Alexis hugged her family and friends goodbye. She didn’t know how long they would be apart… a few days at least. She was ready for some quiet time. Raine appeared at the last second and she was able to say her goodbyes to her as well. Raine tried to sneak away fairly quickly. Alexis noticed her change of clothes and realized she had other things on her mind and had been interrupted.

“You know… it’s killing me to let you go.” Levi frowned as he watched his daughter by Aken’s side. There was rarely a day that he wasn’t near her. This was a big adjustment. Handing her over to Aken was not something he was mentally prepared for.

“I know.” Alexis walked up to her father and kissed him on the cheek. “I’ll be fine daddy. I’m not a little kid anymore.” She smirked at that.

“Yeah but… you’re still my little girl. You will always be my little girl.” He hugged her tight. “I’ll miss you.” Levi’s voice cracked as he spoke.

“Daddy, I’ll only be gone a few days.” She answered as she gave him a crooked smile.

Levi sighed and looked up at Aken. “Don’t—” He pursed his lips together and shook his head. What was he going to say? Don’t let anything happen to her? He knew Aken would protect her with his life. “Be safe.”

“We will.” Alexis turned on her heels and went to Aken’s side.

Aken nodded his head at Levi, a faint smile on his lips. “I’ll bring her back in a few days so you can see for yourself she is just fine.”

“Lex! You stay by Aken’s side. No wandering around.” Rhea raised her brows at her daughter. She knew what to warn her daughter about because it was something she would have done herself. She listened to her daughter’s giggle and watched her nod her head.

“So can you teleport all of us?” Jasper asked quirking a brow. From the corner of his eyes, he could see his mate. Terra stood near his side looking more comfortable than she did before. It wasn’t an instant physical connection like he expected but there was an emotional one growing. And he felt strangely content just being by her side. It was like all the other stuff was secondary. He was more concerned about her and her needs.

“Unlike the water—” Aken cleared his throat and shrugged innocently at Levi. “Unlike Levi, this is something I can manage with a small group. I mean I could move a whole mountain if I wished.” He chuckled and cheekily winked at Levi. He wrapped his arm around Alexis and pulled her into his chest. He then looked at the other people he was taking with them. Micah had moved to Alexis’ side With Jasper and Terra standing just behind him.

Aken lifted his gaze back to Levi and Rhea. He nodded his head at them before he flashed the group away.

One moment Alexis was staring at her parents and then the next she was looking at stone walls. The walls were pale grey and smooth, they were lined with lights that extended off of the wall. In an instant, the lights all lit up and their soft glow illuminated the room. Now she could see better and not use her night vision.

They were in a large circular room with a series of openings around the area. Alexis craned her neck as she followed the staircase to her side up to the second floor. You could see the banister that circled the entire room. She was also able to make out a few openings but nothing more from above them.

Aken watched Alexis as her eyes wandered over his home. Well, their home now. He wanted her to feel like this was her place too.

“The rooms are all located on the second floor.” Aken motioned over towards the banister. “I’ll show everyone to their rooms. All rooms have an attached bathroom for convenience.” They walked up the stairs and Aken led them down the first opening they came to. It was a long corridor with doors on both sides.

“What about a mini-fridge?” Micah chuckled cheekily and watched Aken turn to look at him with a smile.

“It is funny you should mention that…” Aken’s grin widened as he opened the first door on the right. “This is your room, Micah.”

Micah quirked his brow up as he walked in. His eyes wandered over the large room. In the center was a king size bed with a canopy overhanging. There was an oak dresser and a balcony on the side of the room. And on the other side, there were two more doors and between those doors a mini refrigerator.

“That door is the closet and the other one is the bathroom. And of course, you know what that is. It needs to be stocked. But the pantries and refrigerator downstairs should be fairly full.” Aken watched Micah nod in approval.

“I guess it will do. Who stocks this place?” Micah suddenly asked looking at Aken suspiciously.

“I have servants here that maintain the place. They contract out to the druids who deliver the food here. Don’t worry. They have all undergone thorough investigations.” Aken watched as Micah scowled slightly but nodded his head.

“Druids?” Jasper asked.

Terra scoffed and turned to look at him. “You haven’t heard of druids?”

“I mean I have but don’t they stay secret. I don’t understand why they deliver the food? I thought they like to stay out of sight.” Jasper listened as Terra sighed.

“And what better way to stay undercover than through a delivery service? It is a good disguise.” Terra shrugged her shoulders.

