The Alpha & Beta's Regret -
The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 25
Jack POV
The minute Jack and Flare heard the words ‘I think their yours and Jack’s’, Flare was in full control, ripped right out of him and was gone towards the town. It wouldn’t take him long to get there, 10 minutes at most.
Flare was moving and a lot faster than Jack had ever felt him do so before. He’d always felt agitated about something over the years, since Luci was gone, neither could quite put their finger on it. This was it. They had a son out there. He knew instantly, those twins were his and Rafe’s. Luci had born them children after she had left.
He could feel pain inside of him, it must be horrible to hide them and protect them at the same time. No wonder she never went far from the pack, might have needed to get their help if she and the twins were in real danger. Shifted back at the pack clothing store, he yanked pants on while he was still moving, and pulled the shirt over his head as he was headed out the front door, hadn’t stopped to greet the she-wolf who’d greeted him in the store as he banged through the back door, didn’t have time.
Was headed right for Petra, using his tether to her to track exactly where in town she was. She’d not given her exact location, but he was latched on tight to that tether. Flare was agitated once again. They’d heard her state that the blonde boy was injured, that Victor had struck one of the boys, likely his child if he was blonde. Both Luci and Rafe had dark hair. He was going to kill Victor for hurting his boy.
‘Where is Victor?’ he shot down the mind-link to Petra.
‘Fled after Sara and I stepped behind the boy’s Wolf and the teens turned up, he was outnumbered and knew it.”
Finally, they got to where she was. The teens all stepped aside and let him pass. Sara was knelt down by his boy, who lay on the ground unconscious. His eyes moved to the other child, he’d already shifted back to his human form. Looked just like his father Rafe, he was sitting by his mother with a hand on her, saw Victor’s Beta lying on the ground. “Bind that man, before he wakes up.” He rapped out, he was going to get answers to all his questions, if he survived, that was. Didn’t look too healthy,
Knelt down next to his son, to assess his body, he looked relatively unharmed, bar bruising coming up on the side of his little face. Carefully picked him up, the boy was very limp in his arms. “Careful Beta, he has a head wound.” Sara told him.
“I understand.” Jack nodded, but he needed to hold the boy, his son, looked so much like him. There was no doubt this little boy was his son. Flare was calming down with the boy in his arms. It seemed all these years of agitation and restlessness were because they had an unknown son to them.
Looked at Luci, she still had that tranquilliser dart in her. He left it there, would likely have to use the residue in it to replace out what she had been given to sedate her, and give something to counteract it, to bring her around sooner.
Rafe was not far behind him only a few minutes, and he’d been linked into all conversations the man had held, heard all the reactions, knew that help was on the way. The pack doctor and medics were coming to assist with not just Luci but his son too.
Watched the way Rafe’s son spoke right to him, called Luci ‘mamma.’ There was no hesitation in the boy. No fear of all these people that were suddenly around him, and with the way he was interacting with Rafe himself, it was highly likely the boy knew this man next to him was his father as well.
Watched as the boy allowed Rafe to dress him even, trusted him already, it seemed. Rafe picked Luci’s unconscious body up and stepped into the pack’s paramedic van. The boy followed him without issue, wherever his mother went he was going. Though he didn’t put Luci down on the gurney, he allowed Jack to put his son down on that instead. Luci was not actually injured, just unconscious.
Put his boy down and turned back to reach down for Rafe’s boy, watched him reach up to be picked up and put into the van, no fear of even Jack himself. He hadn’t even been worried about Jack picking up his twin, though the boy had watched him do it hadn’t stopped him at all.
The way he was putting Luci’s hand on his twin, it did appear that he knew that Luci could help with the boy’s condition, or at least he believed so. She was part witch, part Siren and part Wolf, a Truine as Hannah had stated, three completely separate but together at all times.
He heard the boy’s words ‘He needs mamma, is injured.’ Jack was completely certain that Luci could heal her own boy. Didn’t know how or which part of her could do it, but knew without a doubt that she could.
Watched on as Norman injected her with adrenalin, then saw her brilliant green eyes snap open, felt relief wash over him as she stared up at Rafe, saw her eyes widen a little and then her head whip around at the boy’s words ‘mamma Jack.’ And she was off of Rafe’s lap in an instant, saw her eyes go completely black and knew it was her Siren that was on the surface to check their boy.
Leaned right over him, to touch his head and found himself and his wolf Flare actively relaxed themselves as they felt waves of energy roll through the van. She was healing her son, nothing more important to her than her children. Not even the fact that both he and Rafe were in this van with her and the children she’d kept hidden from them.
He was standing next to her, looking down at her, watching on worriedly while she did whatever she thought was necessary. Trusted her and her instincts, both he and Flare knew that she would never hurt her own child.
