The Alpha & Beta's Regret
The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 162

Jack POV

Spending the morning with Rafe, Luci and the boys, he found himself unable to stop smiling, was really happy, didn’t recall ever being this happy. His and Rafe’s parents had found them in short order after the announcement about the leadership of the pack; he being an Alpha now and Luci the Luna.

All of them had gotten hugged by all of their parents. His own father had stood and smiled at him, proudly, then had stated “My son, an Alpha.” Had yanked him right in for a tight hug,

“I’m so proud of you Jacki boy.” Then looking right at him had said “But now who’s going to be the Beta?

” had kind of been hinting Jack thought that he would step right back into his old roll.

“I will hold two roles till we make that decision.” Jack had smiled at him, the way they ran the pack wasn’t likely going to change at all. He’d always been considered the same as Rafe, and pulled the same duties as well as the Beta one.

He was used to it and didn’t see it really changing.

It was really nice to see their pack just accept Luci right into the role of their Luna. The role she should have taken all those years ago. He’d seen some address her formally as Luna and others bow their heads as a mark of respect but call her Luci. He didn’t mind, because neither did she.

Most of their pack called them by their first names, A few insisted on using rank but they didn’t insist on it as long as their tone was respectful. It was all good

He’d seen her get hugged by half a dozen she wolves and realised they were some of the women shed known and been friends with here, hung out with all the time. Though they were not trying to intrude on their family moment, they just wanted to see her and greet her as their Luna.

Found himself just watching her, it warmed his heart every time he saw her smile and talk to their pack members. She would be back to normal in no time at all. With all her pain and them marked and loved up, she was going to be okay.

Her broken heart was healing well.

He himself got called Alpha Jack many times as well, smiled at his new title. Though for him nothing really changed, he would run the pack with Rafe like always. But it was really nice to hear. He heard many chuckles as they walked about, their wolves half whispering to each other ” About time those two got it on.”

Though the mind-link he’d gotten from Petra as she’d walked passed had been full of amusement ‘Now, Jack.

You’re in for some real fun, do you want some reading or watching material?’ Heard that woman giggle like a school girl at her own comment.

We’ll figure it out. Jack had replied simply, though his tone had also been full of amusement. He knew that he and Rafe would have many things to explore being mated to each other. Also knew Luci and her beasts were likely to incite it and then lay back and watch them, much as she had done yesterday.

He knew they’d only touched on all the things that they could do to each other. His eyes moved to Rafe as he sat chatting to Addi and his parents. Smiled right at him, he was a handsome devil and Jack could lay hands on him as often as he liked. Hmm, he could do a bit of research, he supposed, to torment that man.

Found Rafe’s eyes right on him and saw a smile touch his face, but he said nothing, the boys were right there with him as well. But it was clear that Rafe still knew what Jack was thinking about. Nothing had changed on that front.

Flare and Solar had yet to go off and Mate Kali, in Wolfen form, likely would happen on the full moon, which was just two days away. He understood it had been all of them last night, and now they were all connected to each other. Flare could speak to Solar, Kali and Alari any time he liked, and was always growling at Alari, which actually made her Siren chuckle. He had told her he was going to have her just the two of them.

None of them interrupted their beasts all communicating with each other and it was weird to have his mind so full all the time. It must be how Luci always felt, she didn’t seem at all affected by two more inside her mind talking to her beasts. Though when they were all chatting he kind of felt his head throb a little. Would take some getting used to, he supposed.

They were all just lazing about in the packhouse foyer on the lounge chairs, with their family around them. Allen was with Hannah and her sisters, though he’d congratulated them all via the mind-link, he wasn’t ready to leave Hannah.

He’d apologised to Luci being her Gamma and all. Shed told him she was sorry Hannah had gotten injured and Jack felt sorrow in her. They’d been informed by Giannah, what had happened out in Wolf Valley, that Luci had unwittingly hit Hannah with her Siren Call when letting loose on the pack. It was that moment that had brought her back to herself, seeing that she had hurt someone she liked and trusted, had stopped her anger. Shed not meant to do it and they knew it, held no grudge against her for it.

Rafe had taken one call and had returned to state Alpha Austin of the Wolfen Council was coming today along with Alpha Sloan to talk to those he’d accepted from the Bloodless Moon. Wanted in fact specifically to speak to Zoe, but would also take statements from Lidia and Rhyse as well.

