The Alpha & Beta's Regret
The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 159

Victor POV

Victor woke up still laying out in the woods of his pack, right where Silla had taken him down, using his own bloody tranquilliser gun on him. Bane had healed him up but it had taken too bloody long. And not only did they not know where Zoe was, Silla was attacking and killing his warriors as she stood and defended those that she and Addison had freed from him.

By the time he’d gotten to the area, after retrieving his hearing protection and a tranquilliser gun from his office safe and made his way through his pack, he knew where she was from the reports flooding in, and the constant severing of his pack members. Tracked her easily from the trail of dead bodies she was leaving behind her.

His warriors were dropping like bloody flies and there was nothing he could do about it, Siren’s were deadly and it took nothing out of them to use that call, it was just a simple breath in, to release it again. It’s why they were so damned deadly, unstoppable killing machines unless you knew how to deal with them. Had hearing protection against that call of theirs.

She’d been much quicker on her feet than hed seen before, moved in her human form nearly as fast as he did, pinning her down had not been an option, and he’d tried to close altempt.

his men in on her. Lost even more to her in that

Calling out to her did nothing, she’d simply smiled at him and shaken her head at him, “Vic Vic you lied to me.” She called right back. She seemed happy to him even with all that was going on around her, her need to defend herself from not only his wolves but himself.

To his surprise, she’d not shot her call at him, had simply dodged him and then he’d become the hunted, she’d gotten out of the way of two darts and the third, which nearly bloody had her had exploded about a foot from her, used that call on it. Then she was on him and her Siren was damned strong and had wickedly long claws and hed taken a few hits from it in their struggle as she held him down.

Then she had twisted that gun from his hand and turned that tranquilliser gun on him and just pulled the trigger without a single hesitation. Had smiled at him the whole time she was hunkered down on the ground and watched it take effect, had chuckled at him and tapped his nose ” naughty Vic Vic, I’m going to live with Mother and sister now.” That had been the last thing hed heard or seen her beautiful smiling face down at him.

He was exactly where she had left him, looked around at the dead bodies, g*****d at the headache he felt, a residual effect of the sedation drug. Pushed himself to his feet and searched all the way to the boarder. There were fewer dead bodies out there, and he knew why. His men were not dying for him when he was out cold. He tracked those prints and there were many, adult and children. This was her helping those women take his children from him.

They were headed east. That annoyed him more than anything. He had lost their foot prints at Snake River and he just knew Silla had taken them all across to the other side, snarled angrily at the river itself.

Silla knew where Sloan was. The woman had mentioned it once, told her she should come and visit. They were on a lake. Victor was betting on her taking all his women and children right to the one other person she loved and trusted, a f*****g Kitsune attached to the bloody Wolfen Council.

Not something he could go and attack. He looked at his watch; shed likely have them all there by now. He’d been out 10 bloody hours.

It was too late to pull a team together and go and hunt them. They had probably been moving at full speed to put as much distance between him and them. 6 hours by car, but in a straight line those half breeds could likely get there quicker even with mountains and other packs between here and there on the way.

It wasn’t a small group of women and 12 of them 11, if Zoe wasn’t with them and that freedom they had been given, would give them all the will to fight anything in their path, not to mention they would be protecting each other and those children they’d not laid eyes on since birth.

Returned to his pack and did a head count of the dead, over a hundred just by Silla alone, though he got a report that she had merrily skipped on back through his pack, still carrying that gun, that his own wolves had just backed away from her and let her pass. They knew she was the enemy now but couldn’t take her on, not even in mass numbers

He’d gone off and seen the destruction Addison herself had wreaked on his pack, to the north of the packhouse, headed back to the Black Forest no doubt. Silla had cut through his pack heading north, likely to meet up with Addison somewhere. Addison was going to pay. He was waking everyone up and making them report to him as he surveyed the bloody damage, heard from his other northern patrollers that Addison had simply leaned up against a tree and waited for Silla to come and they’d left together.

He knew Rhyse had run right for that open section of his border as well and he was now damned certain Zoe and Lidia had left via it as well. He’d checked the bloody roster and yes, that was where Lidia had been stationed last night. Just knew that Zoe had used Rhyse to get around that order on her mother. That was why Rhyse had taken to Dane, to get Victor’s attention to distract him from going down to the basement and he’d bloody fallen for it. That bloody half-breed had risked her own life to help them escape, she had been in on it and he knew it.

Hate him and this pack, had been looking for a way out and Addison, it seemed, had provided it. He’d stalked up to the Beta Suite where she still resided and looked around and there on the door to her bedroom was the proof of her treachery, a sheet of paper and on it was written:

f**k you, Victor.

If I die tonight, I’II die laughing.

Knowing I helped you lose everything.’

That b***h had helped Addison take everything from him, not just his Siren but his children as well, just to make her own escape from him and his pack. Roared in anger and then just tore that suite apart in a full fury. If he ever saw her again, he was going to kill her.

