let it go.

'Soul message, * he thought to himself.

He surmised that the dead skeleton was probably sending out a message. He knew then that he hadto get out of this place now.

Up until this point, he still didn't know what the skeleton creatures were looking for.

Nonetheless, he turned himself into a shadow and flew out into the dark.

Soon, he had the cave behind.

After flying for a long time, he finally arrived at a place that was very different from where he hadhidden before.

There was a dark, towering mountain that blocked his sight. He tried penetrating it with his god'ssense, but it was futile.

He looked up at the dark sky and saw heavy clouds hovering overhead. Inside it, there was a huge,red wheel spinning endlessly.

He used his god's sense to probe it, but the wheel simply swallowed it up. In the end, he still didn'tknow what it was.

Ignoring the wheel for now, he continued to fly forward. After some time, he realized that themountains had no end.

Suddenly, a group of grey birds flew across the sky.

There were so many of them that their bodies almost blocked out the sunlight. They left huge massof shadows on the ground, and it almost shrouded the Rule Soul Avatar.

Wanting to avoid trouble, he withdrew his god's sense and held his breath

"Help me..."

He suddenly picked up a faint voice being carried over by the wind. It was coming from somewherein the deep valley.

Under normal circumstance, he tended to ignore such cries for help. After all, he wasn't strictlyhuman. However, there were some times when Darren's true nature affected him. It was inevitablesince he was still his avatar after all.

But now, he didn't want to get into unnecessary trouble in such an unfamiliar environment, so hequickly flew away.

Right then, a sudden roar erupted in the air.

The next thing he knew, there were several people blocking his way.

"A human!" one of the figures hissed.

The creature in front of him had green, frog-like skin. His muscles bugled out of his skin as if theywere on the verge of exploding.

Their eyes, too, were huge and round. It popped out of their sockets. Their mouths were like a wideslash across their face. It looked like a gaping wound. And when they grinned, they showed rowsand rows of sharp teeth. It didn't help that there was also a vile, slimy liquid dribbling out of theirmouths.

"Fuck off,” the Rule Soul Avatar said coldly.

"Do you really want to save that human girl?" The frog creature stared at him with disdain.

In truth, the Rule Soul Avatar had no intentions of saving anyone at all

"Hey! This young man is mine!" someone shouted.

Suddenly, the whole valley became restless when a gigantic frog creature that reached over ahundred feet in height landed in front of the Rule Soul Avatar.

The Rule Soul Avatar couldn't stop his eyebrows from moving up slightly at the frog creature'sentrance. He could already tell that this frog creature was very powerful.

Without looking back, he flew away.

He immediately made his quick escape.

This reaction caught the frog creatures off guard. They had always found humans extremely stupidfor willingly sacrificing their lives to save other human beings.

But this young man was different from the others. He had run away instead.

"Chase him!"

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

Upon the powerful frog creature's orders, the rest ran after the Rule Soul Avatar. It seemed like thatfrog creature was their king.