“I’m excited. I haven’t gotten to meet a druid before.” Alexis grinned and watched Terra shake her head.

“Don’t get too excited. They aren’t exactly friendly. They are anti-social and usually keep to themselves. They just want to collect their money and drop off their deliveries. Which works for us…” Terra trailed off quietly as she noticed Jasper’s intense gaze on her.

“Well okay, I think we’re done here. Micah why don’t you get settled into your room.” Aken watched Micah nod his head and he took a step back from the door. He was going to show them their rooms too. He wanted Alexis to stay in his room but oddly was feeling anxious bringing it up to her. What if she said she still wanted space? He just wanted her close… even if it was just holding her all night.

Alexis walked out of the room. She was staring down the hallway as she felt Aken’s arms wrap around her waist. He leaned his head down and kissed her forehead. She looked up at him with a curious smile on her face. “What was that for?”

“I’m just very happy to have you here.” Aken kept his arm on her waist as they walked down the hall. “This is Terra’s room here and the right directly across from it can be Jasper’s room. Please make yourself at home.” He nodded over at Jasper to go ahead and check out his room. “Terra, make sure he has everything he needs in there.”

“Alright, I can do that.” Terra nodded her head as she chewed on her cheek. She wasn’t sure why, but she felt a bit anxious being alone with him even if it was for a few moments.

“We are a bit farther down the hall,” Aken said quietly as he continued to lead Alexis down the long corridor.

Alexis looked around at the walls and the tall ceilings. They passed through another hall where one side had long windows to the outside. She could see the tops of huge trees and saw how it was getting dark outside. She then looked at Aken as he continued to lead her down the hallway.

“You’re pretty isolated out here,” Alexis said thoughtfully as she looked out at the dark forest. There wasn’t another light anywhere showing anyone lived nearby.

“I like my privacy.” Aken shrugged his shoulders as he flashed her a small smile.

“It’s a beautiful home, Aken,” Alexis said as she looked at him.

“Thank you, I built it myself.” Aken smiled.

“What?” Alexis gaped at him and then she realized he wasn’t joking.

“You really did build this place?” She looked around trying to replace the flaws, but she couldn’t replace any. The house was amazing. Though she imagined for a god they would have plenty of time to create something like this. Time wasn’t really a problem for them.

“I did.” He nodded and then chuckled. “Like I said, I like my privacy.” He watched her nod her head understandingly. Aken then slowed down and pursed his lips together. “The double doors ahead are to my room—our room—not implying you have to sleep there tonight. I mean I—” He ran his hand through his hair and then rubbed the back of his neck. “I want you to be comfortable. That is what is most important.”

Alexis gave him a small smile and then reached out to touch his hand. “I know what you meant. I appreciate how thoughtful you are being of me. And if you are most concerned about me being comfortable then you better lead me into your room. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep without you next to me.” She listened to the relieved sigh he let out and she smiled. To think the arrogant Aken was being so considerate of her right now. Not that she expected anything less. But if only others could see this side of him.

“I was really hoping you would say that. Because I don’t think I can sleep without you too…” He interlaced his fingers with hers as he opened the doors and she walked into his bedroom.

Alexis felt her jaw drop open. It was a similar canopy bed like the other room, but it was much bigger. And on the side was a large balcony with a table and a couple of chairs. There were two double doors to the balcony near the bed and she imagined it might be nice to sleep with the doors open and look out at the stars.

“Like it?” Aken asked as he watched her gaze over the room.

“It’s beautiful.” She said as she walked over to the balcony doors. She opened them and walked out leaning on the railing. She could see the forest out there and the dark sky peppered with sparkling lights. The cool night air swirled around her as she listened to the tree frogs chirp their songs. It was beautiful, and she smiled to herself. It was amazing to know Aken built this place. No wonder it was so special to him. She could tell he put a lot of care and pride into this home. And it showed her another side of him.

“There’s a bathroom in the corner.” Aken walked up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. “I thought you might like a bath before bed.” He then moved his lips down her neck. Her soft skin beneath his lips felt like velvet, he kissed each and every inch of it. He felt her body relax into him as she tilted her head to the side allowing him more access to her neck.

“Come my love. I’ll draw you a bath. You deserve to relax… you’ve been through a lot.” Aken murmured into her neck as he gave her one more sweet peck. It took him great restraint to stop himself there. He wanted everything to be perfect. And he wanted Alexis completely relaxed. He wasn’t going to push her about the marking. She would let him know when she was ready.

Because he was ready… whenever she was ready.
