Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 598 The Impeccant City
Ella was a little hesitant.
She knew that Darren was very powerful but at the same time, she could not overlook the fact thatthose who killed the villagers were some of the most evil villains in history. There were talks of howeven a five-star grand warrior cowered in their presence and struggled to escape from them for aslong as he could.
She felt that Darren's power was no match for the enemy's strength and cruelty.
Suddenly, a buzzing sound drew her back to reality.
The sound of clashing metal rang around her.
Ella soon realized that the buzzing sound was coming from none other than Darren, who realizedshe doubted his strength. Because of this, Darren decided to manifest his strength to prove to herjust how strong he really was.
Darren's aura continually grew stronger and as his power emanated outward, his blade and swordintents also grew in their power and all creatures within a thousand kilometers began to tremblewith fear.
Although Ella was under Darren's protection, she could still feel the power of his blade and swordintents as they radiated throughout the air.
It was, to her, indescribable as she could not think of anything more powerful than what she waswitnessing.
"Darren, are you a Holy Realm master?" Ella murmured in her soft, sweet voice.
"Not yet. But I think I will be one soon enough!” Darren answered with confidence.
Upon hearing what he had said, Ella began to wonder.
'If he is not far away from being a Holy Realm warrior, then does that mean that he is a seven-stargrand warrior?’ she thought to herself.
After having witnessed Darren's formidable strength and having Darren himself reassure her of hisabilities, Ella became certain that he was indeed a seven-star grand warrior.
It was said that all the seven-star grand warriors were legendary masters.
They only existed in those powerful tribes or clans.
For so many years, Ella had been under the impression that anyone who came close to a seven-stargrand warrior would be murdered without a second thought. In all the tales she had heard aboutthem, they were described to be devils, evil beyond compare.
However, she had never thought that she would encounter such a gentle seven-star grand warriorsuch as Darren. From the moment that they had met, Darren had not only helped her many timesbut also treated her like family.
Ella suddenly felt blessed to have met him.
"Darren," she began. "My family was killed by the Divine Lunar Sect, which is a very evil faction.” Ellatold Darren the whole truth about how the villagers died.
"How did you know that?" asked Darren, his heart crushed by what he had just found out.
"The elders told us stories of long ago when our land was inhabited by people who were banishedfrom their homes for the crimes that they committed. All the people who were found guilty forcommitting such horrible crimes were exiled here and kept away from the rest of the world. As theyears passed, the population of the land grew and soon, this land became an independent world. But it was said that a small part of the population was not part of those who were exiled but cameto the land out of their own volition. Their purpose was to wreak havoc and terror and they desiredto replace people to kill and sacrifice. Those people were the members of the Divine Lunar Sect. Overthe years, their power grew and spread all over this land. Their evil and power rival that of the devil'sthat even the Sacred Palace in the outside world has difficulty in handling them.
As for what it is like in the outside world or in the Sacred Palace, I have no idea.
More than a decade ago, not more than thirty kilometers from here, there was a village called thePeachy Cloud Village. The Divine Lunar Sect left the village devastated and destroyed everythingthat was in it. They killed a huge number of people and left their bodies with hook-shaped marks. My parents were also left with such marks on their bodies, so I believe that they were also murderedby the Divine Lunar Sect.”
Ella told Darren everything she knew.
Darren immediately examined the dead bodies after listening to Ella's story.
His face paled as he looked closer.
The bodies were scarred but they did not have the hook-shaped marks Ella had told him about. Themarks on the bodies were in the shape of a half-cross, which were strangely identical to the markDarren had gotten on himself before.
"Do you know why they would target civilians?" Darren asked.
"I don't know. The people of the Peachy Cloud Village were slaughtered more than ten years agoand our village has remained safe and sound until today.” As she spoke these words, Ella wasconsumed with anguish and began to tremble for she did not yet have the heart to face what hadhappened to her and her family.
Darren began to grow worried and restless. He thought back to when he was mysteriouslyimprinted with a half cross on his body. He remembered that even Hanson and Mathew wereshocked by the sudden event.
At that time, not knowing if the mark was good or evil, he had no choice but to hide in the StarryTower until his master's avatar had returned to remove the mark.
