The Alpha & Beta's Regret
The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 141

Luci POV

She was walking the boys to the packhouse so that they could have dinner with their fathers. She had no choice but to do it herself, her mother was not here and they walked due to having no car. She was watching the storm clouds roll in and could hear the low rolls of thunder, and she was hoping it wouldn’t rain on their way there.

Luci didn’t mind walking in the rain herself, quite liked it actually, as did both boys; part of their Siren genes, she thought. But she didn’t want the boys to be soaking wet when they arrived, Luci didn’t know if Rafe and Jack had clothes for the boys within the packhouse. She doubted it though.

Considering it had only been a few days and they, like herself, were dealing with a lot. She was still dealing with the fact that they did not have Mates anymore, that they had rejected and banished those two for their attack on the boys. They’d just given up their Mates over it; she didn’t know many that would do that. Punish a Mate yes, but actively give one up? Most could sit and work things out.

Luci sighed internally as it not only started to rain when they were about halfway to the packhouse, but that rain; it fell in a deluge. She was completely soaked through in a matter of a few seconds, as were the boys.

She looked at the boys and just smiled. Well, it was too late now so they might as well have some fun. “Run boys.”

“Race mamma?” They both stated together, a big grin on both their faces. They really did like a challenge, it seemed

She laughed at them and their itch to know if Astral and Spark were faster than everyone; it was likely the Alpha in them wanting to be fastest, they were going to grow up also wanting to be the strongest as well, and she knew it already.

“Go.” She yelled out over the rain. And the three of them all raced off in the rain for the packhouse.

Laughed as she,

Kali and Alari were suddenly in a full Alpha sprint for the packhouse against their own boys, Siren Wolves. They could keep up with them, used all their speed to do so, managed to level peg them, all the way to the packhouse.

She could see the doors both stood open and the three of them shot through the front doors at full wolfen speed.

She’d managed to pip them at the last second, barely so and was still laughing as she tried to come to a stop. But with wet and muddied shoes, she didn’t really have any grip and slid across the polished concrete floor in the foyer.

She had to windmill her arms to keep her balance, it didn’t really much help and she fell right on to her a*s in the end, about halfway across the foyer.

Luci looked at the boys who also had trouble stopping like she did, and then they were sliding right into her, and all three of them were on the floor laughing as the boys slid into her. She laughed at them and they were laughing up at her “Again, again.” Had come from them, they had enjoyed their race.

“Nope, I won.” She grinned down at them.

Saw little Jack pout “No fair.”

“Your bigger, got longer legs.” Little Rafe huffed “We go again.”

Luci poked the two of them in their bellies, “You two are poor losers, I see.” Watched them both pout right up at her and smiled “I’m not going to just let you win, you have to really work for it. Kali, Alari and I are just faster.” She teased them with a chuckle.

Got herself up off the floor and helped them up, looked at the state of them of herself for that matter. So much for clean and dry coming to dinner. Both the boys were soaked through, as was she, and they all had mud-covered legs and caked shoes.

Looked at the muddied trail they’d all left on their slide into the packhouse, it went halfway across the foyer, was going to have to replace something to clean that up. But at least she wasn’t doing anything else right this minute. Blinked a little in surprise at seeing both Alpha Rafe and Beta Jack standing just near the open front doors, she and the boys must have nearly bowled them over on their way through the front door. Likely had stepped out of their way.

They were both smiling though and didn’t seem to mind that they’d left a mud trail across their normally clean and high polished floor. “My apologies.” She indicated to the foor and then the state of the boys “They might need a change of clothes.”

“We can sort that out.” Rafe nodded, heard him chuckle softly, he didn’t seem to care too much about the mud.

“Luci, would you please stay for dinner?” Jack asked her.

She stared at him for only a moment and then just shook her head.

. “No”

“I would really like you too.” He stated and walked towards her “Please.”

“I’ve got plans of my own for dinner.” She told him and saw him stop walking and just stare right at her. He looked completely shocked, “Just drop them off, when dinner is over” She told him, and gave both boys a bit of a nudge towards him. “You might want to drive them home unless you end up soaking wet and covered in mud, be good boys.

” She told them and saw them both smile up at her, before going over to their fathers.

Luci herself turned and headed off towards the mud room, to grab clean dry clothes for herself. She didn’t have plans at all but did not want to sit down in a room alone with them to have a very uncomfortable dinner. They might be okay with it, but she would be uncomfortable, as would Kali.

