Chapter 951 The Black Sea

Her silent, sorrowful expression reminded Darren of Denise.

"You have stories to tell," Darren said calmly.

"No. I don't have any stories. Can you save me once? Please," the Water Spirit implored.

"Yes." Darren nodded without hesitation when he saw her earnest expression.

"Great! You agreed!" The Water Spirit leaped in the air. She was so beautiful and graceful that shereminded Darren of a blue spirit on the ice land.

"A promise is a promise.” The Water Spirit winked at Darren, then turned into a blue mist and flewaway.

"Help. Who can help me?"

A moment later, Darren heard the Water Spirit's call

Darren was speechless. He had expected to hear some fear in her tone. Instead, she seemed thrilled.As Darren had promised to play this game with her, he would save her, just as she had asked.Whoosh!

When Darren flew in the direction where the Water Spirit's voice had come from, he saw her lyingon the Absolute Cold Pool.

"What happened to you?" Darren asked as he feigned concern.

"Help me. I have been trapped here for many years. Can you help me, please?" the Water Spiritpleaded.

"Yes," Darren answered listlessly. This game was more boring than he had imagined.

"Hey. Can you be a little more serious?" The Water Spirit frowned and pouted as she admonishedDarren.

"Okay." Darren nodded. Then, after a brief pause, he added, "Don't be afraid, miss. I'll help you."Suddenly, Darren laughed over the silliness of the game. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn'ttake the game seriously. After all, she was the powerful Water Spirit, and she was not in danger!When he saw her expression, however, he swallowed his laughter and took a few steps backward.Simultaneously, he began to probe his surroundings with his spiritual sense. He wondered if he wastoo naive to see beyond the superficial ridiculousness of the game. Perhaps there were other tricksthat he had to discover.

Darren was dumbfounded when he found that the game was, indeed, as silly as it appeared.Nevertheless, he scooped the Water Spirit in his arms and carried her out of the Absolute Cold Pool.Darren was speechless as he stared at the Water Spirit in his arms.

He really didn't know what to say as this was such a childish game.

"Hee-hee. Thank you for saving me, kindhearted man.” The Water Spirit smiled innocently. With herbig, bright eyes and flushed cheeks, she resembled a blue lotus blooming in the snow.

"Well, are you done? Will you let me leave this world now?" Darren sighed as he asked. He didn'twant to think about the game or the Water Spirit's silliness.

"You saved me. But I haven't paid you back yet." The Water Spirit pouted.

"There is no need for that.” Darren shook his head. The quicker this game ended, the better. And so,he didn't encourage her.

"All right then. But, I do have a secret to tell you." The Water Spirit continued to tease Darren. Deepdown inside, he had to admit that she looked adorable.

"What is it?"

"Never mind. I've changed my mind. You should go now. Bye!"

The Water Spirit jumped out of Darren's arms as she spoke. Instantly, a blue light covered the icyplain. Then, a door appeared in midair. In stark contrast, everything behind the door was dark."I'm leaving. Bye," Darren said.

"Bye." The Water Spirit nodded.

An inexplicable sense of foreboding coursed through Darren.

He couldn't figure out the Water Spirit's purpose for playing a boring game with him. Whatconfused him, even more, was her promise to share a secret with him and then her unexpectedreconsideration after he carried her out of the black ice.

"The door is open. This is my chance to leave. Don't overthink what just happened,” Darrenmuttered to himself.

Then, without a second glance at the Water Spirit, Darren flew toward the black gate.

Had he turned, Darren would have seen the teary Water Spirit trying to shout, "Don't go there,Darren. Don't..." But, even though her lips moved, no sound came out.

A sea of blackness extended before Darren.

Confusion coursed through him as he stood on a cliff and listened to the roaring waves.

"What kind of test is this?" he murmured as he racked his brain for an explanation.

As Darren stared blankly into the vast black sea, a gentle breeze carried the smell of the sea."Should I wait here?

No. I'd better fly out and explore,”

Darren murmured to himself. Then, he flew toward the boundless sea.

After several days and nights of continuous flying, Darren did not encounter anything, nor didanything unusual happen.

“The last test must be very special. How do I get to see the guardian?’ Darren wondered.

As he didn't see anything while flying, Darren decided to explore the bottom of the sea.

Thump!

Darren turned toward the sea and dove into its dark waters.

'It is so dark in here!"

Once Darren was deep in the water, he furrowed his brows as he didn't replace any living creature, noteven a fish or a shrimp. Only darkness surrounded him.

After several days and nights of swimming deep under the water, Darren still but did not see anyliving creatures.

Such a result worried Darren. As there was nothing in this vast sea, he wondered if he was trappedhere.

Sick of this predicament, Darren began to question why that door had appeared.

"Roar!"

Suddenly, he heard a frightening sound.

The noise was so unexpected and so terrifying that Darren trembled. He had never heard such aterrible roar before. It was so powerful that it could shatter a continent.

"What could have made such a sound? Could it be a holy emperor?"

Darren murmured. But, a moment later, he changed his mind as he felt that even a holy emperorcould not roar like this.

Scared but curious, Darren decided to investigate the source of the sound.

After a few months of swimming, Darren had covered a distance of over five hundred thousandkilometers. Finally, he felt as though he was close to the place from where the sound came.Gradually, Darren started to swim upwards. A few days later, he surfaced.

Ahead of Darren was a vast coastline. Darren estimated that he was less than a hundred kilometersfrom that coastline.

When he probed carefully, Darren found that a few dormant creatures were on the coast. Theyappeared to be tens of thousands of feet tall and very strong.

'What kind of creature is that? They look like apes.’ Darren was confused.

"Howl!"

When one of the apes roared, Darren's face paled.

His ears, nose, and eyes began to bleed from the shock he had sustained. Even his internal organsstarted to feel very hot as if they were burning.

The roar almost killed Darren! It was terrifying.

Darren endured the pain as he turned and swam to the bottom of the sea. Had he not gone so farbelow the water's surface, the next roar would have killed him!

"Roar!"

Although Darren had crossed tens of thousands of feet, the second roar shocked him. He becamedizzy and felt as though his internal organs were about to fail.

“This is so horrible."

Darren was extremely frightened. He swallowed a drop of the holy emperor's power to enhance hisability to defend against the roar's power.

It only took a few brief seconds for Darren to feel better, but he didn't dare to stay there andcontinued to dive deeper.

After he reached a depth of about a hundred thousand kilometers, he heard the next roar. This time,the sound did not hurt him.

Desperate but relieved, Darren hid at the bottom of the sea, surrounded by its dark water. Hecouldn't figure out what this last test was and how these extremely powerful creatures came here.“Those creatures appear to be stronger than holy emperors. What's going on?'

Darren hoped that the guardian would be able to answer his questions.