"Let's go!" Darren decided it would be better for them to leave and urged Ella to do so.
"Where do we go?" asked Ella, her eyes brimming with tears.
"I don't know yet. Let's get out of here first and decide after,” Darren answered shortly.
Ella drew in a breath and straightened her back. "Before we go,” she began. "Could I give my familya proper burial first? I can't bear to leave them on the ground like this."
Darren did not speak but began to use his blade and sword intents. After circling around for a shortwhile, seven hundred and eighty pits were suddenly carved into the earth and were fitted to turninto graves. Darren also used his blade and sword intents to lift up the dead bodies and place themin their graves where they were buried properly and honorably.
"Thank you, Darren.”
After saying her thanks, Ella knelt down in front of the graves and kowtowed three times. She wipedher tears from her eyes before standing up to follow Darren.
After Darren and Ella flew away, a strange ripple appeared out of thin air.
Out of the ripple came out a short man whose features resembled that of clay's. He stared at thedirection where Darren and Ella had gone and then threw his head back and laughed.
Darren held Ella's hand as they flew forward. If he had not held onto her so tightly, she would havenot been able to keep up with him.
After a while, Darren began to speak. "When we replace a place that is suitable, I will set you down first.Do you know such a place?" Darren broke the silence with this.
Ella's eyes grew wide. "Darren, I have no one left for me. Can't I just stay with you? I don't want togo to a strange place alone. I'm terrified!" She was panicked at hearing Darren's proposition.Darren glanced at her. "Well... 1 didn't mean that I would leave you for long. I also wanted to goaround and look for places to settle in."
Ella breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, I see.” She continued, "The villagers told me stories of manypowerful tribes and prosperous cities up north, but I have never been there before. I don't know ifthey really exist.”
"Okay, up north it is."
With that, Darren sped up towards the north.
After a few hours, Darren and Ella were able to cover over ten thousand kilometers, in spite of theirslow speed.
Darren used his abilities to feel around them and was able to sense a large city a short distanceaway.
Darren did not wish to attract any attention so he and Ella landed on the outskirts of the city andwalked towards the downtown area.
"The Impeccant City."
Darren glanced up at the name of the city imprinted on the gate door and found it interesting."Stop!"
One of the guards at the gate shouted and walked towards Darren and Ella.
"Is there something wrong?" Darren asked calmly.
"If you want to get inside the city, you must follow the rules.” The guard puffed out his chest."What rules?" Darren asked.
"You must sign!"
The guard thrust two scrolls in front of Darren and Ella.
Darren opened the scrolls and scanned them quickly.
Upon reading them, he immediately understood why the city before them was called the ImpeccantCity. The scrolls claimed that nothing that the citizens of the city could do would ever be consideredwrong. No matter what they did, they were all regarded as innocent.
Moreover, if they wished to enter the city, they had to pay the guards at the gate a thousand magicherbs or something of equal value in exchange.
"Darren, do we really need to get in?" Ella was hesitant after reading the scrolls.
"Aren't you tired? We've been flying around all day. We need to get some rest." After giving it somethought, Darren and Ella both signed the scrolls.
"Alright. Listen up, you little brats. No one in this city would care about who you are or where youcome from. If you die in this city, no one would even give it a second thought. Are you sure youwant to go in?" The city guard looked at them with disdain, feeling that neither Darren nor Ellapossessed any form of power.
"Why do you care so much about us? How does this look to you? I dare say it is worth at least twothousand magic herbs.”
Darren unsheathed his sword and waved it in front of the guard
The guard's eyes lit up. He recognized without a doubt that the sword in front of him was noordinary sword. Why? He knew it was worth far more than two thousand magic herbs!
"You may enter!"
the guard shouted.
Darren looked at him thoughtfully and began to speak. "Thank you! But before we go, I just haveone more question.”
The guard sneered at Darren. "Shut up you piece of shit! Get the hell out of here if you don't wantto enter now,” he roared angrily.
"Wait, let him ask! He only needs to give us ten magic herbs!" Another soldier came runningtowards them and placated the other guard.
"Here you go." Darren plucked out ten magic herbs from a small pouch and handed them over tothe guard. "I just wanted to know. If I killed you, no one would blame me, right? I mean, after all, weare in the Impeccant City."
