Chapter 1287 Blue Flower Demon
Murphy flew towards the Ninth Precipitous Mountain as fast as he could.
He had been agitated and angry ever since his daughter was taken. Darren knew that Murphy wasdesperate to replace her.
Darren chased after Murphy, feeling helpless. The Gambling King had deliberately taken Murphy'sdaughter with the expectation that Murphy would come after her. Darren feared that Murphy washeading straight into a trap.
But how could any father do anything else in this kind of situation? So Darren flew after Murphy, who was traveling at his fastest speed.
They finally reached the territory of the Ninth Precipitous Mountain.
Even though Darren was thousands of kilometers high, flying through the sky, he could feel thethick fog and miasma rising from the earth beneath him.
He sensed that Murphy had stopped moving.
Darren immediately descended, landing on the ground beside Murphy.
"Master Murphy, we must be careful. They are hoping you will be reckless and impulsive,”
Darren said, trying to reason with Murphy.
Murphy scowled. "Of course I know that. But I don't have a choice. I will fight to get my daughter tosafety, regardless of what happens to me," he snapped.
"I understand," Darren replied. "But perhaps there's a way to save her without sacrificing yourself. Ifwe go secretly, maybe we can replace some clues as to where Miss Freda is being kept. Marchingopenly into enemy territory will only allow them to make preparations in advance and hide MissFreda in a more secret place.
I believe they only took her to get to you, so it's unlikely they'll do anything to her while they'rewaiting for you to arrive," he added.
It was a fair analysis, and one that Murphy agreed with, so he calmed down slightly. Instead ofrushing forward alone, he decided to travel more carefully with Darren.
"Fine. Come with me, then,” he said.
The two men ventured further into the Ninth Precipitous Mountain
The land was densely covered with a purple jungle, full of a variety of strange, poisonous flowers."Master Murphy, do you know where the Gambling King is?" Darren asked.
"I do. But we have to move carefully, for this forest is full of many hidden dangers.”
Darren nodded, gazing warily around him at the purple foliage.
They were still hundreds of kilometers away from the place where the Gambling King lived. In orderto avoid detection, Darren and Murphy decided to travel by land.
The two men ran swiftly and silently through the forest.
Suddenly, there was a snapping sound.
A vine had lashed out and wrapped itself around Murphy's waist.
He was yanked back by the vine, and hundreds more vines began creeping around his body, wrapping themselves around him.
"Master Murphy!" called Darren.
He immediately leapt towards Murphy and began slashing at the vines with his sword.
He only managed to hack off a few vines.
"These are tough,” he muttered, amazed at how the vines had resisted his blade.
"Break them!" Murphy shouted. He released powerful sword intent, which slashed through the vineswrapped around him.
"Hurry up, let's get out of here!" he shouted.
Murphy jumped from the tangle of cut vines and started to fly away.
Darren flew after him.
But more thick vines reached up with startling speed, closing around Darren's body.
He struggled, but was unable to escape.
In the span of a few seconds, Darren was completely covered with vines. He felt as though he wassuffocating.
Even more uncomfortable than the tight, suffocating sensation was the stinging mucus that clung tohis skin. The vine secreted a poisonous substance, although instead of pain, it caused an unbearableitchiness in its victims.
Darren, unable to move, felt a strong itch that grew worse and worse. It felt terrible, as though theitchiness was tearing through his whole body.
"Damn it!" he said, his voice muffled against the vines.
He was going crazy with the intensity of the itch, and immediately he released a burst of energy. Allkinds of god's power burst out from Darren's twitching form.
Several vines dropped to the ground, but more and more vines snaked around Darren, keeping himtrapped and helpless.
Seeing Darren's predicament, Murphy turned back, but he had no time to do anything before thethick vines wrapped around him as well.
Murphy's sword intent was powerful, and he managed several times to cut through the vinesbinding him. But it was hard to resist the endless vines. The nonstop attacks began to drainMurphy's strength, and the itchiness in his skin grew more severe.
After struggling fiercely for around a quarter of an hour, Murphy, like Darren, stopped moving. Heno longer had enough strength to break free from the vines.
The two of them were trapped.
To their surprise, they heard the sound of a loud, hoarse laugh through the vines that cocoonedthem.
They fought to free their faces so they could see what was happening.
A huge blue flower was suspended in midair in front of Darren and Murphy.
"Are you a demon?” Darren asked.
"Correct. I've been hungry for a very long time,” the voice answered. "Ah, you have reached theCelestial God Realm. How delicious!"
The same mucus that was excreted by the vines was oozing out of the stamens of the giant flower. It served much the same purpose that saliva did in human beings.
At this point, Darren and Murphy had been weakened by the extreme discomfort of the itchinessand suffocation caused by the vines. They had no energy to fight back.
"Just kill me,” Murphy groaned.
His eyes were streaked with blood and his whole body was tormented by the itch he couldn'tscratch. He felt a madness descend on him that sapped his will to live.
"Nobody has ever been able to bear my poison. I'm sure you'd prefer to die right now. But I'mafraid I can't grant your wish! Or at least not right away. I'll keep you alive for the next few days so Ihave time to enjoy your flesh and blood. Don't worry, death will come eventually.”
The Blue Flower Demon sounded like he was enjoying himself. The demon delighted in torturinghumans.
Murphy groaned again. He would have killed himself in that moment if he could.
Darren, on the other hand, was still struggling. Although he was in just as much agony as Murphy,he had no desire to give up without a fight.
The Blue Flower Demon noticed Darren twisting against the vines. "Wow, this guy has a hightolerance for torture,” he said lightly, impressed by Darren's endurance.
"My Lord, please let us go,” Darren said. Although he didn't want to die, he was in enough pain tobeg for mercy.
"What did you just call me?" the Blue Flower Demon asked with surprise.
"Did you call me Lord?
That sounds very pleasant, very pleasant indeed,” said the Blue Flower Demon. "How interesting. Nohuman has ever addressed me that way before." The Blue Flower Demon rather liked being called"My Lord."
"My Lord, as long as you spare us, we are willing to be your servants,” Darren gasped out, hopingthat the demon would be susceptible to such an idea.
Of course, Darren had no intention of actually being a servant of the Blue Flower Demon.
He was secretly gathering the black god's power and the penetrating sword intent.
Both attacks had a strong penetrating effect. Once it exploded, he knew he would be able to breakfree from the vines wrapped around him
Although there was great variety among the powers and preferences of evil spirits, they all had onething in common—their bodies were relatively weak.
Darren believed that once he had broken through the shackles, he had a good chance of killing theBlue Flower Demon.
He hoped that his begging and appearance of weakness would convince the demon to lower hisguard.
"Look at yourself. What an ugly human, groveling without shame just to survive,” the Blue FlowerDemon said disdainfully.
"I admit that I am ugly, but I'm not stupid. I'm smart enough to recognize when another has greaterstrength and power. Even a Superior God Realm master couldn't resist your poison, let alone me,”Darren replied.
"You are wise to recognize that," said the Blue Flower Demon. The demon was pleased to be praisedin this way, especially by a human being.
"My Lord, please let me go! I swear that I will be loyal to you forever,” Darren begged again.
He was tense, feeling adrenaline rush through his body. He had gathered all his strength, and waswaiting for the best moment to strike. He felt like his meridians were about to explode,
The Blue Flower Demon laughed again. "Don't waste your breath! There's no way I'll let you go.However, you flatter me with your sweet talk, so I'll give you the gift of a quick death. I'll eat younow instead of torturing you for days.”
With that, the demon ejected a blast of mucus, and a red slit opened in the middle of the flowerstamens. Two rows of sharp teeth were revealed.
