The Alpha & Beta's Regret -
The Alpha & Beta’s Regret – Chapter 28
Victor POV
Victor was completely furious, she’d had bloody twins with those two pricks and they were already realised. Both those boys were more powerful than Luci and her Siren and he knew it. His Delta was down and out.
He had b***d coming from his ears and nose and that man was now lying on the back seat of his pack car, trying to survive. He had also not been wearing his hearing protection, due to Victor’s statement of him getting Luci. And although he had been inside the car the whole time, he had been injured by that little blonde bastard, as well as the hybrid that had been chasing him. He’d run right for his car, that bloody thing roaring after him.
His Gamma wasn’t feeling well, but at least that man had kept his hearing protection in and on, like Victor had, he’d seen him wipe b***d from his nose much the same way he had to do, only so much protection given to them from their sonic devices, whatever pitch that little hybrid bastard used was completely different to a full blooded siren.
Victor glanced at the unconscious man in the back. He wasn’t going to make it back to the pack, it was nearly a six and half hour drive without stops. The man’s heart rate was dropping off and his breathing was no longer even and regular, but stilted and occasionally he stopped breathing for 20 or thirty seconds at a time. He was in a silent death spiral back there, and Victor knew it, likely his body was just trying to compensate. But it was already too late.
Victor himself was sporting a massive headache, and though his nose had bled for a little while, he was recovering, and he knew it. Bane was also pissed off about what had happened. Rafe’s little bastard was not something he was able to handle at this point in time.
A wolf that could resonate a Siren’s call, those damned pricks had beaten him to it, bred Luci and got the strongest of heirs from her. Though he wondered how the council would feel about those two hybrid bastards, he did not yet know and couldn’t make his mind up which way they would jump.
He had yet to make the decision to report to them about this entirely new species amongst the otherworldly creatures. Knew that if he did, studying them would be high on the priority list. He wanted to do that himself, to study them, but getting to them with Luci or those three witches from that pack was likely going to be more than difficult. Unobtainable.
He was going to have to think on it. He couldn’t take on the Wolfen council either. If they got their hands on the twins first, they were backed by the Royals. With the new Wolfen King on the throne, who held, from what he heard, had one hell of a powerful seer, his youngest sister. She could see anything, only needed a single drop of b***d to do so.
He would be staying away from that woman at all cost, though she did not reside in the royal kingdom, but here in the human world. Her son was an Alpha to a two Alpha pack, not a pack he was going to pit himself up against either. He heard that, that half-royal blooded Alpha was strong and deadly to deal with, he had a full-blooded royal princess for a mother and two sisters. All within his pack.
Nope, he was leaving that pack alone, half the Alpha unit were also attached to the royals, from what he understood, as well. He had always stayed away from them and that pack. He knew that all royals who were in harm’s way could be seen and felt by the royal kingdom’s seers.
He had nothing to do with that pack, wasn’t likely going to either, not ever. Though he wondered if the new King Christian, would care about that half-breed Siren and her wolfen pups. He was, from all appearances, not at all like his father, would rule fairly and didn’t appear to use that royal warlock anymore, but he had kept the royal seers. Really needed to think about whether he should inform the wolfen council or not.
He could lose the very thing he desired by telling the council about them and he did not want that. They might just see fit to put Luci and her children right under wolfen council protection. Hell, she could end up in the royal kingdom with the full protection of the king himself if she would align herself to him.
His Delta was dead in the back seat by the time they got back to his Pack. He also believed that so was his Beta, he’d been staggering about and then down on the ground before Victor left. If Gary wasn’t dead, they had cuffed him with silver and dosed him up with wolfsbane and severed him from his wolf. Victor couldn’t feel him anymore, Gary wouldn’t talk even if he was alive, that man was just like him, liked power and lots of it.
He hadn’t grown up with Victor, had strolled into Victor’s pack about a year after he had taken it over. Dumped a half-breed in front of him and declared, ‘I want to be your Beta, this is my offering to show you I’m just like you.’ The half-breed was part wolf, part cougar something very rare indeed.
She had been beaten pretty badly, likely more than beaten and looked absolutely terrified of Gary. Victor had, had a Beta, and told him that if he could beat his Beta in a duel to the death, he’d accept him. Gary had beaten his current Beta, and was a complete savage of a man. Just like Victor was. He’d pledged his loyalty and taken that half-breed for his chosen mate. She still hated him, had tried to reject him multiple times. Gary just remarked her each and every time, was obsessed with her as much as Victor was Luci.
Though there was something different about Gary’s Mate, that woman knew she was never getting away. Had actually injured herself so badly when they’d been away that she could no longer produce the man a child. He’d been furious and near beaten her to death.
