Kapri's P.O.V.

************

"We're here!" Molly shouted.

A second later, all of our friends came into the kitchen. They all paused to take in the scene before them. Sally clinging to Maverick. Maverick holding her like some lover. And me.. crying like a damn idiot.

I've never felt so stupid. I don't even think Maverick cares that I'm crying now too. My friends are probably so confused. What do I even tell them now?

"Kap-" Maverick said as he reached out for me.

With Sally still in his arms! Like really?

I slapped his hand away, and glared at him.

"Don't ever fu.cking touch me again." I seethed.

"What's going on?" Molly asked as she walked further into the kitchen.

"This is all my fault." Sally blubbered as she turned in Maverick's arms. She's still clinging to him though.

"This isn't all your fault, Sally. It's Kapri's too," Maverick said.

My jaw dropped. This fu.cking a.sshole! I'm so damn mad that I could... I could..

I set down all of the items in my arms as Sally blubbered on and on about how 'no, this is my fault'. Like we didn't already know that. I opened the jar of pickles, and turned to the two of them. I climbed onto the stool next to me, and... Poured the entire jar over Maverick and Sally.

There were several gasps in room, Sally's was the loudest. Brooke and Megan snickered. Trevor and Molly just stared at the three of us with their jaws on the floor. Sally stood there stunned, and shaking some of the juice from her body. And Maverick... Well, if I thought he looked pi.ssed off a few minutes ago, I had no idea. He turned to me, his entire body shaking with anger. Good. I hope he stays mad.

"The two of you can shower together now. Since you can't ever seem to be separated anyway," I said.

"What the hell is wrong with you!" Sally shouted.

"Oh you didn't hear?" I asked her before looking at Maverick. "I'm a bitch." I stated.

"This was too far, Kapri," Maverick said.

"Was it?" I asked causally as I set the empty jar down. "I feel like it was a long time coming. Maybe you shouldn't have forced me to be alone with the two of you so much."

"You idiot!" Sally shouted at me. "Don't you know why he was doing that?" She asked.

I narrowed my eyes at Maverick.

"Sally.." Maverick warned.

"He was trying to get the three of us alone together... Duh!" She said.

The three of us alone together? For what? What could he possibly benefit from-

Oh my god..

I stared up at Maverick as realization set in. Maverick wanted to try to sleep with the two of us together? Is that why he lets Sally be all over him in front of me? Does that mean that Sally and Maverick really did plan this whole thing? Did Maverick lie to Brooke because he knew she would tell me?

I scoffed as more tears filled my eyes. I can't even form words right now. I feel absolutely disgusted with Maverick.

I pushed passed them. This time Maverick grabbed my arm, but I snatched it from his grip, and kept going. I looked at our friends who were still standing there, stunned.

"I want to go home." I said, my voice cracking slightly.

"I'll take you," Brooke said.

"Yeah, it smells bad here." Megan added.

"Go get your stuff Kapri," Molly said.

I rushed up the stairs to the bedroom. Thankfully, we've only been here for a couple of hours, so it's not like I have much to pack up. I slumped down to the floor with my back against the bed. I pulled my legs up, and wrapped my arms around them. Then I let it all out. Tears streamed down my face. I tried not to be too loud in case one of my friends was outside the room waiting for me.

I'm so stupid. For liking Maverick. For letting him convince me in the first place to do anything with him. I hate him so much.

I feel so awful. This is the worst feeling ever. I feel like I want to throw up, but I also want to punch things. I feel...

Hopeless.

What did I think would come of this? I should have stopped the moment I started to develop feelings for him. I'm a smart girl. I know better. What was I thinking? With all of this?

Maverick is his own person. He's allowed to be with whoever he wants, whenever he wants. He doesn't owe me anything.

I just... I wanted it to be me. I wanted Maverick to like me. I wanted all of his words about only being with me to be true.

Suddenly, the door opened.

"Kapri, what the fu.ck-" Maverick said angrily, but abruptly stopped.

I should have locked the door. All I could do was hug myself tighter. I don't want to look at him.

