Talented Martial Hero
Chapter 662 I'll Give You A Task

It wasn't that the master of the Crimson Sea Sect was a weakling. It was just that the pain of soulattack was too much for anyone to bear.

By the comparison, Darren had indeed appeared to be more tenacious.

A man of the sect master's stature could not bear what he was going through and he could notresist the urge to cry out and beg for mercy. Darren, on the other hand, only grunted in pain a fewtimes. His fortitude was impressive!

"No need to waste time. Just open it."

Jordan became quite satisfied with how the master of the Crimson Sea Sect had suffered and hedecided it was time to get down to business.

At Jordan's command, the crowd of rule cultivators started to get busy. They began to pile into theark.

"Get out of here!"

A disciple of the Divine Mountain Sect kicked the master of the Crimson Sea Sect and threw himinto the boat. The master of the Heaven Lake Sect was also taken into the boat. The dwarf flewtowards them and landed on the bow of the boat.

"Are they leaving?"

Darren, still feeling weak, began to feel anxious. He did not know what to expect now that he sawthem beginning to depart.

Darren could not help but think that all the pain and humiliation that he had suffered would be fornothing if they were to leave.

Their purpose was to board the ark with these rule cultivators.

However, because of the pain he had endured, Darren began to harbor resentment towards theelder in the black robe and the dwarf named Jordan. He swore to himself that he would kill the bothof them when he got the chance.

To Darren's comfort, the boat came to a halt after it sailed for a while in the middle of the Sea ofSand and Fire.

Buzz!

The whole world shook and all sorts of runes appeared from the rule cultivators.

An ancient jade sword suddenly appeared in the midst of the runes.

The runes began to whirl around the sword as if they were being swallowed by it and they radiatedwith a strange energy.

A violent gust of wind began to blow all around. The jade sword was shimmering and wasenveloped in a bright white light. The earth began to shake violently and tendrils of black smokerose from the sea below.

"Master, should we offer them up as a sacrifice?"

the old man in black robe asked, gesturing towards the leaders of the Crimson Sea Sect and theHeaven Lake Sect.

"Now is not yet the time." Jordan kept his eyes fixed forward.

"So you want to open it!" The master of the Heaven Lake Sect was aghast and his face turnedcrimson.

"I am amused it took you this long to figure it out," the dwarf replied drily.

"You are courting death by doing this, Jordan! You must not enter! You also need holy blood toopen it, so there's no use sacrificing the two of us!" The master of the Heaven Lake Sect wasstartled.

"Oh, you don't need to worry about that. Go and get him for me. I could use him," Jordan said, pointing at Darren.

A gust of runes flew over, enveloping Darren and dropping him directly onto the ark.

"Boy, I will now give you a chance. Once you accomplish what I ask you to do, you and your friendwill not need to die. I will even give you a reward,” said Jordan.

"What do I have to do?" Darren asked.

"You wait until I give you my orders,” the dwarf snarled.

Darren said nothing else and looked straight ahead.

A hill suddenly appeared underneath the white light in the middle of the sea. It looked likesomething was about to spew out of it.

"Harrison, we are about to succeed. Let us exact revenge for the humiliation that you suffered attheir hands." At this time, the master of the Heaven Lake Sect was sending secret messages to themaster of the Crimson Sea Sect who was lying on the ground

"Never in my life have I been as humiliated as this. If we succeed, I will take most of what they havefor myself. Once we get out of here, you must not reveal to other people in the outside world thehumiliation I have suffered here. If you dare say a word, I, the master of the Crimson Sea Sect, willnot relent until your death, and I will be after you even in hell.” Harrison's resentment rang clearthroughout the head of the master of the Heaven Lake Sect.

"Don't worry. You can trust me. You should only be worried about the other people that coulddivulge your secret.”

"There is no one else here except for us. I will make sure that no one else will survive." Harrison'svoice rushed into the mind of the master of the Heaven Lake Sect. It was full of anger and malice, and he sensed that Harrison was planning to wreak havoc on all of those who were onboard theship.

The master of the Heaven Lake Sect remained silent. He understood. If it were him that had beeninsulted, he would seek his revenge as well. He understood the pain of the master of the CrimsonSea Sect very much.

A roar shook the world. Burning flames rose into the sky, threatening to turn everything it touchedinto ash.

The ship floated on the sea of fire and all who were onboard it were unscathed.

'If we were not on this ancient Spiritual Boat, we wouldn't have been able to withstand the flame. We are so lucky, ' the elder in the black robe thought to himself.

A flash of blinding white light suddenly came upon the sea of fire. In the midst of it was a bead, which seemed to be the source of the glare. The dwarf's face grew somber.

"Take out the bead and embed it in the hilt of the jade sword," Jordan said to Darren.

Darren was incredulous. "How would that be possible? I would burn as soon as I step off of thisboat!" He shook his head

"I will make a way for you to accomplish your task. I have a special weapon that would protect youas you complete your quest. You must know, however, that not just anyone would be able to trygrabbing the bead. Mere mortals would faint from the sheer pain of the burning flames, even withthe protection of this special weapon. You, to me, are the best choice. That way, I do not have to doit myself,” the dwarf said. He then took out an orange robe and handed it to Darren.

Jordan had planned to carry out this task by wearing the robe himself. However, when he saw thatDarren's threshold for pain was stronger than his, he decided that Darren must be the one to takethe bead.

Darren did not move.

"What are you doing? Do you want to die?" The dwarf began to threaten Darren. "If you do notagree, I will make sure you and your friends will never again see the light of day."

"If I make it, promise me that you will let my friends and I walk free," Darren said, taking the orangerobe from the dwarf's hands.

The dwarf nodded. "Of course."

Darren was quiet. He quickly put on the orange robe and a rune wrapped his body with strangemagic.

He jumped into the sea of fire.

"Ah!"

Darren was startled when a sharp pain took over his whole body.

His movements became slower and he could only inch himself forward. He made his way slowlytowards the bead.

When he was able to make his way a few feet forward, a burning pain penetrated his heart. The painwas so great that Darren could feel the life draining from his body.

In spite of his agony, he gritted his teeth and moved forward until he was only a few feet away fromthe bead.

Darren lifted his eyes and saw that a black flame surrounded the bead. Terror seeped into his heartand he was tempted to give up.

However, he knew there was no other way. His friends’ lives were at the dwarf's mercy and if hefailed, he was certain that they would all be killed.

The black flames danced around Darren and it became increasingly difficult for him to move.

“This flame could burn even my very soul,” he thought to himself.

Darren felt the pain at his core and he felt as if even his soul were on fire. However, the robe stilloffered him protection which allowed him to continue forward, albeit with tremendous effort.

His pain increased the closer he got to the bead.

Hiss.

The runes on Darren's body exploded and his skin began to sizzle. His robe flew open with a gust ofair and its edges began to fray.

"This is bad."

Jordan, who had been watching the scene from a distance, was taken aback. If Darren's clothes wereripped to shreds, the boy would surely die. Without the robe’s protection, he would not be able toaccomplish his task.

"Make sure that that robe stays intact!"

The dwarf ordered all the rule cultivators to unleash their power to keep Darren's robe together. Healso used his own power to assist them.

Darren felt relief when he felt the magic surround him and edge him closer towards his goal. However, he still felt as if his very soul was burning, which made it more difficult for him to moveforward.

Even though he was only one foot away, he felt like succumbing to his pain. He could not hold onany longer.
