Talented Martial Hero
Chapter 595 No Mercy

Hitch, the one-star grand warrior, was quick to believe that his opponent was nothing special

He was just as surprised as he was irritated, then, when he realized that none of his killing blowswere coming near Darren.

"You killed the young master! For that, I'll kill you right now!"

As Hitch roared this, he activated his domain skill, and the black iron spear thrust like a phantomtoward Darren.

Darren put on a show as he resisted this power, pretending that it was close to overwhelming hisstrength. At the last moment, though, he "unintentionally" swung his arm out, landing a heavypunch on Hitch's face.

Even as the warrior fell to the ground, Darren pummeled him with several kicks, sending him rollingback several meters.

Hitch came to a stop, favoring his bruises and glaring up at Darren with wide, furious eyes. As hesaw it, he owed his new injuries to his own carelessness, not to any superiority on Darren's part. With his pride thus intact, he barked, "Who are you, boy?!"

"I came from the Chen Village," Darren answered coolly. He wasn't about to share his name with thisblowhard.

"Ha! So you have guts enough to tell me where you're from,” Hitch gloated. "You'll regret that whenthe Black Dragon Fortress comes to destroy your whole village!"

Darren raised an eyebrow. "First you'll have to get back to your buddies alive to tell them about it,"he pointed out.

"Humph! You think you can kill me just because you thrashed me just now? Try and catch me!" Hitchsnarled. With that, he produced an Escape Rune from his pocket and activated it with his bloodessence

The coward was gone in the blink of an eye, but Darren knew that that inferior rune could only takehim a kilometer or two away. Not only that, but he would still be easy to track down with spiritualsense.

In any case, though, Darren had no intention of chasing him down. Letting him spread the word tothe Black Dragon Fortress would only hasten their ultimate defeat.

Seeing that Darren had won, Ella breathed a sigh of relief.

The next moment, Darren went over and removed the seal from her body with his spiritual sense."Thanks for your help, sir."

Saying this, she bowed low to the ground with tears of gratitude in her eyes.

"No need to thank me,” Darren replied, turning toward Fergus. "It's just your own bad luck that youran into this scum. I'll kill him for you now, then.”

"Please don't, sir,"

Ella said, suddenly on her feet.

"Why?"

Darren frowned, staring at Ella in disbelief.

'Even after all the evil this man has done, she wants me to let him go?" he wondered. 'Is she really sosoft-hearted?'

He laughed in derision, shaking his head. "You actually want to forgive such a despicable man asthis? I really don't know what to say. Well, have it your way! Do whatever you want, because my partin this is through. See you.”

Saying this, Darren turned to go.

"Please don't leave, sir!" The anxiety in the woman's voice was palpable.

"What do you want now?" Darren demanded, looking back.

"Sir, you misunderstand,” Ella pleaded. "I'm not letting him go. I'm going to kill him myself. Pleasedon't be angry.”

Darren faced her again, offering a knowing look.

He didn't like people who let their enemies go when they had the chance to take revenge. He wasn'tpleased to see anyone fall prey to the consequences of such useless compassion.

So when Ella didn't let him kill Fergus, Darren was angry.

When he heard, then, that Ella was not going to let Fergus off the hook, Darren saw that his effortsthis time were not in vain.

"Fergus, you bastard!" Ella said coldly as she approached her tormentor. "You'll pay for everythingyou've done to hurt me."

Her furious words sent a jolt through Fergus, who threw himself to his knees.

"Ella!" he stammered. "Please don't kill me! This has all been a terrible mistake.”

When this got no response, he gestured piteously at Darren. "Sir, I am not really scum.

Please, both of you, let me explain!”

Darren only crossed his arms mutely. He wanted to see how Ella would handle this.

"You bloody scumbag,” the woman spat. "What do you have left to explain?”

Fergus brought his hands together pleadingly. "Oh, Ella, how could you be so cruel as to kill menow? I tried my best to save you, but it was all in vain. Woe, woe is me! You know what? When I sawthe lewd look in that villain's eyes when he eyed you, it pained me to the core. What I said and did,it was just to make them relax their guard. I simply wanted a good opportunity to attack,” Fergussaid seriously.

