The Alpha & Beta's Regret
The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 23

Victor POV

He’d been sitting just beyond the edge of the woods with his Alpha Unit, all their scents were completely masked, they were watching for any sign of Luci in her Siren form or wolf form, hell human would do. He now knew that she had both shifter creatures and that was more than exciting him. He was itching ten times more to get his hands on her.

They were all armed with a handheld tranquilliser gun, and they were all wearing protective hearing devices in their ears. In case that Siren spotted them and tried to deal with them before they knew she was there.

No such luck at this point, though if Addison had yet to get her to surface, it could take a while. He and his men were likely in for the long haul. He would wait, had waited years now. What were a few more days? Nothing is what. Not when he could practically taste his victory; it was finally within his grasp.

Had to back his men away and retreat to the human world or risk getting caught when both Rafe and Jack showed up at the water’s edge, just inside the pack’s borders. Addison was with them. If he could see them clearly with his Alpha sight, then they could see him and his men in return. If they were looking for him, that was, which was now entirely possible, seeing as they now knew it was, he who had attacked them. Luci’s siren having force shifted him, that b***h of a thing had outed him to them, seeing as he’d not know about her, if he had he would have worn his protective gear.

Victor knew that Addison was going to try and call Luci out, but it was not likely to work. That might be her mother, but her Siren would not have a connection to her, seeing as she wasn’t around when it emerged. No bond yet established with the woman.

It was highly likely that the Siren part of Luci wasn’t connected to any of them at all. Had likely only helped out due to Luci and Kali’s need to save those two pricks, she had always liked them. Victor walked back to his car with his unit and headed into the human town. They could all do with a good feed and some sleep, they had all been up all night in their effort to get here.

That Siren would be more likely to emerge of a night-time. He knew all about Sirens. What they were like, what their weaknesses were, not many, what their strengths were, how to defend himself against one, that was the most important thing to him. Not only read about them, he had one in his pack to actually study himself.

Had picked Silla up when she was just a wee baby from the otherworldly black market, he knew who ran it, just let them. Had use of the market more often than not. And he was willing to pay top dollar for things he wanted. Kept their secret even from the wolfen council themselves, so he could get updates about where it was and when to be there. It wasn’t open every day and it moved about pretty much all the time.

The four of them sat in one of the local cafes that was open for breakfast, and he watched as the town’s folk became active. Humans going about their day to day lives, completely unaware of all that went on around them all the time. Solely preoccupied with their own lives, that just about all otherworldly things got blipped over as nonsense.

Their tiny human lives couldn’t comprehend otherworldly creatures, and so they were blinded to them. Seventy-five percent of their race didn’t believe in otherworldly creatures, fifteen percent did or wanted to believe, and ten percent were diehard fans of the supernatural world. It was why movies about all manner of supernatural creatures were a hit amongst them.

Victor himself found humans to be tiresome and self-absorbed, only caring about their two minutes of fame in the limelight. They thought supernatural’s were cruel and vicious, but it was the humans who had jails full of criminals and murderers. Greedy were the human race. Brutalising or killing each other for the stupidest reasons, money and drugs, jealously, love apparently. Pathetic creatures all of them.

He was sitting sipping on a not-so poor excuse for a cup of coffee when his eyes fell on what he wanted, as he sat and people watched through the café window. Smiled to himself and leaned forward, pushed his Beta, Garry right out of the way, “Well boys, today is my lucky day. There she is. Those idiots are calling for her at the lake and she’s not even there.” He murmured.

Seemed like she actually lived here in the human town, was simply strolling along a backpack on seemingly without a care in the world, they’d obviously never looked for her in this town. “Pay the bill.” He stated and got up to trail her.

Had not seen where she’d come from, but she was alone as she walked down the street. He glanced at the time just after 0830. They’d all eaten three breakfasts and made the owner of the café happy with that.

Victor kept his distance until he saw her go into a human gym, mind-linked to his men to bring the car out to the town’s gym, he was going to go in and collect what was his. Reminded them to make sure their ear protection was not only in but switched on as well.

Slipped his own ear protection in; full noise cancelling ear buds that were moulded to the shape of his ears, nothing was getting through these puppy’s. They were custom made to let regular sound pass through but nothing sonic or subsonic, designed to block a Sirens call. He’d used them once before, a long time ago, and now had new and improved ones.

These bad boys couldn’t even be seen to anyone looking at him, sat right inside his ears, had them specifically made, tailored to his ear, as were his units for that matter. Kept them updated all the time, needed to in case Silla ever got out of control. Not that she ever had, or not around him anyway.