All of those women were sitting around in the foyer just being free for the first time in years to do as they pleased.

He did have concerns about Zoe being here, after hearing she was Victor.s rejected Mate, but he’d never let her go, locked her up and kept her within his pack all those years.

Since she was 18, it could be an issue that man was obviously still possessive of her, regardless shed not wanted to be with him.

Silla was of no threat to them; she was bonded to Addi and hed heard Alari had accepted her as well after a few minutes of hesitation when replaceing out where she came from. But she kept saying the word family, she was here for good. That much was a given.

Rhyse, he knew wasn’t a full wolf, didn’t smell like one. He’d been told was half wolf, mostly a cougar. But she was obviously used to being inside a wolf pack, and didn’t seem afraid of anyone here. Though she also didn’t interact with anyone, just sat quietly and stared out the window, didn’t speak much at all.

She had trauma and he knew it, all the signs were there. He could also see the multiple bite marks on the poor creature. He had not asked how she got them, didn’t think he needed to. He knew who’s mate she had been. Guessed she didn’t much want to be that man’s Mate and had likely tried to escape him on many occasions only to be hunted and forced back to him.

Bradley and Piper were all smiles, whatever had been going on before was apparently all fixed and sorted out. He had not yet found out what it was, and didn’t think Bradley was going to tell them either. Piper had always been a closed subject though they had announced they were having a little girl in about 2 months’ time.

Jo-anne had smiled right at him and Rafe, looked relieved actually to see that things had been all sorted out. Then had just walked over to Luci and hugged her, a long hug that neither seemed uncomfortable with, and when she pulled away shed smiled and Jo-anne had stated “I’m sorry about claiming you into my coven.”

His eyes had widened, as had Rafe’s. They’d not known about that.

“I guess you know him too.” Was all Luci had said.

“Yes, an evil man, he’ll likely stay away, knowing I’ve brought you in.” he’d watched her turn and look right at Addison “I might want to go claim your mother as well.”

“It’s probably a good idea,” Luci had nodded “I got the impression he had come for me. Likely would want mother as well now he knows about us.”

“Yes,” Jo-anne had stated and then walked off to talk with Addison.

“Luci?” he and Rafe asked. Both had waited for the conversation to end but wanted to know what was going on.

“Not that. My mother’s father appeared.” She sank down ” though we were fully ticked off and threatened to kill him.

Jo-anne,” her eyes moved to the woman, “He’s afraid of her I think, she wanted to…play with him.”

“Play with him?” he asked.

“Mm, I don’t think it was in a nice way, fear rolled off him and he blipped himself away so fast it wasn’t funny.”

Jo-anne it seemed, wasn’t just a witch, if the former king’s warlock was afraid of her. There was more to her than meets the eye. Could well be the very reason she stayed inside her pack all the time.

He didn’t want to leave Luci and the boys to go and greet Alpha Austin and Alpha Sloan, but didn’t have a choice in the matter. Kissed her softly and murmured “‘ll miss you.” only to have her shake her head at him. He wasn’t at all ready to be away from her, not even if it was only their front gate. It was still closed to all and he or Rafe had to sight the person at the gate before letting them in to make sure they were who they said they were.

Rafe insisted Jack go. It was his first real official meet and greet, as the Alpha of this pack, to a visiting Alpha, had smiled at him and stated, “You’re the Alpha now Jacki boy.

You have to go.” Once he could just let Rafe go by himself, seems not anymore.

Rafe had chuckled at Jack’s annoyed look, then he had kissed Luci himself, and growled at her all softly, heard her giggle and watched her blush a moment later. Rafe had told her what he was going to do to her later. Jack knew what it was and yes, they were going to do that, take it in turns to do that.

It wasn’t just Alpha Austin and Alpha Sloan at the front gate requesting permission to come in, but also to his complete surprise, Alpha Conner and Luna Eliza, with their daughter as well. Surprised him but not Rafe, he already knew but had kept that from Jack.

Saw Conner and El both frown at them for a moment, then El just state “A lot has happened in the past few days, I see.

