Caroline, the phoenix, felt relieved to see the monkey.

"Help me get rid of him!" she said in a sharp voice.

As soon as the scarlet figure saw the monkey coming, his attacks on the phoenix grew fiercer. Hecould sense the monkey's strong aura.

But the monkey didn't move immediately.

"If I help you, that means you'll write off your grudge on me," he bargained.

"Come on, monkey! It's not the time to talk about this. Help me out first, or I'll die here!" thephoenix shouted. Her anxiety was skyrocketing.

"Well then, I take it you agree to my terms.” The monkey grinned.

He then muttered under his breath, "Devastation Skill!"

Boom!

The ground beneath them began to tremble as the monkey's power began to take effect. A shiningstick covered in runes dropped from the sky. The sight of it made the blood red figure nervous.With a mighty blast that was powerful enough to break the sky, it rushed towards the figure.

The blood red figure threw his long spear into the air. It instantly multiplied into a thousand spears,trying to fend off the incoming blow.

As the two were locked in battle, Caroline turned into a ray of light and charged towards the bloodred figure.

Her pair of wings were sharper than swords, and she used them to stab at the blood red figure. Herattacks were like burning flames pouring out in torrents.

The blood red figure turned furious. A bright scarlet light exploded from his body and he directed ittowards Caroline with the intention of hitting her.

Then the monkey suddenly appeared behind the blood red figure.

He bent the stick and started attacking the figure.

The entire area began collapsing. The stick disintegrated into a million shadows, raining down uponthe blood red figure.

Bang!

The blood red figure blasted the phoenix with a powerful blow. She fell to the ground upon impact.At the same time, the monkey's stick made contact with the figure, throwing him backwards.

He would have crashed into the cliff if his body wasn't weighed down by eight iron chains wrappedaround him.

"Damn it." His voice was cold and hoarse, mixed with fury.

He knew that he didn't have a chance against two such powerful people at the same time. It left himno choice but to flee the battle. "You have ruined all my plans! Just you wait. In a month, I will returnand I will kill you!" he threatened before gradually disappearing.

"What?" The monkey tried to get one last strike on the figure, but it was already too late. He wasgone.

"It's useless. The chains around him is a divine weapon that suppresses him and protects him at thesame time. Since we can't see him now, we won't be able to attack him. Let's go.”

Now that they were out of danger, Caroline flew up.

With the stick over his shoulder, the monkey followed suit.

As soon as Caroline landed, she transformed back into her human shape.

Her body was covered with wounds and her hair was a mess. It embarrassed her to be seen like this.Her proud stance was gone and she looked defeated

"Hey, are you dying?"

The monkey landed beside her.

"This is none of your business," Caroline replied icily. Meanwhile, she let her body heal on its own."Come on! Shouldn't you be thanking me? After all, this is the first time I saved someone." Andindeed, the monkey was telling the truth. This was the first time he saved a person instead of killingthem.

“Let me remind you that you owe me. I don't need to thank you when you're only repaying yourdebt," Caroline snapped.

The monkey laughed. "Ha-ha, you are right. From now on, we're even.” He slung his stick back onhis shoulder and was about to leave.

"Wait!"

Caroline reluctantly called out.

"What's wrong?” The monkey turned around.

"Take me back to my home. My phoenix elixir is injured and it'll take me a month to recover.”

It was obvious that Caroline was severely wounded. And when she flew out of the place, she hadcompletely used up all her remaining strength. Now, she could barely move at all. She wouldprobably keel over if she took any more steps, let alone fly back to her home by herself.

"Are you that badly hurt?" the monkey asked.

"If it isn't obvious, I won't even bother asking you to take me back home," she snapped.

"Aren't you afraid that I might kill you like this?" The monkey grinned, revealing rows of sharp teeth.His face looked ferocious.

"You..."

Caroline couldn't replace the right words to retort back at him. It hit her that there was no way shecould probably trust him.

"Are you scared?" the monkey asked.

Ignoring the twinges of pain, Caroline stood up. If the monkey had bad intentions, she vowed to putup a fight.

"If you dare harm me, I will detonate my phoenix elixir and we shall perish together.” Her breath wasunsteady and her voice was trembling.

"Ha-ha, I still have thirty percent of the Golden Indestructible Body. Do you think you can kill mejust by detonating your phoenix elixir? You are too naive.” The monkey began to walk over her.Bang!

Lifting his stick, shadows fell from the sky one by one. Caroline's face was deathly pale under thepressure.

She knew that detonating her phoenix elixir wouldn't work at all. It was just an empty threat.Nonetheless, she closed her eyes and waited.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

A cloud of dust rose between heaven and earth, covering everything under it.

"Phew!" With one deep breath, the monkey blew the dust away.

It revealed Caroline still standing there.

"Hey! I was just kidding.” The monkey laughed cheerily and started preening Caroline's hair.

Under his ministrations, she turned green with rage.

The monkey ignored her and went on, "I'm Darren's friend. You are his friend. How can I possibly killyou?"

Caroline was starting to get dizzy.

"Take your dirty hands off me or I swear I will kill you once I've recovered,” she threatened throughgritted teeth.

Again, the monkey pretended that he didn't hear her words at all. "You know, I've only now realizedthat you are really beautiful,” he said, staring at her perfect cheeks.

Caroline fell silent. Her chest heaved violently as she tried containing all her hatred in her heart.The monkey seemed completely oblivious to this as he continued to stare at her alluring face forthree days. The more he looked, the more his obsession grew. Her beauty had completely ensnaredhim.

"Perhaps, you can only discover the beautiful things once you cast aside distracting thoughts,” hemurmured absently to himself as he picked up Caroline.

"What are you doing?" Caroline was indignant, and it made her look terrifying

"I have enjoyed your beauty for three days. That's enough. Let me take you back home."

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The wind brushed at them as the monkey soared through the air.

Caroline found herself cradled by the monkey's arms and cushioned by his chest. The position shefound herself was embarrassing, and she found herself battling her anger with shyness.

"Why are you flying so slowly?" she demanded, coldly.

"I'm worried that your wounds might reopen if I fly too fast," he explained. "Also, don't ask me whyI'm being kind. I just found out I like you." As he said this, he kept looking straight ahead.

Caroline was too stunned to speak.

But her anger came back quickly enough. "Aren't you satisfied with kidding me once?"

"I'm serious this time," the monkey replied.

Back on the island, Darren finally woke up from his cultivation.

"It's done. Ha-ha."

He had finally completed his training and what he needed to do next was to perfect the cooperativecombat skills with Caroline.

But despite his success, Darren could not help but be worried about the monkey and Caroline, so heflew out to see whether they had come back.

Whoosh!

As he was about to fly out of the island, he saw the monkey with Caroline in his arms approachingfrom afar. He also saw that Naomi and Augustine was already there, waiting for them as well.

"What are you doing? Help me down," Caroline roared at Naomi angrily as soon as they arrived.Naomi, completely surprised to see Caroline being carried by the monkey, found herself stutteringan affirmation. "Yes. Right.”

She hurriedly went over to the pair and helped Caroline down from the monkey's arms.

But for some reason, the monkey wouldn't let her go. Despite Naomi's attempts, he was unmovable."Let go of me!" Caroline said.

Caroline was embarrassed to be seen in her current predicament especially by the younger ones.Her face burned red, and this time, it had nothing to do with her own flame aura.

Darren glanced at the monkey, astonished to replace that his face was red, too.

Suddenly, Darren could no longer stop himself.

He burst out laughing.