Victor had wondered if it was what she had wanted. She had fought back, but not all that hard. If Gary was dead, his Mate would know, and be over the moon about it as well. He’d replace out when he got back to the packhouse.
He had every intention of walking up into his Beta’s suite and looking at that woman’s neck. She had multiple bite marks from his Beta. The man was vicious, that was for sure. He and Gary got along well. Though Gary had never bedded anything but his Mate since marking her, curious it was.
As much as she hated him, it did seem the man was loyal to her, always would be. Made him more than curious as to whether that half-breed had been his Goddess Gifted Mate and she had rejected him. But he wasn’t standing for it. She’d learned to stay put and not to run away and though was very unhappy, did stay put.
No one went near her, anyone that did had met with a brutal end, Gary didn’t like anyone looking at his mate, another thing that led Victor to think they were Goddess Gifted to each other. If she was just a chosen Mate, Gary wouldn’t likely care, likely wouldn’t be faithful to her either. Victor had never asked him about it.
Was not really of his concern, he asked where he’d gotten her from. The answer had been ‘born into my previous pack, I took her.’ and that was all he’d stated on the subject.
He stalked himself right upstairs and banged into the Beta suite the minute he was home. She looked right at Victor and laughed right at him, held her shirt aside for him to see her neck even. The man was dead. There was no filagree on her neck anymore. Stared hard at her, wondered just what to do with her, now.
“Yes, Alpha, he is dead.” She finally said, smiling right at him as she spoke.
“Doesn’t mean you’re free to go,” he stated.
“I’m useless to you Victor, just like I made sure I would be to him.”
“Then I guess your time is limited, isn’t it, Rhyse?”
‘Yep.” She smiled right at him “I’ll wait right here, come do your worst.” She taunted him.
Victor stared right at her, she was not afraid to die, never had been, and beating her would give him no pleasure, nor would bedding her for that matter. Gary had likely already taken the fight out of the woman; she’d likely just lay there and take it.
He turned and walked out of the suite, he could demote her and send her off to the w***e house, though it was likely she’d kill a few of his pack members. He would have to think on her. She did know how to fight. He could put her in with his warriors now and have her trained to be on the front line for battle, he supposed.
Didn’t look like she was going to go anywhere at all. Had been here so long, she didn’t have anywhere else to go. Likely she didn’t even know where her old pack was, had been brought here at 18 and never been allowed to leave. Though she had tried many times in the beginning, she had never escaped Gary, that man would never let her leave him.
Took dozens of warriors to hunt and track her that first time she’d run off, showed her he would never let her go. Never give her up.
He was going to need a new Beta and a new Delta at that. He didn’t want just any warrior stepping up either, actually wanted a Beta bloodline to replace Gary. He was going to have to source one out. He could live without a Delta if necessary, might replace one in a rogue somewhere.
It was Bane’s job to sniff out those bloodlines and let him know, there were plenty of Beta and Delta bloodlines, he just needed to replace ones that were savage and could be loyal to him. Might take some time, but he was now back to playing the long game, it seemed.
Luci and her bastard boys, he knew, would be back inside that pack and protected now by those two pricks. It was unlikely those two boys would be allowed off of pack territory, and he knew Luci wouldn’t go anywhere without them.
Not likely anyway, seeing as she was part Siren, Sirens loved other Sirens, it’s why Silla had never ever laid eyes on another one. He couldn’t have her attaching herself to a Siren who understood about their own kind. As far as Silla was concerned, she was precious, the last of her kind and he, Victor, was keeping her safe from those that would harm or kill her.
He had raised her since she was just two years old, found her in the black market and bought her for himself, he had not cared how much she cost.
Had seen the little creature sitting cowering in that cage and known from the sound she was making, just what she was, he had squatted right down and looked at her. She’d had bruises all over her, beaten by her captors, likely her small Siren had tried to protect her and not been strong enough to do so yet.
He had smiled at the little girl, and told her he would save her and he had. She’d never had a reason not to trust him. He’d never hurt her, kept her happy all the time. He didn’t need his head exploding at any point, and it was nice to have her as an ally. He knew that she would try to save him if the pack was under attack.
He was, after all, her Vic Vic, the man that had saved her, protected her, given her everything she had wanted, though nowadays all she wanted was her tank, food and s*x, that was it. A Siren was not a creature to want possessions, lived freely in the ocean or large lakes mostly, slept on the sea or lake floor and hunted under the waters, they were only savage when they needed to be. To protect what was theirs and he was hers as far as she was concerned.