Victor waited for his car to turn up, waved it to park down the street a car space or two. He didn’t want the windows exploding when she let her Siren out and he was certain it was going to push forward to defend them. Then he walked right into that gym, saw the human woman behind the counter who smiled up at him. He spoke before she did. Asked where Luci was, and that woman frowned right at him, “Don’t bother my employees at work.” She stated flatly “Pay the casual fee and work out or leave.” Was more than rude he thought, he could well be there for a personal session for all she knew.

Victor glared at her, tossed a fifty dollar bill on the counter and shot back “That should cover it.” And then walked away from her into the gym. Saw Luci heading down the corridor in gym gear, admired her a*s for a moment and then stated her name in full “Lucian!”, saw her turn to look right at him, her eyes a little wide at the use of her real name, then widened even further at landing her eyes on him. Saw her whole body go tense in the next second, and saw that Siren of hers push forward to take control. Her black eyes; a dead giveaway to her being on the surface.

He had noted she was much taller than she had once been, her gym clothes sported the logo, she was actually an employee here, working here in the human world. He smiled and nearly laughed, replaceing it very amusing. She had left those two pricks at some point. Who knew when? It had never been stated around him, not even by Orien himself, which was odd in itself. He should have told him. But it seems that she, though she had left them, had not gone far at all, and they didn’t even know it. How dumb could two people get; they were so stupid. Or just didn’t care anymore. He didn’t know which, was betting on the latter. Were now likely only looking for her because Addison wanted her daughter back.

“What do you want Victor?” the voice of her Siren, had that bone-chilling sound of something completely emotionless. Nothing more deadly than one who doesn’t care about consequences or fallout. Sirens, you gotta love them, s*******r anything and everything and didn’t so much as bat an eyelid over it. Completely heartless most of the time, they only liked their own kind or their Mate’s.

“My Luna, of course. Your father did tell me to come and collect you, and now here I am to do just that.”

“I’m not going with you.” She hissed right at him.

Felt a shiver run down his spine, not even Silla hissed at him, had never heard her do that, excited him more than a little. “Yes, you are Luci. You belong to me.” He smirked right at her and at the slight tilt of her head he pulled out the tranquilliser gun from his jacket and aimed it right at her.

Watched as that Siren of hers started to draw in a breath, he laughed right at her, it would have no effect on him, not that they knew that. This was just too sweet a moment, stood and let her use that Siren call, felt the waves of her call roll over him as she let it out, one wave after another, pulled the trigger after five full seconds and darted her. Saw her stagger about a second later, pocketed his gun and stepped right up to her, caught her as she fell, her eyes were already drooping “No” she gasped.

Victor smiled right down at her, pressed his lips to her ear and murmured “Now baby, you didn’t think I wouldn’t come prepared for you. Sonic protection is a must with you. Now let’s go home.”

Stood up with her as unconsciousness claimed her fully. Still so damned beautiful, Victor smiled down at her, took in her lovely face her long lean body, breasts he was going to enjoy. They were all his now. For as long as he liked, when he liked. Turned to walk out, noted all the mirrors and windows of the gym had been shattered. There was glass everywhere.

So very powerful she was. Their children would be amazing little half breeds and he was going to get a lot of them out of her. Headed off down the hall, back the way he’d come, found the human woman lying on the ground unconscious herself, had been hit by the call.

It was not his problem, if she survived or not, he didn’t care. Turned and really surveyed the damage. Smiled as he realised her Siren had really given it her all, likely he would have been dead if not for his knowledge of what she really was. His knowledge of how to handle a Siren.

That however, was something he had spent decades learning, trying to get his hand on this very creature now in his arms. His future Luna, he would Mark her when she woke up, wanted her to feel it. To know she was his, he was going to hold her down and Mate the hell out of her, then he and his wolf Bane were going to claim her for themselves at the peak of their pleasure.

He was happy now. His goal here complete and those two stupid pricks had no idea she was now his. Chuckled to himself, he was so damned happy, delighted with the ease he’d found and collected her for himself.

She had not been expecting him at all, he realised, certainly had not been expecting him to be prepared for her to be part Siren, or to have her Siren be useless against him. Silly woman, he would have thought she’d known him better than that. Seems not, perhaps no-one knew about her Siren till that attack he’d launched, and she’d appeared to save those two pricks from him. That was likely the case, he thought. So, she’d not been expecting anyone to know.

Walked out of the gym with her, smiling merrily to himself. Today was a good day. Mind-link to his Beta “I got her and it was so easy.” Laughed down the link as he now strolled down the street to where he could see his car waiting.