“Yes, got yourselves a new Mate, one for the two of you.” Conner nodded, looking at their filigree. “Alpha Jack.” Hed smiled right at him.

“Yes.” Both he and Rafe nodded. Rafe explained it to them briefly and saw both Conner and El frown along with Alpha Austin himself.

“Ah, finally the light is shed.” He heard Sloan state and looked at her questioningly “I know your witches.” She said simply.

He and Rafe escorted them through the pack and into the packhouse. Done the introductions to Luci and both their visiting allies, and watched as both Sloan and El’s heads had tilted at meeting Luci “Alpha, Luna.” They had both stated when addressing her.

He’d looked at Luci and supposed that was actually correct, she was a pure blooded Alpha and their Luna, though shed expressed not wanting to be an Alpha to their pack, he did understand that was only Luci and Kali. Alari was all Alpha Siren, so she held duel rank. Kind of like it, he realised, smiled to himself at the thought of it, turned him on more than a little.

‘Mind your thoughts Jack.’ Rafe’s voice had come down the mind-link at him, and he’d chuckled softly, that was unlikely to happen for a very long time.

Watched on as both the boys came over to El, smiled up at her as he heard Silla call out “Sloan.” All excitedly and run over to hug her, it was like a big reunion, he thought absently.

“Can we see the baby?” both boys were tugging on El’s dress, she was carrying the baby in a capsule.

He watched her smile down at them and then put the baby capsule down on the ground and slide the hood of it back.

“This is my daughter Jewel.” She told them and both boys peered at the tiny little girl barely days old. She was sleeping soundly.

“Pretty baby.” He heard them both whisper.

Chuckled softly at them, he could see they wanted to touch her little head, but also that they didn’t want to wake her either. She was a tiny baby too. Small for an Alpha pup or Kit?

They showed everyone up to the first floor so they could settle in, and found the twins trailing El. She smiled down at them. “They’re adorable” She smiled as she looked at him and Rafe. “Like babies, I see.”

“Like children in general.” He smiled right back at her.

Both boys pouted up at him as he and Rafe walked them away, saw Austin to a suite fit for a council member and was a little surprised to hear Sloan state “I’ll bunk in with Austin.” And then just stroll into the mans suite.

He didn’t miss the smirk on Austin’s face, it was brief, but there. Before he turned back to them, all Alpha once more ” I’ll want to talk with Rhyse first. That creature has suffered a lot from the look at her, 15 minutes, I’ll use your office.” then he was gone into his suite.

Jack and Rafe walked away, Wolfen Council members could do as they pleased in most packs. It wasn’t uncommon for them to use an Alpha’s office to do business from. “I guess they really know each other, he commented.

“Hm, she does work for the council, so it’s likely,” Rafe nodded.

“Though it could just be two free and unmarked, Alpha’s out to enjoy each others company.”

“It’s likely that,” Rafe nodded “Nothing unusual about that, I suppose, they might well have known each other for many years.”

“Baby, daddies?” Little Rafe asked.

Leave her to sleep. She’s only a few days old, born on Sunday. I’m sure if you’re well behaved, Luna Eliza and Alpha Conner will let you say hello when she’s awake.

They were smiling again now, then just ran off yelling for their mamma.

“They are going to like having brothers and sisters.” Jack chuckled

“Seems that way,” Rafe agreed,

, “it would be nice to have a

little girl.”

“No, girls.” Jack muttered instantly and Rafe stared at him with a raised eyebrow.

“Why not?”

“Look at Luci, at Addison. Think about trying to keep the boys off our little girl when she grows up. She’ll have Siren genes as well. Goddess Rafe, Luci didn’t last more than 12 hours inside this pack without us touching her.”

Rafe burst out laughing “Not even close to that 8 if she was lucky.” He clapped Jack on the back “I still want a little girl, she’ll be just like Luci.”

Jack shook his head. “I might just turn into Orien, laying down rules to this pack all over the place to keep boys off of her.”

“Go ahead and try, you’ll be the one sleeping in the dog house. I’ll get to have Luci all to myself.”

Jack turned and stared at him, whacked him one as he trotted off down the stairs, didn’t even seem bothered by the thought of so many boys wanting to touch their daughter if they had one in the future. Sighed and followed him at a slower pace, sometimes nothing phased that an at all.
