Chapter 1484 Choosing Sides

"At least we now have a smaller search range,” Todd said.

Since they hadn't even known what the center of the array was before, it was a relief they now had adirection and goal to follow.

"Let's go look for it," Darren said.

They flew together, carefully hiding their auras to avoid an attack from the metal creatures.

As they flew, they detected many metal creatures along the way, which were too ordinary to be thecenter of the array.

"Todd, it looks as if your friend Juan is ahead of us,” Murray suddenly said.

"What? You're right, it's him. It appears he's in some sort of trouble.”

They could detect Juan's aura from deep within the valley three thousand kilometers away.

"I'll go take a look. Wait a moment." Todd wanted to go alone, fearing that Darren and the restwould be implicated if things were truly bad.

After all, Juan was one of the Five Kings and Darren's rival at that.

"What are you saying? How could I as a friend let you go there on your own?" Murray rolled hiseyes at him

"Sir, we'll go with you," Darren echoed.

"Well, if we replace it to be too dangerous, you need to escape first. Never mind me,” Todd concededWith that,

they all headed to the valley together.

Three powerful auras met them from within the valley covered in purple mist.

"Juan, you won't be escaping today!"

"East King, are you truly going to help Seth kill me?" Juan's roar sounded.

"What did you think? Of course I am. Chances like this don't come often. Did you think I wouldn'ttake advantage of it?" the East King sneered.

"East King, you know how cunning Seth is. You'd do best to unite with me, in order to kill him."Seth's heart raced in fear. What if the East King agreed? It would mean to put him on the spotinstead.

"East King, Juan has two masters under his command. Letting him go would cause nothing buttrouble for us. Think it over, carefully. He has been adamantly resisting war. Don't you think there issomething suspicious about that? It's obvious he's been secretly recruiting powerful warriors to killus!

If we let him escape this time, we will never know peace,” Seth said quickly.

"Seth, there's no need to persuade me. I will help you kill Juan."

"East King, you think Seth is better than me? How could you feel no shame for siding with the likesof him?" Juan growled angrily.

"On the contrary, you are much stronger than Seth. That is precisely why I have to kill you.”

It made sense, of course, that the two weaker forces would unite to kill the strongest one. That wasthe East King's sole reason for aiding Seth.

"You have made up your mind then. But I'm warning you two bastards, I'm no weakling. So don'tcount this as a victory just yet,” Juan yelled.

"How quaint. It's two against one. The odds are in our favor. You don't seem to understand yoursituation,” the East King said icily.

The man had a point. Both the East King and Seth were masters at his level. Attacking him togetherwould diminish Juan's chances.

From their hiding spot in midair, Darren and the rest had heard every word.

"You plan to gang up on him?" Todd flew down, landing beside Juan.

"You!"

The sight of Todd struck both the East King and Seth.

With Todd in the picture, killing Juan would be impossible.

His sudden appearance ruined everything.

"Naturally not, Todd. It was a mere jest with Juan. Don't take it too seriously,” the East King said witha smile.

While the East King didn’t fear Todd or Juan, with Todd in the way there was no more reason tofight. Extricating himself from the situation would help him out.

Besides, he couldn't be the only one thinking that. They were both on leveled ground with nochance of defeating the other.

"Jest?" Todd said in a bitter voice. "Then how about I join in on the fun with a jest of my own?Neither of you will leave with his head intact.”

"Todd, how dare you!" the East King shouted indignantly. Even if the man was powerful, did he trulythink himself capable just by siding with Juan? The impudence!

"Todd, you bastard, you killed my sworn brother. I swear you will pay for that!" Hatred blindedSeth's eyes. He had no intention of giving in.

"You're still intent on killing Todd then, Seth? I'm afraid I won't get myself involved in your quest forrevenge. That's your own business.” The East King was cunning, attempting to slyly switch sides."You despicable man! Have you turned into a coward now?" Seth clenched his jaw seeing the EastKing cowering at the sight of Todd. The man was shameless.

"Seth, if you continue to disparage me, I'll have to kill you." The East King's killing intent surged,now wanting to join forces with Juan and Todd to kill Seth.

"What?" Fear finally registered with Seth. With even the East King going against him, his deathwould be imminent.

"Ignore what I just said. It was the heat of the moment. We should retreat now. Let's get out ofhere.” Seth's back was covered in cold sweat as he tried to replace a way to escape.

"You think you can just leave as you like?" Todd stared at Seth coldly.

"Forget it, Todd. We won't gain anything from fighting against them. It will all be in vain," Juanpointed out.

"Not necessarily." With that, Todd raised his head to the sky and shouted, "Murray, please help me."As soon as the words were out, a lean, handsome figure dropped beside them.

It was Murray.

Seeing this handsome young man in black armor with a long spear in his hand, had the East Kingand Seth frowning deeply.

"I should have expected this," the East King murmured to himself.

The scales were no longer balanced and tipped on the other side's end. It was three versus two."Juan, will you really attack me? I haven't been myself these days and got caught up in Seth's words,then said something I shouldn't have. Will you forgive me? I agree with you that Seth is a bastard.How about we join forces and end him together?"

It was apparent the East King had no loyalties and quickly switched sides to whichever gave him thebiggest advantage.

With three masters on Juan's side, there was no telling if he could make it out alive. His defeat,however, was inevitable.

"Juan, just think. Four versus one, we'll end Seth in no time. There's no reason to miss out on thischance.”

The East King was right. With these odds, Seth was as good as dead. With three versus two, bothSeth and the East King could run.

Juan kept silent and then addressed Todd quietly, "What do you think?"

After some thought, Todd replied, "Joining with the East King would give us a sure win. Let's agreeto an alliance, and once Seth is dead, it will be easier to kill the East King."

"That's a good idea. Let's do it!"

Juan addressed the East King, "I don't hate you and understand that Seth has deceived you. Whenyou kill him, you can claim his power."

"How could you!"

Seth, who had heard the entire thing, seethed with anger.
