Chapter 1338 Darren Agreed To Gatlin's Idea

Darren stepped forward and helped Gatlin up from his kneeling stance on the ground.

"Please don't!" Darren sighed and said, "Gatlin, you are truly a kind and righteous man. I have toadmit I was upset before, because I never really knew the Chu Clan members in the PrimitiveWilderness. I don't feel like I truly belong to the Chu Clan."

"Patriarch Darren, it's not your fault. It's on me. I was too excited to see you." Gatlin choked backtears as he continued to say, "The former patriarch treated me like his own son. When he was killedby the attack of the flaming fiend race, I felt like everything I ever knew in life crumbled right beforemy eyes. From then on, I secretly swore that I would avenge him, and that I would get revenge foreveryone whose blood was spilled. I only later realized that I'm only an ordinary human, and I couldnever achieve revenge like that.

Despite this, I've brought that grudge around with me every day. This hatred has been buried deepin my heart. I always dreamed of a descendant of the Chu Clan who stepped out from the darknessand the void, fighting tooth and nail for our clan. I truly pray that you are that person.”

"Gatlin," Darren couldn't help but call out. His heart wrenched as he watched this Celestial GodRealm master choke back his sobs, speaking heartfelt words.

"I'll do my best. Once I get out of this region and take Elsa back, I'll head straight for the ChaoticRegion without any delay,” Darren promised as he patted Gatlin on the shoulder.

"You're too kind, Patriarch Darren. I'd be more than willing to follow you and support you by anymeans necessary.” Gatlin was about to kneel again, and Darren quickly hoisted him up.

"Please, there's no need to do that again. You deserve my wholehearted respect,” exclaimed Darren. All sorts of feelings began to well up in his mind.

"Yes, sir. But... Okay, I understood,” replied Gatlin with a nod.

"Well, the most urgent problem I've got now is how to replace a way out of this region,” said Darren."Patriarch, don't worry, it's not that hard. I got enough points for you to leave this place. As for me,as a middle-level Celestial God Realm cultivator, I can leave as long as I resign my current positionas the head of the branch,” replied Gatlin in a serious tone.

"How many points have you gotten?" asked Darren curiously.

"One billion and one hundred million in total.”

"Hmm. It doesn't seem like that many. I think some clans got more points than you," said Darren."Yes, there really isn't a lot of them. Since I had nowhere to use these points, I wasn't very aggressiveabout collecting them. They were just given to me by the branch every year,” explained Gatlin."Well, if that's the case, together with my more than nine hundred million points, it's enough for twopeople to leave. Alas, there are three of us. It would be better if we could all leave together," saidDarren with a heavy sigh.

"Gatlin, as the chief of a branch, do you have the privilege to just let someone leave?" Darren askedvery expectantly.

Gatlin quickly shook his head in reply. "Sadly, I don't. As a matter of fact, the chief of a branch justdoes chores here in the Tussle Region. I don't have any power here,” he added.

"It seems that I have to participate in the finals of the Tussle Contest. It's the only way," said Darren, scratching his head in frustration.

He planned to use the points to get Lindsay and Finley out. Later, he would have to participate inthe Tussle Contest. Anyway, all he needed was get to the top three.

"I wouldn't exactly recommend that. The Tussle Contest will bring together the best of the best fromaround the world. There will always be some extraordinary talents. You may not be able to make itto the top three. The area under my jurisdiction is not that big, but there are many clans here thatgained quite a big amount of points. I'll go and take their points, even if I have to use force. Isuppose it won't be that big a problem for me.”

Gatlin was popular in the area of his jurisdiction. After all, he was a powerful master at the middle-level of the Celestial God Realm. Also considering his position as the branch's chief, most big clanshad to show respect for him.

"Well, that does sound like a better idea.” Darren nodded in approval.

"Okay, I'll get right to it. I anticipate I'll be done in three days. Patriarch Darren, you and your friendscan rest here for a few days. Wait for my news.” Gatlin then cupped his hands in respect.

