Chapter 971 Give The Shura's Corpse To Me

Darren turned around and was surprised to see an old man standing behind him.

"It's you! How did you get in?" Startled, he realized that it was the same old man who had caughthim.

Since he was the master of the Ancient Void Battlefield, nobody should have been able to enter itwithout his permission. The mere presence of the old man here stunned him.

"Young man, how come you have a holy emperor's small world?

Oh, wait. It didn't belong to you. You've inherited it from someone," the old man mused, ignoringDarren's incredulity.

"Tell me, how did you get in here?" Darren asked again.

"I just walked in. As you can see, I can enter any world as I wish. I can even get in the one youcreated and the one you inherited.”

This old man had locked up Darren and his two companions for some time now. A moment ago, hehad wanted to make them do some heavy work for him. But when he came to the place where thethree were locked, Darren had been gone. All that was left was a mysterious world that was as smallas a grain of sand. Without second thoughts, he decided to enter it.

Darren could only imagine how powerful the old man was to be able to follow him here.

"Please have a seat, sir."

Trying to calm himself down, he conjured a stone table and chair for the old man to sit down on."If I may ask, what is your name? You see, we made a mistake in killing the spiritual beast of heavenand earth because we thought it was a wild thing. Please be magnanimous and spare us. It was all amisunderstanding,” Darren said, apologetically.

"Humph! My name is none of your business. But the beast, on the other... I can feel my blood boiljust by the mere thought of its death. That beast is my favorite. How dare you send yourcompanions to kill it! You shall be responsible for this crime.” The old man sat down, but his facewas impassive and cold as ice.

Darren was speechless, not daring to speak up to the old man out of fear.

"Young man, why do you have such a corpse? With your strength, you would have been crushed byhis power from kilometers away. I replace it odd that you're able to move this body without breaking."The old man pointed at the floating Shura corpse over their heads.

"To be honest, the corpse has always been in this world ever since I inherited it,” Darren lied.

The old man frowned at that and said, "This ice bed is made out of the magic ice from heaven. Itcan protect a body for millions of years and the body won't even decay; it can even help keep thespiritual soul of the body. It seems like the original owner of this small world is very unusual. Do youknow where he is?"

Darren shook his head wordlessly and then replied, "I was only lucky to get this world, but I nevermet the owner."

"Of course. How can you possibly know anything about the holy emperor when you're just anobody? Well then, I shall take the corpse with me.” The old man's tone held no doubt andhesitation.

"No way, sir!" Panic climbed up to Darren's throat like bitter bile. That corpse was priceless. Hewouldn't let anybody take it away like that.

"What? Will you not give it to me?" The old man gazed blankly at Darren. His face was void of anyemotion. "If you hand the corpse over to me, I'll spare you mercy for killing my dearest spiritualbeat. My offer to you will be giving you an advantage here.”

Darren couldn't come up of anything to say.

Nevertheless, he knew that the old man's condition was indeed in his favor. Otherwise, he would bebeaten up to death, and the corpse would still be taken from him anyway.

"If you say no, I would kill you on the spot, and you won't be able to do anything about it. Sochoose wisely and don't push your luck,” the old man warned as he waited for Darren's decision."Oh, I wouldn't say no to that. You're too kind to spare me. I shall give this corpse to you ascompensation. Thank you so much, sir.” Reluctantly, Darren gave in and uttered those good words."That's more like it." Excitement gleamed in the old man's eyes as he looked at the corpse.

He waved his hand in the air until ancient runes popped out, one after another. The Shura's corpsewas soon covered by them and it shrank into the old man's sleeve.

A look of satisfaction crossed his face after acquiring the corpse.

"Come with me."

"Okay."

With that, Darren activated the force of control and got them out of the Ancient Void Battlefield.The old man followed right behind him.

"Sir, if you don't need anything else, I shall take my leave and take my two ignorant subordinateswith me." Darren looked at the old man, warily. He was afraid that the latter might change his mindand would still want to kill him in the end.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Those words made Darren's heart sink, but the old man onlycontinued, "Can you not stay here for a while?"

"Sir, you are already breaking your words. You promised that you'll let me go, but now you want meto stay,” Darren said, looking miserable.

"Are you saying that you want to leave now?"

"Of course.”

"Then I won't keep you here. You can go.” With that, the old man turned his back to Darren.

"Thank you very much, sir. Now, can you please untie my men?" Darren motioned to his twocompanions.

"What?" Suddenly, the old man whirled around to face him again. The smile on his face wasmocking, and it made the hairs on Darren's arm rise with dread. "Our deal only said that I'll spareyou after you give me the corpse. I never mentioned anything about your companions. They stillhave to pay for their crimes.”

"What?" Hearing this, Darren had the uncontrollable urge to strangle the old man. But then, he onlysighed.

"Very well. My two subordinates have been very incompetent. I give you permission to punish themas you see fit. I, on the other hand, shall go.”

Deep down, Darren had a feeling that the old man was stalling him to make him stay. To test histheory and see the old man's reaction, he pretended to readily give up his companions

"Stop!"

Sure enough, the old man called out to him just as soon he had taken a few steps away.

"What? Is there anything else you want, sir?" Darren pretended to be confused.

"You need to stay with me. There's an ice bed in your little world which will be useful to me. Youmust make yourself useful whenever I need you." The old man had finally revealed his trueintentions.

"Oh, is that all? I can give the ice bed to you, sir, to make it easier." Darren made the offer.

"Bullshit! How can you give it to me? Just stay here with me and do as I say. You'll benefit greatlyfrom it," the old man said.

"Sir, are you trying to force me to stay here? You can't go back on your words now."

"That won't matter. If I get angry, I can always just kill you directly.”

Darren gave a bland smile and said, "I don't dare offend you, sir. But since you ask me to stay, I haveno choice but to obey. Although, I have one small request. If you refuse, I'd rather die than let youuse my ice bed.”

Seeing how the old man was so keen on making him stay, Darren had a feeling that his ice bed wasof great importance to him. But in his eyes, Darren was only a nobody he could kill. The only thingstopping him was the fact that Darren was the only one who could access the ice bed.

"How dare you bargain with me?"

"It's not a bargain, sir. I'm asking for a favor,” Darren corrected.

"All right. Tell me what you want then.” The old man finally conceded to Darren's request.

Darren was thoughtful for a while before saying, "Sir, can you please tell me how powerful yourcultivation base is? If your cultivation base is too low, I shall go look for someone else who isstronger.”

"Humph, how dare you question my cultivation base? Listen to me carefully. No more than tenpeople in this area can stand three moves in a fight against me. Do you understand?" The old manpuffed out his chest, proudly.

"Are you saying that even the giant apes on the shore are not your match?" Darren could feel thethrill creeping up to him.

"Indeed, I can crush those apes to death with just one finger.”

Delighted, Darren reckoned that the old man might be an ancient emperor. Otherwise, he wouldn'tbe as confident as he was now.
