Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 1253 Unable To Get Out
All of a sudden, something blocked the attacks by Shura Avery and the blood-red figure.
Gradually, a transparent pyramid-shaped object appeared, enveloped the Blood Witcher Ancestor, and shielded him from their attacks.
A loud bang reverberated, and the air rippled in all directions with such intensity that several fiendgods, who were far from the battlefield, were crushed.
Even their souls were destroyed!
"This is not good.”
Despite being safe from their attacks, a sense of foreboding surged within the Blood WitcherAncestor. The power was too strong, and he worried that it would shatter Darren's weak soul.
He continued to chant in an ancient language. Soon, a transparent mini pyramid formed aroundDarren's broken soul and enveloped him.
"Go!"
Realizing that their attacks had failed to injure Darren, the blood-red figure and Avery launchedattacks even more furiously. Numerous blows continually rained on the transparent pyramid.
A murky sky over dark earth made it seem as though the end of the world had arrived. Several boltsof lightning descended, and space cracks spread in the void. The terrible scene quietened all thepowerful creatures in the distance. So terrified were they that they fell to their knees and trembled."My Lord, your humble Blood Witcher prays for you to protect this weak soul. I would like to offermy humble body in exchange for his safety. Please take me as your slave..."
When the Blood Witcher Ancestor felt as though his shield would collapse under the powerfulattacks, he closed his eyes and began to pray.
Scarlet runes flew into the void one after another.
Boom!
Two small bolts of crimson lightning descended from the sky's depths and struck the blood-redfigure and Avery.
"Ah!"
A painful roar pierced the sky, and the two figures fell like comets.
Their bodies indented the earth, and sand and stones flew in all directions.
The Blood Witcher Ancestor's eyes suddenly flew open, and he rushed into the void with Darren'ssoul as fast as he could.
Swoosh! Swoosh!
A moment later, two mangled figures bolted from the ground and chased the Blood WitcherAncestor.
However, millions of kilometers high in the sky, an endless net condensed from crimson lightningunfolded. The two figures seemed daunted by it.
They stopped a distance from it and glared at the net as though pensively. A while later, theygrowled and retreated.
On the other side, Darren sat up abruptly when he felt a chill course through him.
His pale face carried the fearful expression of a person who had just woken from a terriblenightmare.
"Ouch!"
Darren's mind went blank, and all his memories seemed to have disappeared.
"Are you all right?"
asked the Blood Witcher Ancestor, who sat beside. His withered face reflected deep concern.Darren stared at him blankly as he tried to figure out where he was and who this person was. After along while, his memory flooded into his mind.
"Sir..." Darren opened his mouth but stopped on second thought. The feeling of returning to life wasboth exhilarating and painful. However, he never wanted to experience it again.
Seeing that Darren was fine, the Blood Witcher Ancestor nodded his head slowly.
"I'm glad you're still alive. If your soul had died inside, the consequences would have beenunimaginable,” he said.
Darren took a deep breath to calm down
"Sir, what were these two creatures that attacked me? And what would happen if I died inside?"The Blood Witcher Ancestor didn't answer immediately. His green eyes flickered as though herecalled something buried deep in his memories.
"The one in the red armor was transformed by the blood essence of Supreme God Sheffield whilethe other was the remnant soul of a deputy god of the Shura race,” the Blood Witcher Ancestorexplained a moment later.
Darren gasped in astonishment.
He had not expected the two figures that attacked him to have been transformed by the PrimitiveWilderness's top-level figures.
"Their existence is a violation of the rules of heaven and earth. Therefore, their souls and bloodlinesare not complete. They need to collect others’ souls to prevent themselves from vanishing until theytransform into complete creatures. They picked you as their target because you're a Defiant Master, the best tonic for them. Once they get enough souls from Defiant Masters, they will grow so strongthat it will be impossible for me to suppress them even with the power of the Witcher God.
And if either of them made it, the human race would be the first to suffer. They harvest souls ofhumans as well, not just Defiant Masters. As long as they collect sufficient souls of either kind, theywill complete the transformation,” he clarified.
Darren now understood why he could not die in the tomb.
A bitter smile cracked Darren's lips. "Do you know how I came to be in that tomb, sir?" he asked. The Blood Witcher Ancestor nodded slowly. He had learned about the incident from the messagessent by the witchers, who had lost their lives.
"Lord Starry Sword is both righteous and evil. Sometimes his actions bewilder me. I can't figure outhis motive. I know that he took you to the tomb, but I don't know why,” the Blood Witcher Ancestorreplied.
"I guess he didn't want to accept me as his disciple. Sending me to the tomb pretty muchguaranteed that I would not return to accept the offer he made to me in the mortal world.” Darrenhad concluded this well before the figure in the red armor had attacked him. Lord Starry Sword'sulterior motive seemed clear considering the events that had transpired.
"Perhaps." The Blood Witcher Ancestor frowned before adding, "I'll report this incident to theAncestral Land. I don't care what he planned, but he almost made a huge mistake. He should bepunished.”
"Sir, what will happen to him once the Ancestral Land learns about all this? After all, he is the headof a region, and one of the strongest members of the human race,” Darren questioned.
"Being powerful isn't a license to disobey the rules, not unless he is a supreme god," the BloodWitcher Ancestor narrowed his eyes as he muttered.
Darren was unfamiliar with the human race's structure in the Primitive Wilderness, so he didn't askmore.
"Anyway, thank you for your help this time, sir. If there is a chance, I will definitely repay you forsaving my life." As he spoke, Darren stood and bowed to the Blood Witcher Ancestor.
The Blood Witcher Ancestor shook his head and said with a faint smile, "The only repayment I needis for you to protect the human race one day. As a Defiant Master, you have to go through morehardships than anyone else. I hope you make it to the end.”
Several complicated feelings surged in Darren's heart at this sentiment.
"Alas," Darren sighed. "Ever since my identity as a Defiant Master was revealed, I feel like the humanrace has abandoned me. I don't know what to think when I hear that the human race's futuredepends on a Defiant Master. This is all too contradictory.”
Darren was confused now. He felt so burdened by his worries that he didn’t have the strength tocontinue standing.
"There are too many rules in this world. Just because you are needed does not mean that everyonewill tolerate your existence. The only thing that you have to remember is that the rules don't existwhen your strength terrifies the chief gods.”
"Uh..." Darren didn't fully understand what he meant, but he couldn't stop thinking about the partwhere the Blood Witcher Ancestor said that no one could restrict him when he was strong enough."Sir, would you please help me leave this place?”
Darren stood and walked around. At one glance, he could see that the dark space was full of chaoticaura.
"Sorry, son. I can't do that.”
The Blood Witcher Ancestor shook his head, and his tone reflected the helplessness he felt.
"What do you mean?" Surprised with the reply, Darren stopped pacing and turned to face the BloodWitcher Ancestor.
"This tomb is my permanent prison. I am destined to live in this tomb forever. The moment I leave, the laws suppressing the supreme god's tomb will collapse, and the world will be engulfed bychaos. That is why I can't take you anywhere else except the tomb," he explained.
"What?!" Darren's heart sank. "So, I will never be able to leave?”
"Theoretically, yes, you understood correctly," the Blood Witcher Ancestor replied with a nod. "But,you can cultivate here. When you are stronger, you can try to break free from the weakest point ofthis tomb. That will be your only chance.”
"That is not possible. I'm not a rule cultivator, and I exist in this tomb as a soul. My strength won'timprove here, no matter how hard I work.” Desperation overwhelmed Darren, and he lost all hope.
