Chapter 937 The Blood River Behind The Door

Even when consciousness was slowly slipping from him, Darren could feel that the guardian wascoming for him. Both of them were no longer in their peak states, but the guardian could still killhim under such circumstances

The others wouldn't dare confront the guardian. Their skills were too common so they didn't havethe capabilities to save Darren now. Even the Grand Crow couldn't attack the guardian.

After deflecting the third attack, Darren's armor had returned to the spatial treasure of the GrandCrow.

But now that he was on the brink of death, he had to use all his strength for a chance to survive.However, just staying conscious was a battle itself.

Almost instinctively, he searched for his Space Ring.

A black armor appeared, making a loud ruckus at its arrival.

It wrapped itself around his heart and head to make sure that they were protected. It was the DarkEmperor Armor.

But this didn't seem to bother the guardian. He simply charged towards Darren and beganpounding on the Dark Emperor Armor.

Black runes burst out from each collision. The Dark Emperor Armor fought back automatically until ahuge black hand came out of nowhere and grabbed hold of the guardian.

Having lost his vitality from the last few rounds, the guardian couldn't put all his strength in hisstruggle to get out of the grasp. Trapped by the Dark Emperor Armor’s power, he failed to shatterDarren's heart.

He let out a piercing howl.

Mustering all his strength, he continued unleashing his attacks at Darren. His body was on the vergeof destruction even as black and white lights shot towards Darren's heart like sharp, black arrows.The Dark Emperor Armor wasn't in good condition, either. With just one blow, it could fall apartanytime especially since Darren didn't own the complete set.

Just then, everyone heard a cat's meow.

They looked around, but they couldn't see any signs of the cat. They saw a silver tail like that of atiger flashed by, but it quickly disappeared again.

With a flick from the tail, the black and white light dispersed in an instant.

"Boy, you have passed the first test.” A low rustling sound came out and Darren suddenly foundhimself covered in green light. His wounds began knitting themselves back and his bonesrearranged themselves to mend the breaks. In just a blink of an eye, he was good as new.

"What? What's going on?"

As soon as everything had settled down, everyone had a look of surprise and confusion on theirfaces. They didn't know who was speaking.

Then, a Tiger Cat jumped out of nowhere, revealing itself to everyone.

"To those who wish to enter my master's tomb for their own interests, listen to me.

To be frank, you are all rubbish, and there's no chance for you to get through this journey. Strictlyspeaking, none of you can pass the first test, let alone the second and third." The Tiger Cat lookeddown on them with undisguised disdain on his face. His tone was condescending and belittling."Who are you? How dare you insult us?"

Everyone present was the best cultivators from the younger generation of the eighteen cities. To becalled rubbish by this Tiger Cat was humiliating and unacceptable.

"Even your teachers are no match for me, so what makes you think you can get through me? In fact,I don't think calling you rubbish is enough to show how useless you all are. The only ones worthy ofbeing called warriors are that woman and the boy from the dragon race.” The Tiger Cat sniffed,arrogantly.

"Enough talk! Let's just see how capable you really are, you bastard!"

One of the top warriors of the four-tribulation rushed towards the Tiger Cat. Rage was radiating outof him.

But before he could even touch the Tiger Cat, his body crumpled like a piece of paper. Meanwhile,the Tiger Cat watched indifferently as the warrior's body disintegrated into ashes.

"What? Did the animal kill Mister Zhao with just his spiritual sense?" Fear settled among the rest ofthem, making them feel uneasy.

"Do you see now that you are all just insects to me? Or do you need further demonstrations?" TheTiger Cat narrowed his eyes threateningly.

"Just tell us what you want! Do you want to kill all of us or what?" someone asked, plucking up hiscourage to do so.

"Kill you? Now where's the fun in that? Here's something better. I'll give you a chance as long as youbreak into the inheritance area and defeat that boy from the dragon race in each test that mymaster had made. If you're successful, I'll spare your life, and I'll even give you a precious reward."Everyone looked at each other, pondering upon the Tiger Cat's proposal.

