Chapter 911 Finding Another Treasure Beast
These disciples were sent by Holy City to search for Darren. What they didn't realize was that Darrenwas standing right in front of them.
"Arvin, what does that guy even look like? Let me see the portrait the elder sent us,” one disciplesaid.
"Don't bother, we're not going to replace him anyway. A weak guy like him must've been dead sinceentering the Thundering Beast Land. Let's just have our fun here and go back to the city after a fewdays," said Arvin,
"You're right, at least they'll think we tried searching,” replied the disciple.
Darren realized the "weak guy" they were talking about was him.
He wasn't very happy with their opinions. You could hear their contempt in the way they spoke ofhim.
'l won't tell them it's me. Let's see what else these guys have to say!" Darren said to himself. Darrendidn't enjoy hearing the insults, but if he revealed his identity, they'd just bring him to Holy City andask for a reward. He decided they didn't deserve that.
"Chaz, go ask them how to get back to the eighteen cities. We'll look for the Holy City on our own,”Darren said to Chaz through spiritual sense.
"Got it!" said Chaz.
When Chaz stepped forward, the disciples shivered in fear. They were already intimidated, eventhough Chaz hadn't spoken a word yet.
"Hey, which way to the eighteen cities?" Chaz's tone was cold and arrogant.
The disciples couldn't blame Chaz for it. They could all agree that this was how a powerful manwould act.
"You don't even know the way to the eighteen cities?" Arvin asked, staring at Chaz in confusion. Thequestion seemed absurd.
"Cut the crap. Just tell us how to get there!" Chaz said impatiently. It only added to his intimidatingaura.
Arvin started to get annoyed by this, but he let the feeling go. "Just use the transmission token.Don't tell me you don't even have one of those with you?" he said a bit cockily.
Chaz glared at him for a bit and turned back to Darren's side, wordlessly.
"You heard him. Do we just kill them and take their tokens?" Chaz asked.
Darren shook his head slightly and said, "No. They're from Holy City and were just sent to replace us.They might have a bad attitude, but that's no reason to kill them. On the other hand, we have areason to kill the ones from Blue Cloud City since they tried to kill me before. They might have sometokens on them, so we can just take the tokens from their corpses once we're done with them.”Chaz nodded. Darren was right. These disciples from Holy City didn't deserve to die—they were justannoying.
"We'll be on our way, then,”
said Darren calmly to the disciples. He then started to walk off with Chaz.
"Could we get your name?" asked Neal, who had just been saved.
"It doesn't matter. Bye!"
With these words, the two men flew into the sky.
"What a loser, acting all mysterious like that. I bet he's going to die sooner or later!" a disciplesneered.
Four hours into their flight, the sky began to turn gray. The cold winds and light rain gave off ableak and gloomy feeling.
Darren and Chaz landed in a withered forest within the area.
"I sense their aura here," said Darren.
They were on the lookout for the people from Blue Cloud City.
"The aura is faint. They might be long gone from here."
"They might've gone deeper into the withered forest. Let's follow them through there.”
The pair continued to soar through the sky. The deeper they flew into the withered forest, thedarker their surroundings became. From within the forest came terrifying beastly roars one after theother. Any ordinary inferior holy warriors who set foot in these parts would be injured just by theseroars.
A gust of wind suddenly billowed through the forest.
A number of trees in its path fell over as a radiant light burst out in the distance.
"Well, what could that be?"
Darren and Chaz stopped and tried to investigate the aura.
"The aura is a bit familiar. It seems like the beast you killed before, but much stronger,” Chaz said."Right! They called it a treasure beast! Seems like we've found another one of them.”
"It seems so! But what would you need the Runic Bone for?" Chaz asked.
"Haven't you heard what they said? This treasure can be used to activate the holy tribulation. It musthave something to do with improving the cultivation base through surviving the tribulations,”Darren said.
Chaz's eyes lit up as a memory came back to him. "I see now! It must be a kind of fragmentcontaining Holy Tribulation Rule!"
Darren nodded in agreement and said, "Haven't you gone through four tribulations before? Didn'tyou use this kind of method?"
Chaz shook his head. "There is nothing this powerful and rare in the outside world. I had to survivethe tribulations by accumulating Primitive Stones containing the Holy Tribulation Rules. It took meover ten thousand years.
I had heard of this kind of Runic Bone before, actually. How could I have forgotten? What anamazing treasure! A single piece is enough for triggering a tribulation. Its power amounts to all thePrimitive Stones I have collected in all those tens of thousands of years.”
"I see. It seems that we have to kill this treasure beast. If I can't replace a use for it, at least I know youcan," Darren said.
"With that Runic Bone, I'll finally have a shot at surviving the fifth tribulation!" Chaz exclaimedexcitedly. By his expression, you'd think he was already triumphant.
"Let's make haste. If we're too slow, it might escape.”
Darren and Chaz followed the aura of the treasure beast and rushed through the air toward it.They landed with a great rumble.
The sand flew, and the pebbles rolled. Thick smoke billowed in all directions. For a moment, nothingcould be seen at all.
Once the smoke cleared, Darren and Chaz spotted a beast adorned in colorful light was battling agroup of humans. It seemed someone had beaten them to the chase.
"Retreat! The treasure beast is too powerful!"
They had all been overpowered by the beast and were heavily injured.
The young man in the lead clenched his fists. He was hesitant. He didn't want to give up on theprecious Runic Bone that they would acquire if they slayed the treasure beast.
The treasure beast's power, however, was immense. By estimate, its strength could match up to atop level four-tribulation junior holy warrior—perhaps even a five-tribulation junior holy warrior.Even using the arcane skill couldn't help their power reach equal footing with the beast.
"Senior brother, we have to leave, or this place will be our grave!” The young man got anxious bythis thought. He shook his head. In his mind, this would be too much to let go.
"No, I won't leave." The young man in the lead was adamant.
"Don't go? Do you want to die? You're letting your personal interests get the better of you. If youdon't put that greed aside, we're leaving you here."
In a life or death situation, even a team leader's orders didn't matter anymore.
"How dare you! Fine, then. Inform the young master, so he can slay it right away!" Considering thedire situation, the team leader had to tweak his plans. If they couldn't kill the beast, they had tomake sure that someone else from their side would.
"Inform the young master? If we get his help and slay the beast, he'll just take the Runic Bone forhimself. What's the point of putting in all this effort when we get nothing in the end?”
"You fool, this treasure beast only appears a few times in a hundred thousand years. Rather than letit run away, we should just give it to the young master. It is likely that he'll get so excited fromhaving received the treasure that he'll give us all promotions. He'll probably give us a handsomereward for it too. Don't you think this sounds ten thousand times better than just letting it go?""You're right. Let's inform the young master right now. Surely, he'll make haste.”
The young man leading them drove a great point. The rest of the team immediately gave up on theidea of retreating. They thought excitedly about the reward waiting for them after the young masterarrived to help. It was worth keeping up with the treasure beast's strength.
A gust of wind passed through them.
Two figures suddenly appeared.
Then, a strong sword intent rushed toward the colorful treasure beast.
"Wow! What a powerful sword intent!"
Everyone quickly stood back. No one dared to stay in the sword intent's path.