He’d lost a quarter of his warriors last night, and knew now that Addison had unleashed her witchcraft upon his warriors, their bodies were burnt and seared in places, though not everything had been burned out there tonight.

He’d assessed the burnt trees and shrubs, thought about it after he’d calmed down, gone and taken another look and realised the fire had not actually spread throughout the pack like it should have. Questioned his wolves that had witnessed it and the fire had been white.

Witch’s fire, not real fire but still as deadly as the real thing, only burned exactly what it touched, so that accounted for some trees burned to nothing and shrubs here and there, but nothing else at all. Witch’s fire didn’t spread like real fire. That was a blessing on his part.

Because from what he saw. If it had, his whole bloody pack would have burned down, he could see where she’d stood and sent it out in all directions, wondered if she knew it wouldn’t set fire to his pack like a real fire.

He had left his pack upon hearing reports that a fight had broken out in rogue territory not long after she and Silla had left the pack, that it had lit up the area many times, very bright with white light. Had gone off to investigate while his pack members were picking themselves up and gathering bodies to be disposed of.

What he found and assessed from the tracks on the ground, two together both barefoot and small, likely Addison and Silla, and the damage much like his own pack, trees and shrubs touched by Witch’s fire, they had been defending themselves, and against either many or one on the move. Who or what he didn’t know.

But he did see their tracks move off again and, not in a hurry, they had not run from this battle, those two had likely beaten who or what it had been, though he did not see any bodies anywhere, or smell b***d from injury either. He found no running footsteps or tracks from an enemy attacking them either. That was the oddest part of all of this.

He’d never seen Addison display her witchcraft, she was likely a fully realised elemental witch of some sort, and standing next to a fully fledged Siren who now thought of her as her mother, a deadly combination. Returned to his pack and started making calls to his allies. He did need them now, and was expecting war on his doorstep within one or two days. Wondered if he could take war to them, use his allies as fodder, he would have to wait and see how many would come to his aid. He just knew in his gut that Zoe, Lidia and Rhyse had all gone north for a reason. Were going to meet up with Addison and Silla, she was going to take them with her back to those two pricks.

He didn’t lie to his allied packs, told them an enemy witch had come in an attack his pack last night, stole his daughter Silla, along with his Goddess Gifted Mate, Zoe, had killed his Gamma and a quarter of his warriors.

Many were completely shocked about him having a Goddess Gifted, had simply stated “It was new, I love her, my wolf and I want her back, need your assistance in getting her back.” Told them it was Rafe and Jack, their witches, that they were up against and asked for all they had to help him go in and retrieve what was his.

Gave them the night to think about it, told them that they could come and see the destruction for themselves that had been wrought in his pack. He now just had to wait and see, though he was annoyed that several stated they were away from their pack but would see about sending warriors without them. He was curious about why they weren’t in their packs and had checked those against Nightfall and all of them were affiliated with Nightfall

Nearly snarled out loud at the thought that they were down there in Nightfall shoring up Orien, waiting for Victor to come and attack him. Not so loyal to him after all. They were all smaller packs, ones he could go in and attack and take over for himself. One’s just like Nightfall. If they all joined forces right that minute, their numbers would be greater than his. He knew how many they sent to assist.

Did the math 500 warriors down there in Nightfall.

Sent a man to check it out. When his two contacts in Nightfall didn’t pick up, he knew right then Orien had pulled his allies to him, but not before either killing any wolves from Victor’s home pack or disabling them with silver. That they were likely in the cells right this minute, that man wasn’t taking any chances, it seemed. It was only a quick two-hour trip there. He’d know before the night was over what was going on.

He’d taken himself out there to his abandoned pack to collect his rogues, after that, to bring more forces in, only to replace it was empty. Returned to his pack more than angry and put a call into the Wolfen Council. Got put on hold and transferred to Alpha Patrick, only to be told by him that yes, they had moved the rogues

Victor had snapped at that man, “I would have absorbed them into this pack.”

“We know,” had come the simple reply “But they are all unmated males and we have a 70% unmated female pack that could benefit from them. It was decided that it’s better for the males to go there. So moved them this morning. We did call you, Victor, to let you know of our decision. You never picked up.”

He’d snarled at the man “I was in the middle of dealing with fallout from a war in my pack last night.”

“Oh, sorry to hear that.” Had been the comment “Perhaps Victor, you should have someone in the office, to man your phones. That would be prudent now, wouldn’t it?”

“Like I bloody had time to organise that, the war was unexpected.” He’d snarled.

“Well, now if you had Luna, she’d likely have picked up.”

“I had a Luna. She got stolen last night, during the bloody war” Hed roared angrily at the man, had lost his temper.

Both he and Bane, because of the man’s uncaring attitude, no longer cared that he was a council member. Had slammed the phone down and upturned his desk in his rage.

How could one b***d she-wolf turn his life upside down and inside out like this, in a freaking day?