Darren's skills had indeed exceeded their expectations, but they knew that he still wasn't thatpowerful. Defeating him wouldn't be too hard.

"Are you serious?"

"I always keep my word just as long as you succeed in breaking through the inheritance area. Nowstop wasting our time and proceed to the next tasks behind those doors.” The Tiger Cat thenvanished into thin air.

It was then that Darren had finally recovered his senses, but the Tiger Cat's words had left himconfused.

He didn't know what the Tiger Cat could possibly want from him. He saved Darren's life only to haveeveryone else turn against him. He truly couldn't understand the Tiger Cat's intentions.

He transformed back into his human form and saw that the Grand Crow had all his feathers strippedoff.

His body was now smooth and pale like a dead chicken.

"Are you dead already, old bird? If you're still alive, can you tell me about that cat?" Darren asked.The Grand Crow suddenly began to tremble in fear upon hearing the name.

"Damn it! I'm screwed if he knows I'm here," the Grand Crow muttered, shuddering.

"Why the hell are you afraid of him?"

"You know nothing about that cat! He's extremely strong and aggressive. Even at my peak, he wasstill able to defeat me. I still feel like crying just thinking back on it. He is a real Emperor Realmcultivator and the top guardian of the holy emperor's tomb. No one can defeat him,” the GrandCrow explained. His eyes were glassy and red as if tears threatened to fall from them.

"So what does the cat want then? Why did he help me only to provoke others to attack me?" Darrenasked.

"God knows what that kitten is up to now. You just have to deal with it. I have already lost all myfeathers to save you. So there's nothing more I can do. Now, I need to have my wounds cured first.Don't disturb me."

With that, he fell silent, concealed his aura and squatted on Darren's shoulder. His body wascompletely hidden from sight.

"Darren! It's good to see you alive!” Anthony came over and landed next to Darren.

"Yes. I'm still alive thanks to my friends.” Darren sighed.

"You're really lucky to have survived all those fierce attacks, brat. Now be prepared for anotherround," a warrior shouted.

Having been promised a reward from the Tiger Cat, all the powerful warriors were now eyeingDarren. They were all too happy to oblige with the cat's request just so they could stay alive.Darren's face darkened upon realizing where this was heading to. “Let's replace out if you can get tothe inheritance area alive first. Let's go, Anthony.”

With that, Darren took out a few pieces of the golden crow's fragments from his Space Ring andwalked right through the door.

The door opened automatically as soon as the fragments were embedded in it. A beam of lightpassed through the opening and wrapped itself around Darren and his companions. The next thing,they were being transported inside.

"Darren, we must proceed with caution after this. If we had difficulties in the first one, the secondone would be much harder," Chaz warned. He had finally woken up from the trance he was stuck in.His powers were also finally free from the suppression that restrained them.

"I fear for you, too, Darren. It's too dangerous," Laura echoed back. Her worry reflected Chaz's ownsentiment. She, too, had just come out of her trance and was now scared for Darren. But she wasable to hide it better than Chaz.

"We won't know it's true if we don't try first. And if it turns out that it's not dangerous, theneveryone will get treasures,” Darren said, shrugging casually.

"That's right,” Anthony agreed. But he let out a sigh.

Then, the stench of blood filled the place. It was pitch black in here and they couldn't see where itwas coming from.

Finally, streaks of dim light broke through the darkness. The door opened and everyone steppedinside. Behind the door was a boundless black ground. And on the ground, there was the violent redof a blood river.

"This is the blood river! It's said that the emperor's blood spilled and covered the entire land afterhe died. Thus, this river was created.”

Darren felt the pounding of his heart speeding up until it began to trip on itself. The sight of theriver amazed him.

He had already seen it once in the forbidden domain of the Space-time Palace.