Could hear and see many car alarms going off, looked around the street. There were many people out and about trying to figure out what had happened, it was unlikely they would ever know. Handed Luci over to his Beta to put her in the car, saw his own cars window explode right before his eyes, felt glass shatter over him from behind and when he turned to see what had happened, his ear protection still in and turned on, had not heard anything, to alert him to oncoming danger, but saw two small boys running this way up the street.

Both of them had pure black eyes just like a Siren, twins, he could tell, and likely hers. Already realised and deadly. One had its mouth open and was screaming at the top of its lungs, he presumed. Was small and blonde. Looked at the other who had black hair. Those two bloody pricks had bred her, likely didn’t even know it. Would any minute now, he imagined.

Found his Beta Garry dropping to his knees on the ground, Luci fell from his arms on to the ground. There was b***d coming from his ears, the damned fool had turned his ear protection off when Victor had told him he’d subdued her. Was now in the full t****l of that bastard boy’s Siren call. That kid couldn’t be more than six surely.

They were both coming fast, and he was watching windows in cars and shops explode as they approached or were already exploded and glass was everywhere, all over the streets. He wanted them to come, he was faster than they were, already knew that just by watching them come towards him. He’d have them both too. There was no point in separating a mother from her children, especially little Alpha babies he could use as leverage to get exactly what he wanted from her every time he wanted something.

Victor shot forward between the two of them. Both dodged him as he expected them to, untrained in combat. They were too young, moved purely on instinct, smacked that blonde one good and propped as he went past, hit him hard enough to send him flying into the car parked on the street next to him and stop that call he was producing. Saw that boy fall down unconscious and didn’t even attempt to get up, laughed it had been easy to do.

Turned to replace the other staring at his twin, eyes fully wide. Took only a second before his eyes moved right to Victor, heard the first c***k of the boy’s bones and watched as one so very young and powerful shifted right before his eyes. To a rather large black and white wolf. Its eyes, however, were still pure black, had glowing red iris’s and then it roared right at him, with all it had, full fury, he could tell.

The sound passed his ear protection and shot pain through him. Victor shot out of its path, though he could feel the pain, he was still able to move and get out of the way, his ear protection still somewhat effective, thankfully. Took cover between the two cars. The wolf shot after him in a flash, still roaring, could use that Siren call in its wolf form and it was way more powerful than its brother or even its own mother. A true hybrid.

It was fast as a fully grown Alpha wolf, as fast as he himself was now, had to get back to his car, get Luci and get the hell out of here. That halfbreed was likely going to be deadly. He could already hear Bane howling in pain inside of him, that thing was a pure-bred Alpha-blooded hybrid and its roar was going to put Bane to shame. Just had to stay out of the direct line of its call.

Finally, he got back to his car only to replace his Beta unconscious and lying on the ground by Luci’s body. He could see there was a trickle of b***d coming from his nose and ears, not a good sign at all. Was tossed a tranquilliser gun from his Gamma and turned it on that bloody wolf, still racing after him, couldn’t actually stop moving till he had taken it down. He yelled at his men “Get her in the car.” As he turned and tried to line that b***d hybrid up, it was damned fast, and all its instincts in this form were like a Siren, it seemed, likely to be Alpha Rafe’s boy. Saw it come to a standstill at the sight of the gun trained on it, knew what it was he thought. Victor could now feel that there was b***d dripping from his own nose, he was not dying but he and his wolf were injured by this things call, was about to pull the trigger when two female she-wolves appeared behind the hybrid, all their claws out, likely members of the Black Forest Pack.

Then out of nowhere, there were teenagers rushing from down alley ways an onto the footpath all snarling and growling, all of the age to shift into their wolves, back up had arrived and though in the form of teens, he knew they were all likely to be very well trained, coming from one of the strongest packs there is.

He was outnumbered and not by a little at least forty to one, and those two bloody she-wolves he knew would have already alerted their Alpha and Beta to the threat he was posing to Luci and their boys. They weren’t that far away either on the lake with Addison, could be here in just minutes, they would be coming at full Alpha Wolf speed.

The whole damned Black Forest Pack was going to be on him and very quickly, especially if those women had figured out or knew about the twins, was furiously angry. He was going to have leave and regroup, come back and try again.

He reached down to collect Luci and shuddered as another Siren call ripped from that bloody hybrid, it was a warning, he knew it, not to touch its mother. Victor understood loud and clear, plan A had failed because he had not done his recon properly and found out about the twins, prior to his k********g of her.

Got in his car, had to leave both Luci and his damned Beta there on the ground. If the man wasn’t dead, it was likely that he would be soon. Those hybrids had not been messing about, they were as deadly as any Alpha Siren it seemed and were just children.