"Do you really expect me to believe that?" Ella still glared at him, but her voice was a little quieterthan before.

"Don't you know what kind of a person I am?" Fergus croaked. "Alas, it seems my good intentionsare in vain. After all that I did for you, you've made up your mind to kill me. Well, if I'm nothing butscum to you, what's the meaning of my life? I may as well be dead. Of course, you'll have to proveyou can go through with it. Prove you can kill the person who loves you the most!"

Having to listen to the man's entire pathetic rant made Darren feel sick.

He could sense the fluctuations within Fergus’ mind, and knew that this miscreant didn't mean aword he was saying.

Such silver-tongued lies were almost too much to put up with.

However, Darren checked his impulse to intervene. He still wanted to see if the woman was about tolet herself be fooled.

Meanwhile, Ella had wiped her face clean of emotion. "Well, if you're so ready to die now, why am Ito disappoint you?"

When she had said this, she lashed out with one hand faster than the eye could see, and struckFergus with a fatal chop to the heart.

Straightaway, the man collapsed to the ground like a ragdoll. Shock swept over him. Up to the lastinstant, he still had believed his sweet words would win her over. As his life drained away, hestruggled to speak. "Ella... Don't you believe in me? Why did you kill me?”

Ella looked down at him, smiling bitterly. "I'm not as innocent as I used to be. Or as stupid.”

Fergus’ eyes glazed over as they stared into hers.

Having nothing else to say, Ella struck again.

Her second blow smashed Fergus’ skull to pieces.

With a sigh, the woman stepped away from the mess. Despite what she had done, she felt nosatisfaction inside.

Instead, there was only emptiness, which confused her. After all she had suffered in so short a time, she had hoped killing Fergus would do more for her.

"Try not to dwell on this,” Darren put in. "You did the right thing.”

Ella looked like she wanted to cry, but could not. "He and I grew up together, in the same village. And he was my fiance...”

"You can do what you want,” Darren said. It was clear that Ella would need to make her owndecision to move on. "But I need to remind you that the Black Dragon Fortress will be coming soonAre you sure you don't want to take me to your village?" Darren said

Ella's dull expression began to thaw as she remembered that the captain of the Black DragonFortress had escaped. He might already have assembled his army.

There were many masters among them, and she doubted that the members of her own villagecould resist their attack. Otherwise, she wouldn't have begged for mercy earlier.

Turning to Darren, she said, "Sir, you must run from here. Get as far away as you can. I'll go back tothe village, explain the situation, and tell everyone to hide. As for my having just killed Fergus... Well, let his father do whatever he wants."

Darren shook his head, saying, "If members of the Black Dragon Fortress are looking for you, it's nogood trying to hide. I need to just kill them all together. It's my duty to protect your village, nomatter what. You need to take me to your village now."

"No, sir," she insisted, though she was impressed at Darren's bravery. "You've already saved me froma terrible fate. There's no need for you to risk yourself any further. There are three-star grandwarriors in the Black Dragon Fortress, and they're strong as gods. If you faced them, you'd bethrowing your life away for nothing.”

Darren smirked at her. "Ha! Do you really think I am so weak? I tell you, no one can come within tenthousand kilometers, let alone kill me. Now, let's get going."

Having said this, he had a look around with his spiritual sense and spotted only one village withinfifteen kilometers. Knowing it had to be the Chen Village, he flew off toward it.

He left so fast that Ella, wrapped up in her anxieties, was caught off-guard.

She was just about to follow Darren when she noticed a member of the Black Dragon Fortressnearby. He was hiding and not a little afraid, so she thought she would kill him quickly.

As Ella drew near, however, something she couldn't see sliced the man's body to pieces, which inturn dissipated like dust.

Looking around, she was alarmed to sense a powerful aura of sword intent close by. "What apowerful aura of sword intent!" she exclaimed.
