He then headed to another room.

After sharing this, I issued a stern ultimatum to Carlos.

I was just about to assure Andrew not to bother, and that I’d be heading home soon, but before I could finish, Caleb’s deep voice came through the phone.

“What room service?”

When Andrew and I heard Caleb’s voice, we were both taken aback.

I reacted first, smiling awkwardly.

“Caleb, are you with Carlos?”

“Which hotel?” he demanded sharply.

Overwhelmed with a sense of unwarranted guilt, I revealed the name of the hotel.

Caleb, clearly incensed, ended the call abruptly.

Andrew gave a rueful smile and apologized, “Sorry, it looks Like I’ve put you in a difficult spot again.

I waved it off, trying to appear calm, “Don’t worry about it.

Caleb can be a bit possessive, but he’s reasonable.

After a while, the doorbell interrupted our awkward silence.

I rushed to the door and swung it open to replace Caleb, impeccably dressed in a new tailored suit and styled hair, a stark contrast to his earlier appearance.
