Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 507 The Rescue (Part One)
With his aura concealed and his entire being close to non-existent, Darren immediately launched aquick search of the area using his Spirit Power. Soon enough, he discovered some movements notfar from where they are hiding. Following through the aura as to where the movements originated, the young warrior immediately sensed that the approaching figures were not that friendly.
"Is that what I think it is? I can't believe that I actually run into some mutants like these here!”
At the sight of the two black mutants in patrol, Darren was a little bit surprised and couldn't helphimself from cursing.
These black mutants were precisely the same kind of the mutant that Bruce had transformed into. The fact made him wonder whether they were of close kinship or not.
What Darren hadn't figured out yet was whether this kind of mutant was descendant of the fiend ora more bizarre species. He remembered how frightened Bruce was when he first saw Darren in thedemonic transformation form. So, he reckoned that these black mutants were naturally andinstinctively scared of Darren when he had transformed himself.
“Perhaps, these mutants may have everything to do with the fiend sealed in the forbidden area, andit is also possible that they are the descendants of the human experiment subject." Making more in-depth scrutiny of the mutants, Darren thought to himself in speculation
While he was doing that, he stayed hidden on the side with no absolute intention to launch anattack on them. Darren's primary purpose was surveillance, instead of alerting the enemies by killinga couple of low-level black-scaled mutants.
After all, Darren was only at the prototype stage of his Air-integrated True Rule. Thus he could onlykeep his cover for a short period. That would also mean that he still could not use such abilityunrestricted. Yet, lucky for him, Darren did not have to apply such an advanced set of skills on thetwo black mutants as their Spirit Powers were not strong enough to detect him.
After the patrol of these black mutants passed, Darren kept searching while making his way to thecity center, where many tall buildings stood. The city center was the core area that was tightlycontrolled by the Shaoyan Clan.
It was evident that the presence of the black mutants was much more prevalent on these portionsof the land rather than the rural area that Darren had passed a moment ago. Worst was, many ofthe black mutants present around were with the strengths equivalent to that of a three-star grandwarrior.
Needless to say, that was only an educated guess on Darren's side, and they might turn out to bemuch more potent in actual combat, which was something that Darren must take seriously. So hedared not make a move yet and decided to observe further to collect more information. As he hadlearned from Bruce's demonic transformation skill, one's power could increase significantly aftersuch transformation. Thus, he was right to assume that the strength of the black mutants duringcombat would be much higher.
'Such a strong aura! I must be more careful, *
the young warrior thought to himself as he felt a dominating force the moment he approached thecenter hall. The aura of power that was seeping out from the source of the unusual strength madehim scared a little bit, sending chills down his spine.
Threatened by the superior aura, Darren activated his prototype level of Air-integrated True Rulewithout much hesitation. He transformed himself into a gentle breeze that blended in perfectly withthe thin air that no one would notice of.
After easing his way to the center hall, unfelt and unnoticed, Darren immediately turned hisattention to the one sitting at the pedestaled throne. He wished to replace out who was behind all thisand who was responsible for the reckless actions made by the border mutants. As Darren had aclear view of the mastermind, it turned out to be a mutant bathed in purple with perfect andmasculine body shape, and the mutant was so purple that even his pupils were violet.
With the coming and going of minions across the hall, Darren was confident that he was the onewho was giving out the orders. Moreover, the strong aura of power that Darren had detected earlyon was oozing from the purple mutant.
'He is at least at the level of a five-star grand warrior. It is a good decision that I take thisreconnaissance tour; otherwise, we would have been butchered mercilessly should we have attackedwithout testing the waters, ' fear, worry, doubt, and half-heartedness mixed inside Darren as hethought to himself. On the one hand, he felt grateful that they did not make a rushed decision andwalked right into this place to face such a powerful opponent. Yet, on the other hand, he was alsoworried about what the next stage of their plan would be, especially now that he discovered theirenemies had turned out to be way stronger than they had anticipated.
Worried and stunned as he was, Darren was immersed in his thoughts as to what would be thebetter plan to handle the situation. To his surprise, a purple light shot out of the menacing eyes ofthe purple mutant. The sharp line of sight came straight towards the direction where Darren waslurking around. Shocked at the terror brought to him by the evil eyes, Darren could not help but feelsweats streaming down his face despite his perfect disguise as invisible as the air.
“Does that mean that I have been spotted?" as he asked himself, Darren was a little bit shocked andafraid at the same time.
Even though he couldn't help himself from rattling, Darren still managed to remain calm andcomposed as he sensed that although this purple mutant was indeed very powerful, his Spirit Powerwas way below level thirty. That meant he couldn't detect or even sense Darren at the very least. The young warrior just waited for a few moments while holding his breath and not moving a musclein fear of being caught. Fortunately, Darren was right with his judgment. He felt relieved when thepurple mutant shifted his gaze and addressed his servants, saying, "Another group of humans hasarrived, and they are hiding in the south side. Hold on a second... I have been informed that one ofthem is quite powerful, the one with a spear. I don't want any of you to touch him. I will handle himmyself and make sure of his death, and then you guys can take care of the rest.”
"Of course, master! Everything will be done as you please. But, would you mind telling me who theyare? Or perhaps, who sent them?" a four-star black mutant, who sat next to the purple mutant, asked with uneasiness in his voice.
"I don't care who they are, what they are, or whoever sent them! What would it matter as we will killwhoever that come to our turf? You do not need to know that much!" growled the purple mutant."Yes, master! Certainly, master!" the black mutant replied while bowing as low as he could to showhis apologies to the purple mutant.
On the far corner, while eavesdropping to their conversation, Darren was deeply disturbed by theirshort argument.
Aside from that, another realization bothered Darren. That was, if this purple mutant was able todetect the presence of other human beings, then he must have found out about the infiltration ofDarren's group. But he could not wrap his head around why such a powerful purple mutant chose tostay inside the central city, safe and hidden, instead of coming over and wiping all the intruders out.