They all had to get used to this, their new dynamic of being parents but not being together at the same time. She didn’t really think those two had thought much about that, kind of thought they just expected things would be how they used to be. But how could they?

It did seem to her that Jack thought everything would just go back to normal, now that he was not Mated, but really what had changed, nothing for her. She couldn’t go back to being between them, just because she was the mother of their children. No, it would in all likelihood kill her, to live that life. Attached to them as she was

She did understand something else was going on, that those two she-wolves outside had done something to both Rafe and Jack. But, really nothing had changed for her.

She was not their Mate and they would eventually come across their Goddess Gifted and shed once again be left by them. So no, she was not going to put herself through that

She already had enough to deal with, what shed stupidly done to herself and would not become their lover once more only to be abandoned by them yet again at some point later on, down the line. Which she did know would happen. There was only one thing that would put her between them again, and she highly doubted they were going to ask that of her. Luci shook that thought off, it was her dream, not theirs, to be their Mate, to have them choose her.

She already even knew how it would feel to have them leave her, had suffered it once before, and did not want to feel that moment ever again. She also didn’t need the boys feeling that kind of pain coming off of her. It might not go down so well with them, she also had no idea how they would react to their fathers leaving her in the future. To be with their Goddess Gifted Mates.

They might well react like a true Siren and turn on their own fathers, for the pain she would feel in that moment.

Luci doubted very much that Rafe and Jack had thought about that consequence. So no, it was just best for her to not be anything more than the mother of their sons. Would be best for everyone, even if those two had yet to figure that out.

She was about to push into the mud room when she recalled that Jack had told her she still had a room upstairs, had told her she always would have. Turned after only a moment’s thought and headed up the omega stairs for the Alpha floor, she didn’t want to track mud through the main part of the packhouse. If she still had a room here, then all her old clothes should be up there as well.

She would go up and change into something that was actually hers, she may be taller, but would have shorts and dresses that would still fit in all likelihood. Long pants would be too short but everything else should still fit.

She could also take the time while the boys were at dinner to pack her things up and move her stuff out of the packhouse, take it all back to her new home. She could tell Rafe and Jack shed cleared out her old room, and they could stop calling it her room. Allocate it to another.

Luci strolled down the long hallway to her room, pushed on the door as she turned the handle and was a little surprised to see it wasn’t locked, but was glad that it was open, didn’t have to ask anyone to come and open it for her.

She closed the door and turned the light on as she looked around the room. She hadn’t been in here in a very long time, the furniture was all the same. They had changed nothing in here. Luci frowned at the snack cart over on the far wall that hadn’t been there, turned and stopped and stared at the writing on the wall to her right, frowned that had definitely not been there before, stepped over to it to get a closer look and read what was up there.

She stopped and just stared at it, at all the notes written in both Jack and Rafes’ own hand, shed not understood what had been going on here inside this pack. Read that wall and frowned, nothing at all, it seemed. She could also feel both Alari and Kali now reading everything.

They felt nothing at all on the inside as they came to understand what all this was,

, they just stood there

uncomprehending. It was not just herself who was taking in all the knowledge that was written on the walls before them. The knowledge of Rafe and Jack being tricked into being Mated, but that it wasn’t even a real Mate Bond and that no actual Marking and Mating had ever happened.

That it was some sort of witchcraft that had been used to make them think that. Make everyone think that.

She felt her vision go all blurry and then there was heat building behind her eyes, everything in the room was vibrating. Well, she didn’t so much as feel that, perhaps there was just something wrong with her eyesight. She couldn’t really tell. Didn’t know what it was, only knew that it was no longer just her looking at all that was written there on the walls.

Knew that it was Kali and Alari as well, it was a really weird thing to feel, but she knew all three of them were somehow on the surface all at the same time, didn’t exactly know how it was happening, but they all equally held control of her body right this very minute, as they all tried to take in and absorb the new information.

As they all looked at the words 1 love Luci, Flare loves Kali: in Jacks’ own handwriting. Then there in Rafes’ handwriting was that they had been going to tell her they loved her, wanted her for their Mate, when and where even. it was all laid out before her, they had been going to ask her to be their Mate years ago. Those two she-wolves downstairs had ruined her life. Ruined Kali’s life. Ruined the boys’ lives, ruined Rafe and Jacks’ lives even.
