Chapter 933 The First Gate
Darren dodged the sudden attack. Hailey and Anthony immediately came to his aid.
The ancient golden roc roared fiercely. It flapped its golden wings, covering them with a shower ofgolden feathers.
Anthony gathered his strength and transformed himself into a phantom. He charged towards theancient golden roc.
Bang!
The ancient golden roc flapped its wings and Anthony was blown away.
Anthony was a five-tribulation junior holy warrior, but he was not as powerful as the ancient goldenroc. Hailey's grey and white sword intent shot into the air as Anthony's body flew backwards.
The next moment, the roc was shrouded in a golden light. When the grey sword intent fell on thegolden roc, it did no harm.
"Darren, why did it try to kill you?" The question came from the Grand Crow.
"I took its treasure. I didn't expect it to catch me," Darren replied.
"You're very bold. But that bastard deserves it! I can help you, if you want me to. But you have topromise me one thing. Once you have enough strength, you must help me kill all the bastards in theGolden Roc Clan. What do you think?"
The hatred of the Grand Crow toward the Golden Roc Clan was no less than its hatred towards theGolden Crow Clan.
"As long as you can defeat it now, you have my word."
Darren faced forward. Hailey was already using her fusion power, but the golden roc effortlesslydodged every single one of her attacks.
The Grand Crow was their only hope now.
"Take this!"
Suddenly, a fierce roar rang out from the sky. A bright, red cloud loomed in the air.
"Caw!"
The roc raised its head and saw the cloud headed towards it. Fear crept into its heart and it let out ahiss.
"Go to hell, you beast!" The ancient golden roc was frightened by the roar and crept into the voidwithout so much as a glance behind it.
"That... that was it?" Darren was surprised at his opponent's sudden retreat.
"Humph. It's not easy to frighten it. However, it already fears me. It won't be coming back to botheryou any time soon,” the Grand Crow said proudly.
"That can't be. Surely, the roc might have heard that you're not as strong as you once were. Whywould it be afraid?” Darren asked doubtfully.
"Although I am not as strong, I can still kill it. You won't understand. If I were not afraid of beingdiscovered by other enemies, I would have killed it in a minute.
The truth is..complicated. But, enough of that. You should enter the holy emperor's tomb. Thelonger you dally, the more dangerous it is for all of you," the Grand Crow said.
"Okay, let's go.” Darren didn't want to think too much about it. He beckoned to Anthony and theothers to step into the crack in the wall.
They all entered the cave and found that the groups holding the three Blood Suppressing Beadswere there too.
The tunnel seemed endless, and they had already been flying in the dark for hours before theyfinally reached the first gate.
"Be careful. This is the first gate. We must kill the guardian of the gate then use the golden crows’fragments in order to pass,” the Grand Crow reminded.
"What is the guardian of the gate?” Darren asked.
"A powerful figure, just like that golden roc,” the Grand Crow said calmly.
"What?" Chaz was stunned. If the guardian was as strong as the golden roc, how would they be ableto defeat the guardian?
Darren had the same thoughts. "We need to be careful. The guardian of this gate is just as powerfulas the golden roc.”
"How did you know that, Darren?"
For the first time in days, Laura finally spoke to Darren.
"I was following the master's guidance. He should be right.”
"Alright." Laura had heard about the mysterious master many times now. If Darren trusted him, shethought that she could too.
"With such a strong guardian at the first gate, it won't be easy for us to get into the inheritancearea.” Anthony looked solemn as he said this.
"This is the holy emperor's tomb. It would make sense that it's protected by such strong forces.Though, I wonder about what is buried in the inheritance area. Do you think it's a treasure thatcould turn someone into an emperor?" Chaz asked.
"That's impossible! There are no treasures in the world that can do that," Laura said.
"Anything is possible.” When Anthony spoke, a strange light came over his eyes.
“Lad, he is coming,” the Grand Crow warned.
Boom!
With a booming sound, countless dots of light flocked together to form a human figure.
It chased away the darkness and the whole space was awash with light.
A group of warriors appeared behind them.
"This is the guardian of the gate! Everyone, be on your guard!" The group of warriors behind themgot ready to fight.
"Are we not going to attack yet?" Laura whispered to Anthony.
"Don't worry. Let them go ahead. We'll get them out of the way," Anthony said.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The guardian was barraged by a flurry of attacks, but he did not move an inch.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
To the astonishment of the crowd, their attacks simply went through the guardian's body. It was as ifhe were a ghost.
"What?! What does this mean? Not a scratch is on him!"
Everyone was stunned. The guardian couldn't be killed. There was nothing to do but wait for theirdoom
To make matters worse, they noticed that all of their attacks were being absorbed by the gate. Soon, the aura surrounding the guardian glowed even brighter.
"He can absorb our power!" someone yelled out.
"What should we do?" They looked at each other in dismay.
The guardian took a step forward
Everyone watched the way that he moved.
"What?"
Darren frowned. He could feel the guardian's spiritual sense enveloping him. He seemed to be theguardian's target.
"Damn it! Why?" Darren's heart beat faster. He didn't understand why the guardian was fixated onhim.
Suddenly, the guardian turned towards Hailey. He flew in their direction and landed right in front ofher.
"You can pass,"
the guardian said gruffly.
Hailey blinked in surprise. She was unsure why she was being allowed to go through.
Darren thought it over.
Buried in this tomb was the holy emperor who practiced Conflicting Cultivation. Since Haileypracticed Primitive Feminine and Primitive Masculine skills, which was also a form of ConflictingCultivation, she was the most worthy of them to go through. If that was the case, Darren should bethe next one to pass the gate.
However, what happened next left him even more stunned.