"Okay."

After catching up for a few more minutes, Darren and Gatlin exited the secret chamber together.

In the hall outside, Harold, Gatlin's son, was receiving Lindsay, Finley and Weber for tea.

"Help yourself, please,”

offered Harold politely.

As soon as Darren walked out of the secret chamber, Harold immediately moved forward and kneltdown. "Sir..."

Before he could finish his words, Darren interrupted and said, "Harold, there's no need to be soformal with me. Just call me Darren. You can save the honorifics for a later time.”

"I really don't..." Panic, Harold cast a glance at his father. He had learned how important Darren wasfrom his father earlier. How could he possibly deserve to be so casual with him?

"It's up to the... It's up to Darren,” Gatlin cut in. Although he knew that Darren was not a verynitpicky person, he was still worried about possibly offending the man.

"I see, yeah. It's a pleasure to meet you, Darren."

Darren nodded with a smile in reply.

"Harold, how old are you this year?" asked Darren.

"I'm eight hundred and forty," answered Harold.

"What?"

Both Weber and Lindsay had their mouths agape in shock.

In the Primitive Wilderness, people were mentally mature at the age of three hundred, but theirbone age was only equivalent to someone who was just a few years old in the mortal worlds."What a genius! You've only been cultivating for such a short time, but you already reached themiddle-level of the Star God Realm!" Lindsay exclaimed in awe.

"I'm flattered.” Harold was ecstatic at the compliment, but he didn't let his expression give it awayand tried to look modest on the surface.

"You're brilliant!" Darren nodded.

"No, you're the one who deserves to be called brilliant. You killed a beast of the Celestial God Realmin the hunting ground. That was awesome! I was on the edge of my seat about it when I heard thestory!"

Harold beamed at Darren with admiration.

Darren was only at the low-level of the Star God Realm, but he successfully killed a Celestial GodRealm beast. Harold had never heard of such a thing before.

It was as difficult as a mere mortal trying to shoot for the stars

"I got lucky back there.” The fact that he could have killed the beast was largely because of theBeast-subduing Tripod. Darren had to admit it.

"Ha-ha, you are much too modest. Come, have some tea please." Harold poured tea for everyoneand then they started chatting

Meanwhile, in the Blood Cloud Region, two identical figures were standing face to face in the desert."It's you. What brings you back here?" It was Merle, the second avatar of Darren, facing the RuleSoul Avatar.

The Rule Soul Avatar made no reply.

"We came here to replace Elsa for Darren,” answered Jenifer from the side.

"Humph! Didn't you say that you wouldn't be under the real body's control?" Merle sneered.

"Yes, I did. But it doesn't mean that I won't complete the task he gave me,” said the Rule Soul Avatarblankly.

"It's all the same.” Then Merle turned around, the sand forming clouds around his feet. He gazedinto the distance and said, "I need your help.”

"What is it?" the Rule Soul Avatar asked, still bearing no emotion.

"Help me get into the fiend race. I need to merge with them to get stronger,” replied Merle.

Due to the restriction of the natural laws, he was unable to merge with dead humans and thus, hechanged his sights toward the fiend race.

"I refuse.” The Rule Soul Avatar vetoed it.

"What? Why?" Merle's tone suddenly turned to rage and he roared, "You're just afraid that I'llsurpass you and become stronger than you!"

"Merle, you're being immature.”

"Cut the crap. Admit it! You're afraid that I'll beat you. That's it! That's why you won't help me!"

The Rule Soul Avatar's eyes suddenly shone with a terrifying silvery light as tens of thousands oflaws were ready to be triggered.

"What? Now you want to kill me?" shouted Merle.

"Maybe you should have never existed in this world,” the Rule Soul Avatar said coldly. "I supposethat you've inherited the most ferocious part of the real body's soul, so it seems fit that you aredestroyed.”

He came to this conclusion with swift and ruthless judgment.