"Kap-"

"Just take your stuff, and go." I bit out.

I tried to sound angry, but I'm not sure if it came off that way.

"I'm not going anywhere, and neither are you," Maverick said.

I didn't say anything, or look up at him. As soon as I can get ahold of myself, I'm leaving this place. I'm never going to sleep next to Maverick again. He will never touch me. This stupid one-sided crush is over. Maverick sighed heavily. He sounds closer to me now.

Before I could form another though, Maverick pulled me into his arms. I fell onto his lap as he wrapped his arms tightly around me. I tried to pull away, but he wouldn't let me go.

"Let me go you jerk! I don't want you to touch me! Ever again!" I shouted.

Maverick is way too strong. I'm not getting anywhere. I even started to pinch him, and he still wouldn't let me go.

"I can't," he said softly.

I scoffed. He can't what?

"I can't let you go. I can't." He said.

Something about the way Maverick is talking seems off. Almost like he doesn't mean that he physically can't let me go in this moment. I don't understand it, and it makes me more confused. "I'm sorry Kapri." Maverick said.

"It doesn't matter, Maverick. Just let me go." I demanded.

"For all of it. For taking Sally's side over yours. For what I said about you," he said.

Maverick sounds genuine, but..

"I don't care. Let me go." I said.

Maverick only squeezed me to him tighter. Like he's too afraid that I'll escape him. Why does he even care so much?

"She was lying." He said softly.

"Huh?" I asked as I continued to struggle.

"I was so stunned that I didn't know what to say, but.. It was a lie. I don't know why she said it. Probably because you dumped a jar of pickles on us." He said.

I stopped struggling as I listened to Maverick.

"I would never share you. Not with another girl. Not with another guy. Never." He said.

"And I'm just supposed to believe that Sally was lying?" I scoffed.

I mean, it is Sally we're talking about.

"Use that big brain of yours, nerd. How could I even fathom sharing you? You see how possessive I am with you. Think about all the times I stole you away from Josh. How pi.ssed off I was at Hayden. How could I ever share you?" He said. Maverick has a point, but..

"This is different," I said softly. "First of all, it's a girl. It's.. Sally."

"How many times do I have to tell you that I have no feelings for her?" He asked.

"Until you prove it," I said.

"Kapri," Maverick sighed out frustratedly.

"Think about it from my side, Mav. You say one thing, but you let her be all over you. No matter how many times I've said it was an issue. It didn't stop her. You didn't stop her," I said.

I buried my face in him more as I remembered the way he was with her downstairs.

"Comforting her came so natural to you.. Having her all over you comes so naturally to you.. I just... don't understand where I fit in all of this." I admitted.

"You're right." Maverick said, shocking me. "No matter how many times I tell Sally, she never keeps her hands to herself. I never push her away. I don't stop her. I don't even say anything," he said. Is this supposed to be making me feel better?

"Sally is my friend. I care about her. I know things about her that she can't tell anyone else. That makes our relationship... deeper I guess. That doesn't mean I want her romantically." He said. "But she wants you," I added.

Maverick sighed.

"What do you want from me, Kapri?" He asked.

"To let me go so that I can leave," I said.

"I let you go a few minutes ago, baby. You're clinging to me now," he said.

Okay, but did he have to say it?

"I'll make more of an effort to push Sally away. You're right, she doesn't need to be all over me. I need to be more vocal," Maverick said.

"You don't have to, Maverick," I replied.

"I would do anything to make you happy, Kapri. I've been doing such a sh,itty job lately. You have no idea how... different this is for me. But I'm trying. I really am. So don't go. Stay. Stay here with me. Let me make it up to you." he said. Make it up to me, yeah right.

"I want to prove to you that you're the only one I want," Maverick said.

I pulled away to look into Maverick's honey brown eyes. He wants to prove things to me. He came after me. Again.

What does all of that mean? Does Maverick... feel the same way about me? Did he develop feelings for me too?

Suddenly, someone started banging on the bedroom door.

"Hey," Brooke said through the door. "Trevor's ordering pizza. You two should come out. Kapri could use a break, Maverick."
