Talented Martial Hero -
Chapter 962 Ancient Humans
Soft dripping noises slowly turned into a light drizzle.
By morning, the rain began to fall.
"Hmm." Darren let out a light snort as he was awakened by the rain.
He looked around and realized he was in an unknown wilderness.
"What? Why am I not at the bottom of the sea?" Darren was a little surprised and also confused. Heturned around and found Hailey—still sound asleep. Darren quickly woke her up.
Hailey woke up as puzzled as Darren.
"I remember someone telling us something before we passed out.”
"Yes, it was something about the test rules.
Do you still remember what it was, exactly?" Darren asked.
"Well, if I remember correctly, the voice said we should join a tribe and gather our strength. But, I'mnot sure about anything else," Hailey replied. She was trying her best to recall.
"Yeah, that's all I heard too.” Darren nodded and said, "Let's look around and see if anyone is outthere."
With that, the two of them prepared to leave.
The next moment, a loud thud was heard as Darren hit the ground.
As soon as Darren had hopped up to leave, his body had slumped over to the ground. Only thendid he realize that all his strength had disappeared.
"What?"
Hailey immediately checked her strength level as well and found that it had also vanished.
"What's going on?" asked Hailey in surprise.
After some pondering, Darren looked up at Hailey and said, "I see! Remember, before we fainted, alot of ancient rules were entering our body, right?"
"Yes, that's correct,” replied Hailey, uncertain where Darren was going with this.
"That's right. I think the ancient rules replaced the original rules in our body. Under the effect of theancient rules, all our abilities have disappeared. This is because many of the abilities we've learnedby now had not yet existed in the ancient times. Even if they did exist now, they'd be running undera different system of rules.”
Darren was certain, because he experienced the same thing in the Ancient Void Battlefield.Everything within the Ancient Void Battlefield was useless in the outside world, and any strength hegained within it would disappear once he left.
This was because of the different systems of the rules.
"Argh!"
As they were talking, they suddenly heard a strange scream. A group of people appeared. They haddark skin, paint on their faces, and their bodies covered in beasts’ fur.
About twenty people came out and attacked Darren and Hailey wielding stone spears.
'Oh no! Ancient humans!" Darren realized that it was impossible for them to defeat the ancienthumans without their strength.
Moreover, the ancient humans didn't seem weak. Each of them was comparable to a grand warrior."Please, leave us alone," Darren said, trying to stay calm.
"Whoo! Whoo! Whoo!" the ancient humans replied.
Upon hearing Darren's words, the ancient humans were crying out in excitement.
The crowd then rushed forward and captured Darren and Hailey. They were quickly tied to a pieceof wood and the ancient humans happily carried them along with them.
Darren and Hailey decided not to resist because they knew if they aggravated these ancienthumans, they would be killed without hesitation.
After they were carried through a woodland, they were brought to the ancient humans’ gatheringplace.
Upon entering the village, they were swarmed by a group of children that were babbling excitedly—as if they were looking at delicious food.
"Darren, what should we do?" asked Hailey in a flustered tone.
"It's no big deal. It only takes a few days for us to become grand warriors, given our talent. Just bearwith it and don't die.”
"I think I'll be eaten before anything else. What if we can't hold on for the next few days?" Haileyshuddered in fear.
"Don't worry. We'll definitely survive." Darren's confident words put Hailey at ease.
After a while, Darren and Hailey were carried to a cave. The ancient humans untied them and threwthem in.
The cave looked like a cellar, about three thousand feet deep. It looked wide near the bottom, butthe air was putrid and uncomfortable.
"Ouch!" Darren fell hard on the ground. He felt like his bones were about to break.
"Are you all right? Are you hurt?" Hailey blushed. She didn't get hurt because she fell on top ofDarren.
"It's okay. I can bear the pain of breaking a few bones.”
Hailey teared up as Darren spoke.
"I'm so sorry, Darren,” she croaked
"Don’t apologize. Just go and replace something useful.” Darren struggled to his feet and fumbledaround in the dark cave.
A howl ripped through the cave.
A pair of glittering eyes suddenly flashed in the darkness.
"There's a beast!"
Darren staggered back.
Immediately after, more than a hundred pairs of eyes lit up through the cave.
"I see. So, this is the place where ancient humans keep their food,” Darren murmured.
"I feel sick.” The putrid air and the smell of beasts made Hailey want to vomit.
Darren, however, felt overjoyed. "God is helping me! I can gather more power by killing thosebeasts," he exclaimed excitedly. He was pumped up.
Although Darren's other abilities had disappeared, the strange stone in his mind was not affected atall. Because the rule system that the strange stone carried didn't belong to any era—it was fromouter space.
What bothered Darren was that both he and Hailey didn't have the strength to kill a beast. In theancient times, even ordinary creatures were extremely powerful.
The hundreds of beasts might have been at their weakest, but their aura was still comparable togrand warriors.
It was extremely difficult for an ordinary person to kill a grand warrior.
Fortunately, the beasts were all tied up and unable to move. Otherwise, Darren and Hailey would'vebeen devoured.
"Darren, let's cultivate here. Although our strength has been reduced, we still remember thosemartial arts skills. It's no big deal to start from the beginning,” said Hailey.
"Well, that's exactly what I'm thinking. Let's go back to the basics." Darren nodded.
In his mind, he recalled all the martial skills. Most of them couldn't be practiced and rendereduseless because of the difference in the rule system
'I know, now! The Profound Nine Sword Skills! A long lost sword formula!" Darren thought excitedly. After thinking for a time, Darren found the first superior martial arts skill that he gained in his youth. It could be used under the ancient rules.
In retrospect, this Profound Nine Sword Skills was a superior sword skill. It wasn't something thatcould be normally obtained.
However, when Darren's strength slowly increased, the sword formula appeared to be useless, so hehadn't used it for hundreds of years.
“This is going to be good. It makes sense for it to be weak at first, haha.’ Darren smiled triumphantly.Immediately after, he began to analyze the Profound Nine Sword Skills in his mind again. His talentwas about to surpass the Genuine Domain Degree, so he made a perfect comprehension of his skillin an instant.