Watched as she finally leaned back slightly from the boy to look down at him, assessing him, Jack thought, then got to see his son’s eyes open for the first time, they were as deep and dark green as his own, took right after him, in every way it seemed. Saw her place a loving hand on his small face, and heard his voice for the first time “Mamma.” The boy looked right at her, smiled up at her a little.
“I’ve got you.” Luci’s voice was soft and gentle, full of love for her child, he saw little Jack’s eyes move to his twin and watched as Rafe’s son’s hand brushed right through his twin’s hair and smiled down at him, could see relief on the boy’s face as he looked at his twin.
“Rafe, you saved mamma.”
“I did.” Little Rafe nodded to his twin.
She had named them both after their fathers, pain was welling up inside of him and his wolf, they’d had something so perfect and had ruined it, but despite that she had still raised their children to not only know who they were, but not to be afraid of them either.
Watched as little Jack sat up and looked around him finally, saw him, looked right up at him and blinked, seemed surprised to see him, turned and looked at his mother, noted little Rafe was as well, watched as the both of them reached out for her at the exact same time, so very connected he realised.
“Mamma?” they both said in unison, could actually hear the concern lacing both their voices, they were worried about her.
It wasn’t Luci who turned and looked at him though, it wasn’t Kali either, but her Siren. He could not read any expression in those pure black eyes of hers, but watched as she stood up, was at least six feet tall now, had grown with the birth of her Siren, it seemed. Reached out for both her sons’ hands and they took her hands. “Move.” The word was issued from her Siren, a full command more than asking him. He stepped back, wouldn’t have stopped her, but had no choice in the matter, she out ranked him and was letting him know it as well. She also knew she outranked him.
But then, Luci had been an Alpha and he was a Beta, even Luci and Kali her wolf out ranked him technically, not that she had ever had cause to use her Alpha authority on him, not once till today, right this very minute, and it wasn’t Luci doing it.
“Luci.” It was Rafe. “You’re not safe out there. Let us take you back to the pack.”
Watched as that Siren of Luci’s turned and looked right at Rafe, hissed right at him, all aggression, this creature was not up for a friendly chat that was for sure. How Victor had managed to take her down he had no idea, but needed to replace out so it couldn’t happen again.
Jack stepped back, he wanted his son, but also knew better than to push the Siren who was in control. It wasn’t Luci. He and Rafe had no idea what her Siren was like at all, they would have to give her the space she needed or wanted, were not going to be able to defend themselves against her if she let that Siren call out.
Watched her step right outside their paramedic van with both the boys and turned up the street and walked away from them. Neither of their sons even looked back at them. He put a hand on Rafe’s chest to stop him from going after her right away. “Give her space.”
“She’s not safe.” Rafe snapped at him.
“I know, but is dealing with a lot right now. Let her walk.”
“Jack.”
“No, it’s alright, we can have Petra follow at a safe distance and trail behind her. Find out where she goes, likely lives close by.”
“I don’t like it.” Rafe grated out and Jack knew the Alpha in him wanted to take control of the situation.
“Neither do I, but we can’t defend against a Siren, we don’t even know how Victor did it. We need to replace that out to protect her in the future.”
“He saw them, Jack. That man is a complete savage, he would know whose children they are.” Rafe bit out.
“Yes, and ran from young Rafe, likely your boy is more powerful than even Victor is. He lost his Beta, he will have to leave and come back another time.”
“He could still be out there just waiting on the edge of town Jack; we can’t let her walk alone with the boys.”
“He’s gone Rafe, if you got your a*s kicked by a six year old and lost your Beta to another six year old ,would you stick around for the boys fathers to come with their entire pack to hunt you down?”
Rafe finally sighed “No, logically I would not. But Victor is not likely to be logical right now, had Luci right where he wanted her. Unconscious and for the taking and then lost her, he is going to be completely pissed off and itching to come back and get her or the boys. Will want a way to get to her, and if he gets even one of our boys, he will get Luci.”
“If he touches one of her boys, that Siren of hers is going to be out in full force. In all likelihood, her Siren will go full Alpha rage and kill everything to get to her boy. Nothing will stop her. Sirens are deadly Rafe, she won’t go down so easily a second time. It’s highly likely Luci’s Siren can kill half if not all of Victor’s pack and will do. If he has the stupidity to try and take one of her boys, she will march herself in there and destroy everyone and everything to get her son or sons back.”
He’d been doing nothing but research on Sirens for weeks now. Knew without a doubt, Victor was a dead man if Luci ever laid eyes on him again. It might well be just a matter of time before she took herself to that pack of her own accord and dealt with the man. She knew where his pack was.
